Preventing theft of welding machine
This is a easy way to prevent teft of your welding machines. Just hide a Apple Airtag inside the machine. I equiped all my portable suitcase and plasma's with this setup and i can follow them on my phone. When i leave equipements on job site during a weekend for example, i can sleep better nowing they can be found if stolen.

Best and toughest angle grinder
Переглядів 11 тис.2 роки тому
My 2 cents on angle grinder. I used lots of different one in 20 years, and in this video I talk about a few that I own at the moment and some that I tried in the past fey years. At the end I present my favourite of all time, personal best and toughest angle grinder, the Makita 9005B.
Homemade welding skid

Custom made welding skid on 2018 GMC sierra 1500. Homemade aluminum tool box. Cable reels. Miller trailblazer 325 efi excell power. Vice attachement. Back rack and roof platform.
You can still buy the 9005B in Canada. One of the best selling Makita grinders still.
Manufacturers are very smart. They dangle life time warranty as a major selling point, knowing that most customers never file for it.
Just found your channel. Great video. Appreciate the information on the grinders. Looking forward to additional videos sir. Great job.
🙌thank you for this review
well done!
Thanks
Awesome skid!!!
Great insightful personal review. I have not been able to find a review/comparison of 7”/9” grinders. Makita, DeWalt, Rigid, and Milwaukee all have 15 amps around the 4 HP; DeWalt has one at 5+ HP. I work mainly with concrete and am not clear on what makes the ones advertised for that specific application so expensive. A video covering that size range, the relationship between HP to amps, and the difference between metal vs concrete applications would be a huge help.
Hi max, relationship between HP to amp is a good question indeed. For welding specifically, 7" and 9" grinder are rarely used, so I cannot help you with that. For a 5" like the 9005B in the video, what make it so tough is not just the amp rating, but also the faster speed. The 1000RPM extra on top really help to give HP for hardcore grinding. Like any engine, you get more torque at hi speed. On top of that, it gets a better cooling since more air is flowing through. If I can help you to choose a big grinder for your task, I can say that the Ridgid 7" is not that tough. I had it fix after 1 year of light use. It was the carbon brush holder that melt away. They must have been made out of material that does not like heat. For the makita's the brush holder are made of bakerlite. A brittle heat-resistant material. Stick welding handle are made of that too. By the way, the repair on my ridgid was free. Lifetime guarantee.
Dam you do some great work
That's really nice! You did a good job!
I love that Makita model 9005B
That’s exactly what I want to build for my truck definitely would like to see more videos
45+ years in the trade I've used Pretty much all the types and the Makita 9005b was my favorite. I would also use a 7inch 5/32"disc with a made up 7inch 120degree guards. Just like store bought when built properly. 120degree guards at that time were legal via OHS for pipe. 180degree Guards grinding on pipe are downright dangerous. Always changed out the 6ft cord for a 15foot. I worked a lot on big inch pipe. The grinders stood up quite well. I had 6 on my truck at all times. never had to fix any in the field. Owned 15 in all states of repair and would once a year spend 2 days fixing and repairing. Switches, brushes, and cords would be the main fix
I made a sliding stand for angle grinder. here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/5uMS8vRUmtU/v-deo.html
Awesome job
You are too damn Awesome dude ! More power to you .
I have been fabbing for 26 years and still struggle with keeping it simple. This is spot on KISS in principle. Super respect and great show piece of your skill set and line of thought.
Thank you sir, i have to admit that i have 21 years of crafting metal work to get there. But like you said simplicity is key.
What did you do to your suspension to carry all the weight
Air bags.
Awesome skid! Very well thought out and simple nice work
Is the tailgate fab table insulated from the truck. Welding on it will likely burn the computer for the truck up. If it’s insulated how did you do that?
I never welded from the tailgate because it’s not insulated. I have a good set of foldable work bench that i can use for a "table" if needed. To tell you the truth 19jobs out of 20 that i do, doesn’t need a work table in the field. I have a well equipped fab shop and i always pre fab everything so that i only have to install in the field.
Good job u did brother u can put some gusset to let the table rest on it maybe just saying
Under the table? It was the original plan to put adjustable rubber feet to take some weight but the cables are doing the job better that i expected.
Sur la coche!!
Pretty slick!
Very nice. Well thought out!
Nice job! I like it!
Excellent job.i did something similar, I now have custom deck
Wich one did you buy? Or did you build custom?
Nice set up how much did it all cost if you don't mind me asking
Since i made the tool box myself the entire build is aroune 2500$. I went hard on the painting, after sand blast i got 2 coat of epoxy primer and 5 coat of tremclad oil base black paint on top.
That is an awesome skid sir!
Sweet 👍
The nicest I have ever seen. I really like the built in storage.
Belle job, c'est pro ça!
Great build!
Do you have a part number for that arm? Had gas struts but the dont last, been using a broken broom handle haha

Nice work. Great ideas. That fold down tailgate/table, maybe solid links or chain to hold up.
i put metal lashing and by rotating the cable when i close the tailgate table the cable move out of the way by twisting. I will show that in a video one day. The trick was just to rotate the ibolt a specific way and everytime i close the gate the cable move out of the way. The thing is that the gap between the gate and the rack is 1/8. With chains i would have to mowe them out of the way everytime.
Can you make a video of how it removes out? Is it all 1 unit including the ladder rack
I will make a video to how i remove it this summer. I will also make a update video of improvements i did. Like fire extinguisher, tool box mod, and more.
Looks great! Did you do any suspension upgrades to the truck?
Yes but i installed a kit of air bags in the video i only had 15psi so the truck looked squatted. Now i run left side 68psi and right side 74 and the truck is perfectly level. I will make an other video this summer with improvements and mods i did.
You do some good work. Did you build those toolboxes from scratch or did you just modify them?
Yes custom made. Water tight. Stainless piano hinge and big gasket. No gas cylinder, a hd arm from mc master Carr. Wayyy better.
Excellent build!!! Great job!!!
Nice set up, simple and effective, the rack i think will come in handy more than a guy figures.
I climb on it twice to attach my ladder. I now realize it was necessary.
Fantastique my friend. That looks awesome.
