There's something so endearing and tender when a lady caresses the cheek of another. It's the reason this is one of my favorite scenes from the film. 💕
Just watched it yesterday and I understood why it is a classic love story! It’s just epic, everything from the great acting to the aesthetic cinematography. Everyone’s been talking about Cate’s extraordinary acting and no wonder why everyone turns gay for her. But I do wanna take a moment and appreciate Rooney’s acting as well. She portrays a quiet, shy, and introvert personnel. But you know it’s not a monotone acting when you can see the development of Therese throughout the movie. This scene is beautiful because you can see her lips trembling when she feels so guilty and her face trying to hold her tears back is just so innocent and sad like a lil puppy. Man I just have no other words for this masterpiece. This movie is EPIC
I've watched this movie again and again since the first time and I definitely agree with you in this comment. This movie and their play so amazing and lasting forever in our mind, our heart.
" What are you thinking? Do you know how many times a day I ask you that? " With the lil glances she gives as Therese begins to emotionally break down. Oh to be loved and cared for like this, that someone just wants to know the thoughts that are drowning you and their want to save you from them. This lil line from this scene has got me teary eyed ....
I can’t believe they were denied Oscars for this film. Maybe they cancelled each other out or Hollywood still wasn’t ready to reward a film regarding two women falling in love yet. Rooney’s performance in this scene was outstanding. You feel her pain. She’s so natural and real. Her crying doesn’t feel like acting in the least. The shaking of her hand as she expresses her anguish. They both responded to each other magically. Imagine acting opposite either one. They gave each other the gift of an incredible scene partner to act with and against. Beautiful film. 🌈
The way CB (Carol) simply reassures her younger ward is just so tender and wonderful, age is the time we learn and the fact Terese recognises she's not at an age to make informed (esp emotional decisions) is counter weighted by Carol's tender and knowingly reassuring reply, the letter she sends later reaffirms that, doomed love is often the most intensive and unforgettable.
I've read the book after I watch the film and I think this is one of the best films I have ever seen it's so obvious that she feels guilty about making love to Carol but what Carol has no regrets because she's finally met someone who she can feel herself with and not have to find an excuses for it this is one of the underrated LGBT films that I have seen this is one with a happy ending and it shows no matter what your face you can overcome it to be with the one you love I hope Carol and she I'm very happy I've done it ocram although I've often wondered what happens after the Oak room to the 11th happily ever after I think they do I love to think that they do
Such a beautiful scene. Beautifully acted and shot! The part where Cate holds Ronney, and the smoke of the cigarette on the side of the window they are sharing is dope.
The difference between the car scenes is incredible because they're so close to one another in the movie. In the first one, both are happy, they're laughing and listening to music and you never see one of their smiles drop. In this scene, Therese is smoking, which she doesn't do often, and has been crying. She looks upset and her breathing is shaky. This movie is incredible.
favourite scene out of many.. this is where I felt carol loves & care for therese so much. never blaming her & she just sacrificed a lot to give happy ending to their story. love this movie. a real shame that I decided not to watch it sooner despite me being aware of its existence long time ago. but am glad that I already did. wonderful film. a classic.
I feel like crying.... I've not yet seen the movie, since I've just come to know about it recently, and ever since I've been crazy about it... And I really want to see it. Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara... beautiful. If this makes me cry, I don't know how I'll be when I'll actually watch it.
@@johnobb359 It has been removed from Netflix right. And I cannot find it there too. God... I've never been so desperate to watch a movie in my life....Plus I'm sorry to bother you...

Yes, I love how Cate and Rooney play off each other's performances. I hope Rooney also gets credited for her performance in Carol. ❤

They didn’t cancel each other out because the studio submitted Cate as lead actress and Rooney as supporting.
Watched this movie 2 years ago, and still can't get over with it. A masterpiece.

Would be perfect if Carol has kissed her very sweetly ♡

That sentence along with a kiss on the cheek of her… ❤
I think this scene is the scene where the two have the most conversations.

1:22 You can see after Carol starts the car again they both exchange a look simultaneously so they can reassure each other!
