Black is hard to paint, and even if you painted it using now it still read as black, so do not worry what other might say, these black Templar look fantastic for the time invested! Congrats! 😁 I'm sure your client loved your minis!
Just letting you know the spinning display is fast enough to blurr the video frames (its moving insanely fast). Can't actualy see the finished details. Not many infocus shots while painting ether. Think alot of people set up a linked monitor infront of them from the camera and practice painting right in the sweet spot. Don't know if they turn auto focus off.
I try to paint. I wish I had your level of detail. You guys are amazing when it comes to these paint jobs. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy painting and mine are ok. Then I see these.
It just takes practice, as much of a cop out answer that is! Keep working at it and it’ll come to you, took me a long time to paint like this, and I still have a long way to go!
Thanks! The faces did not get grimed, when I use streaking grime I typically don’t use it over the skin. If you check out the 3 faces video I just put out, I followed the 5 minute face with one additional level of highlighting!
Really simple for it, a little cork tear it up, then slap a brown texture paste over the top. Then I used some light brown pigment powder and applied it all over the base and legs! Some of my ork videos show how to get the same base!
Should be able to yes! I would get your black prime to begin and then do a dusting of a darker blue rather than a fenrisian grey equivalent. If you spray it through a can you should get the same result. Or on the flip side you could definitely use a dry brush to achieve this, if you’re interested I released a video a few weeks back “How to Paint your first miniature” that shows how to get the same black armor with drybrush and no airbrush!
So for all the criticisms I have stored up I decided not to voice one of them. However, how did your client like the dirty down Space Wolves in Black Templar armour? Trust me blue is not black armour.
I get the critique the bluish hue isn’t for everybody. That was his request so he liked it! He had given me a couple of models he had done to try and match off of, and it happened to match my preferred way of doing black armor.
Templars are always so sick, great job!

I've been sitting on some unpainted black templars for a while. This matches exactly the vibe I wanted from them. Great tutorial.
Glad to hear it! Let me know how they go!
The black templars brought me here! Love this tutorial! I'll definitely be following more of your work!
Amazing job

This is a very nice tutorial of the black templars. Thank you for your time.
How did you do those bases? In particular, I love how the sand from the bases spills over onto the boots/legs of the models

Guess who has to repaint his templars...
Also, a hobby discord server sounds lovely!
Looks great!!
Your paint scheme/colors are exactly how I imagine templars.
I love the video! Would it be possible to spin your minis a little slower? It is a bit hard to see all of your work in my opinion!
Really love this!
For the neophytes, how did you do the faces? Did they get the same streaking grime treatment for instance?

Awesome video! Would love to know how you did you base

Looks good! What specific streaking grime did you use ?
Thanks! I use AK Streaking Grime
Reddit brought me here
Likewise
Thanks for this tutorial! Do you think the base coat primer could be achieved without an airbrush?

What white ink do you use?
I use Liquitex Professional - Titanium White
Grimdork is a great name
Thanks!
@GrimdORKMinis You're Welcome!
I think you’re me in another timeline
My god
Brown templars I see😂
