Bass singer had kinda similar story, his friend passed away and this was his favourite song. It took over a year for him to be even able to sing the song. And if i dont remember wrong, this was the first performance after his friend passed away so it had obviously huge load of emotions for him.
❤️Such a beautiful personal story, thank you for sharing! My feelings on the venue were all over the place. We had flown from Luxembourg back to Finland on that day, I had just had time to go home to see my 3-month old daughter and leave for this gig. While I was singing I was thinking about the mindless wars and conflicts we face everyday, near and far, and what kind of a world this will be for my child. This rendition was the first time we sung this arrangement together, live in front of an audience. After this the feel of the song has deepened more and more. It was my best friends favourite, and I lost him very unexpectedly six years ago. After the funerial, I stayed at his grave and sang this, or tried to, crying all the way. It is a very, very emotional song for me as well.❤️ All the best, Tuukka (the bass from Club For Five)
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your arrangement was superb and your vocals wonderful. And thank you so much for sharing your arrangement with Home Free, that was a very nice thing for you do to. This was the first time hearing you but it wont be the last.
I can't believe it's really you! Thank you for sharing your feelings about your song too! I am in love with this song and your voice since the very first day I heard it, no... felt it! I also went through a difficult time. The only thing I ever wanted to be was a surgeon. I studied hard and in 2003 I became a doctor and in 2009 a surgeon. But when I started college, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and had many surgeries myself. Until one went very bad at the end of 2019. I lost most of my small intestines. Because of this I have to feed myself intravenously (peripheral nutrition) every single day. I can't work anymore, I lost my job, the banks took back the mortgage, lost my new house I built from the ground up, got divorced and lost my wife and finally I went bankrupt and lost all my stuff. Now I live back with my parents as a 47 year old disabled guy. I built my whole life in 43 years and lost everything in 18 months! I have two children, a boy (15) and a girl (12). They are the reason I keep going. In these tough times I regularly listen to your song and it gave me the strength to persevere. Thank you so much for singing this one! All the best to you and C45! Bob C.
Thanks for reacting to this and sharing your story behind it. Brothers in Arms has been one of my go to songs when I feel blue and it does hold a special place in my heart too. And important words at the end of your video, always amazing when you say something like it.
Thank you so much for the background information about you and this song. I appreciate your courage for opening up to us so we can share with you. It is a very emotional song, my Dad served in WWII and came back a broken man and never recovered from the experiences. Home Free another acapella group, has released their version and it is truly Amazing and Brilliant. Would really love to see you react to that version. Thank you for your reaction, new viewer and subscriber.
This song, this version, these five people... it is my all time favourite song. Although Im not a soldier, just a surgeon, hearing this beautiful voices in perfect harmony and the deep deep bass tingles every cell in my body and I cannot hold back my tears. It just resonates with my soul I guess. Man, that must be hard for you to associate this one with your dad's funeral. We all thank him for his service! Thank you for sharing your story about this song. Take care!
Your intro alone had me in tears. Well, I'm an old sappy guy. I never fought in any war, but this song gets to everyone eventually I guess. I got the LP when it was released and although it is not my fovourite Dire Straits album, this song has grown on me over the decades passed
New subbie here. Found you via Peter Barber’s reaction channel, looking for this performance. Just stunning. Screw the haters, and the nitpickers. You grieve as your soul requires.
New subscriber, came here after listening to Home Free’s version , where they credit Club for Five with the arrangement. The visuals on the Home Free version make it even more meaningful. The a Capella community is very tight-knit.
That got to me as well.... made me think of my father, hearing you talk about yours. He’s been gone over 20 years and I also got teary, just thinking of him. He never served because he was in an essential industry but your story got to me. ❤️🤘🇦🇺
this always being my favorite dire straits song and man this a cappella style make this song glory in big time. great great cover. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
Thanks for sharing more of your story man and how this song has been in your life. His low deep voice was stunning. Your father acting as skipper for that powerful machine in Vietnam is amazing to me. Jeremy Clarkson spent 100k to remake one of the patrol boats and spent a lot of time in the Seamen special of Grand Tour explaining about what it meant to captain one of them and flying always at full speed through narrow rivers. Wow.
I don't know if it is permitted to do this but in absolute respect if you love this song and love a cappella as I do, you may want to check out a group called Home Free, they too are an a cappella group and just released this song on YT.
Cool song. I'd really like you to check out Silverstein: Smile in your Sleep, Discovering the Waterfront, Massachusetts for your get to know the band reactions but I feel like I'll have to pay to get my request heard :-/
I have heard all three versions of this song now. Please listen to home frees version, I think it is the absolute best of the 3. It takes this song and turns it into a hymn for the fallen. It is haunting.
Na, not my kind of beer without Marks guitar. That is just an epic guitar song just like "Time" or "Comfortably Numb" from Floyd and i also don't really wanna hear a capella version of those i guess.

The Acapella group Home Free just came out with their version of this song. You should really check it out. So beautiful
Yes I agree. It's based on this arrangement. It's as haunting and has beautiful video.
@@MarielleSweden That is true, I had forgotten that they did base theirs on this arrangement.
Please listen to Hope Frees version...... omg!! It’s beautiful ❤️

You should really check out this song just released by the a cappella group Home Free. They do a superb job with the harmonies. It's worth it.
Lost friends, man.
It's painful to listen to, but so good as well.

@@Marcell0Bass hello friend
Amazing reaction, thanks for the background. It's hard to remember and relive certain moments in our life's. Loosing a close one is never easy...
Well said!
I am always in tears listening to this!

Also like dire straights version too
Wait till you hear the version of this very arrangement by Home Free. It will bring strong emotions.
Absolutely beautiful!!
Go rest high on the mountain is the one that tares me up, sometimes I just want to go home to my heavenly father
Try the version of Home Free. Stay safe
Powerful

This version is good but the Homefree version is more arresting. They are also a capella. No reaction is requested. Just enjoy
