I have been fabbing for 26 years and still struggle with keeping it simple. This is spot on KISS in principle. Super respect and great show piece of your skill set and line of thought.
i put metal lashing and by rotating the cable when i close the tailgate table the cable move out of the way by twisting. I will show that in a video one day. The trick was just to rotate the ibolt a specific way and everytime i close the gate the cable move out of the way. The thing is that the gap between the gate and the rack is 1/8. With chains i would have to mowe them out of the way everytime.
I will make a video to how i remove it this summer. I will also make a update video of improvements i did. Like fire extinguisher, tool box mod, and more.
Is the tailgate fab table insulated from the truck. Welding on it will likely burn the computer for the truck up. If it’s insulated how did you do that?
I never welded from the tailgate because it’s not insulated. I have a good set of foldable work bench that i can use for a "table" if needed. To tell you the truth 19jobs out of 20 that i do, doesn’t need a work table in the field. I have a well equipped fab shop and i always pre fab everything so that i only have to install in the field.
Yes but i installed a kit of air bags in the video i only had 15psi so the truck looked squatted. Now i run left side 68psi and right side 74 and the truck is perfectly level. I will make an other video this summer with improvements and mods i did.
Since i made the tool box myself the entire build is aroune 2500$. I went hard on the painting, after sand blast i got 2 coat of epoxy primer and 5 coat of tremclad oil base black paint on top.
Awesome skid! Very well thought out and simple nice work

Thank you sir, i have to admit that i have 21 years of crafting metal work to get there. But like you said simplicity is key.
The nicest I have ever seen. I really like the built in storage.
Fantastique my friend. That looks awesome.
Excellent build!!! Great job!!!
That is an awesome skid sir!
That’s exactly what I want to build for my truck definitely would like to see more videos
Nice work. Great ideas. That fold down tailgate/table, maybe solid links or chain to hold up.

That's really nice! You did a good job!
Nice set up, simple and effective, the rack i think will come in handy more than a guy figures.
I climb on it twice to attach my ladder. I now realize it was necessary.
Great build!
Dam you do some great work
Very nice. Well thought out!
Awesome skid!!!
Nice job! I like it!
Can you make a video of how it removes out? Is it all 1 unit including the ladder rack
I will make a video to how i remove it this summer. I will also make a update video of improvements i did. Like fire extinguisher, tool box mod, and more.

You do some good work. Did you build those toolboxes from scratch or did you just modify them?
Yes custom made. Water tight. Stainless piano hinge and big gasket. No gas cylinder, a hd arm from mc master Carr. Wayyy better.
Sweet 👍
Good job u did brother u can put some gusset to let the table rest on it maybe just saying
Under the table? It was the original plan to put adjustable rubber feet to take some weight but the cables are doing the job better that i expected.
What did you do to your suspension to carry all the weight
Air bags.
Looks great! Did you do any suspension upgrades to the truck?
Yes but i installed a kit of air bags in the video i only had 15psi so the truck looked squatted. Now i run left side 68psi and right side 74 and the truck is perfectly level. I will make an other video this summer with improvements and mods i did.
Do you have a part number for that arm? Had gas struts but the dont last, been using a broken broom handle haha

Nice set up how much did it all cost if you don't mind me asking
