- In this video, I handle some maintenance with the P0128 check engine light for my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi. I replace the water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, intake air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor, and upper radiator hose. Big job but diy saves a lot of money over taking it to a shop!

The torque for the water pump bolts are 21 ft lbs.
The tensioner are 30 ft lbs.
The 2 pulleys are 16 ft lbs.
That is according to the service manual.
Thanks for the extra info!

I do the same, I remove anything that's in the way, like to have room, it's only another few minutes anyway.
Anything to make the job more comfortable
2 hours job. Torque 🎉he says 18 watched to other videos other 1 said 21 lb torque other video said 25 lb torque i would say 21-25 lb torque on the screws for water pump 💯👍👍
Nice work!
Dónde puedo obtener esa herramienta especial para aflojar el fan de su base en la bomba de agua
There is an Amazon link in the video description to this type of tool.
Well done. Now I'm ready to do mine. I'll see your 7 and do it in 8 hours. LOL
Good luck!
@@reichartsworkshop thank you. I just got all the supplies today. I'm gonna time this one. Lol.
What tq did you go with on the water pump? I'm getting told 18 ft lbs 19 some say, some say 25, some say 30, one dealer told me 45 ftlbs. But not sure he was correct with all the lower numbers others have stated 🤔
Check to see if your part came with any recommended values. I think I was that 18-20 range and no issues here.
What is the tq spec for the water outlet ?
Hey I don’t have the recommended spec but for the thermostat housing, which I think you’re asking for, should be ok with 20 ft/lb or there about.
Ended up wit one bolt left lol
The bolt fairy has blessed you with a gift
The torque on the tensioner bolt calls for 33 ft lbs. the other bolts should be 19 ft lbs.
It is also easier to put a 3/8 breaker bar on the tensioner while you tap the 36 mm fan bolt with a spanner wrench and a 3 lb hammer
Great job anyway.
Thanks for the added info!
What is the tq spec for the thermostat outlet neck??? Please
Hey Joe my tensioner bolt is turning to the left releasing tension when I try this. Do u know why?
You didn’t show how to remove the reservoir and the connections and hose. Thanks for nothing.
You don’t know how to remove a hose?
Take a flathead to the red pin connector and pop it up to get the sensor wire off, it’s two 10mm bolts on the top of the reservoir and then you just push it over to where the air box goes
