When my husband and I were young newlyweds we had NO MONEY. So, on Valentine's Day, we would go to the card store and shop for cards separately. After each of us had found the perfect card we would meet up, exchange them, read them, and look at each other with bright-eyed loving looks. Then we would promptly put them back and stroll out of the card shop hand-in-hand. We are financially stable now and still do it as a tradition, just for fun!

You saying you bought yourself flowers for Valentines Day, reminded me of something my dad did years ago (in the 1980's). i had started a new job in late January and worked in an office with about 5/6 other women. They were all married or in long term relationships and i was single. My dear sweet dad sent me a dozen roses because he didn't want me to be the only one not to get something for Valentines Day...i was the only one who got anything! Still one of my best memories of my dad, who passed away in 2003. Love your videos, even if i am probably one of the oldest viewers...lol

When we had no money for our anniversary, I memorized a romantic poem and recited it to him. I printed the poem and put it in a dollar store frame with dried flowers from a bouquet he previously gave to me. He still has that framed poem on his office shelf today, 32 years later!

Him and his brother are tough as they come (I'm talking 6ft tall w/ skin like sandpaper and arms thick as tree trunks) but whenever someone tries to rip on them for having traditionally feminine likes they get a very calm, very cold serving of "You don't like flowers? Here's one: I work at a high-end spa as a receptionist and we sell really expensive skincare products. I mean in like the 100$+ range. This older lady comes in and has me ring up a 200ish$ face cream. She looks at the price and says "Why is it 200$? Last year it was 195$."
I answer "Idk it's probably because of inflation."
She says "Well that's not fair because I'm not getting paid more! Prices shouldn't just change like that."

Before I got married, my husband came home with my favorite; chicken strips and french fries, along with a piece of chocolate cream pie and a pint of cookie dough ice cream and a coca-cola. He also brought a plush penguin he won from a claw machine because I had bad cramps. I thought it was incredibly sweet of him. He was so thoughtful. Then my father-in-law came in with a bottle of midol, pads, 2 packets of m&ms and a pink cup with glitter inside. It's not uncommon for me to get repeat customers at these small-town events, as they're family oriented and bring out local businesses and crafters. This was the case this very day. A woman who I had sold to at an event the previous November came up to my clothing rack and said, "Oh you're still doing this? That is so cute." Insulting much? I looked her in the eye and said, "Still running my company, and earning my livelihood? Yes." Anyway, she proceeded to ask me if I could give her a discount on a coat she had found since she had bought from me before. I reminded her that this is still my livelihood and I can't give discounts. When I turned to a new customer who was asking a question, she put the handmade coat back on the rack sloppily and walked away. Thought I would throw this in since it's an Entitled People video.

I love my ring too. My ring is even more simple and smaller but the diamond is almost flawless so I know it was expensive. My 13 year old son accidentally threw it away when my husband made him clean the bathroom while I cleaned the kitchen and other areas. I try to deep clean once a month, so we’d have multiple trash bags just full of crud and it’s gross. We’re not rich by any means, and live paycheck to paycheck, but my husband said he’ll buy me a new ring. I said no way. First of all it has sentimental value for me and diamond rings are not cheap and my husband had worked hard to save up for it. I dug through all the trash bags until I found my ring. It was at the bottom of the very last bag I rummaged through of course, lol. But yes I am grateful that my man loves me so much and thought I was worthy enough to work so hard to buy me a diamond.

I would like to point out that the last woman mentioned Chennai, which lies in India. The culture is a bit different there, notice also the mention of dowry. Clearly it's very different where she lives. She's not using Tinder, she's using "matrimonial sites". It seems more like a bargain for a stable future. She doesn't have enough to bargain with, but she'd like to land a good man, she's frustrated because all her cards are stacked against her. She was born with less desirable traits and less money than the life she wants to envision for her children. It's frustrating and she needed to vent. It just was pointless to do so in this way. Obviously she knows she can't land the man she wants with this post, and it won't change anything... But we sometimes post in frustration only to realize others will not respond positively to it.

A friend of mine who was well off was shopping for a car, and her husband bought her something he knew she didn't want because he thought it was more "responsible" than the sportscar she was looking for. She didn't say anything. She just drove it to the dealership and exchanged it for what she wanted. It cost them a lot of money, but she could afford it, and she wasn't going to be forced to drive what she didn't want. The difference here is she didn't shame him on social media.

Like, it took him a long time to save $2400, first of all, he doesn't have the money to file suit. On the plus side, I was taught a long time ago by an attorney, the moment anyone mentions suing the conversation is over and you just tell them because they said that they now have to talk to your legal representative, effectively shutting down that stupid conversation. (There is legal reasoning behind it because if someone actually did sue, anything you say to them could potentially be used against you, but I find it an effective way to shut those people down.)

Some years I couldn't afford gifts for my sons, but I would always make sure that they got to choose either where we went out for dinner or I would let them choose what we had for dinner, and they always got to pick what kind of cake they wanted. Didn't matter what kind, because thank God, I was blessed with being able to cook anything as long as I have a recipe or watched someone make it. If I wasn't able to buy a gift for one, then none of them got bday gifts that year, or if I could, I would get let them choose a gift at a later time. I never kept my finances q secret from my children, the bills were always paid and there was always plenty of food and they had everything else they needed. But, extra things were sometimes not possible. They're all in their early and mid 20's now,and know the value of hard work and saving.. I couldn't have been blessed with better sons and I'm so proud of all 4 of them. They were always so sweet and understanding even while growing up, I think it's because I did explain bills, etc to them. They never had to fear being homeless, not eating or not having clothes, shoes, school supplies. But, going to the movie theater, etc was usually not within my budget. But, when we lived in Baltimore for 6yrs, I saved my money and always got the season passes for 6 flags. I would pack a cooler, buy 2-3 of the refillable cups Everytime, and you would also get a ticket book with about 10 passes where you could take other people for free. So, if it was their best friends bday, we would take them to six flags with us. It wasn't that expensive, and they always made me feel like I was the best mom in the world. When she said it went through the top of his buttock and came out the bottom ,well I am almost 73 so I say what I want to people like her. I said "I HOPE HE DIDN'T SUFFER TO MUCH BRAIN DAMAGE". She didn't get it right way but later she called our friend and wanted my number so she could cuss me out. Not only does her son have only two working BRAIN cells but it seems like she has to share them with her son. Just me being me. Love you much from Mama Kay.

When I was selling my first car on facebook: it was as old as me, not legal to drive anymore unless repairs were done (super rusty), so I was basicly selling over scrap. There was this older man trying to talk me down as a person to get me to go with his offer because « honey I’m being nice to you with this offer, no one wants this car for more than this anyways» and when he came to view the car he was constantly talking down because I was a young adult woman and knew little about cars.
I didn’t sell it to him.

The portion about paying for other people's promises made me think of something that happened to someone I know.
She was talking to this guy online, who had a 9 year old son. I guess it was his kids birthday coming up, and he said that he promised his kid that she(my friend) was going to send a bike for his birthday. The guy told my friend that when his kid didn't receive the bike he was promised, the kid cried and said he hated her. I couldn't believe that this guy would make promises from people he doesn't know to his kid to get out of buying his kid a birthday present. There was so many things wrong with the situation. My hope is that none of it really happened. I can't think of a single parent that would purposely break his kids heart like that. Needless to say my friend stopped talking to him...
