Thanks so much! I think cutting out the mistakes can make things feel more difficult than they are. So when you see someone else making a mistake it's easier to relate.
Congrats on getting sponsorships! That is awesome and I love seeing this channel grow. Thank you for also leaving your learning errors in the video. It is very helpful for us novices. Keep doing what you are doing and hope you and your family are doing well down in the lower 48.
Derek, great job on a cool build project. Thanks for including the parts list on the fixture, too. Looking forward to more on your HM makeover project!
LOVE this ! Thank you for showing the wiring process, warts and all. I actually have a antique chandelier I could do this with. I needs to be rewired anyway...Except it has a brass pipe that attaches to the ceiling . Its gonna be a lot of cord threading...
Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! This has been THE biggest, baddest, most sought-after effect from the Haunted Mansion (for me) and NO ONE has answered this until now. Thank you and cannot wait to try it for myself. (Now the only other effect are the super bright tripple LEDs in the Candles for the Haunted Mansion Holiday exterior jack-o-lanterns and candles.)
Your videos have been great and I have learned a ton from them. Looks great. I just finished "Phase 1" of our Haunted Mansion guest room (my wife insists we should be done). I went the route of using VOCOlinq lights to simulate the candlelight. Changing portrait and Pepper's Ghost are my next part of the project.
I recently built this chandelier but with five lights and I found 3 of those light bulb things with the mantle. I put them on the chandelier and I noticed odors. I don't know if they are toxic, but I noticed like an adhesive tape or something on the lightbulbs and the mantle covers. I tried removing the adhesive tape that was burnt and I can still smell the odor but its subtle. Is it toxic? I was wondering if you had the same problem.
That doesn't sound good. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about its toxicity. I didn't notice a smell on mine, but I'm also not sure if they're the same as yours.
My gut says no. The style of gas lamp they’re trying to replicate doesn’t flicker like a flame the way the new flame bulbs do. The gas mantle lights subtly dim and get bright.
Another great video. Was wondering though with the simflame unit, you used 4 of the hot wires but looped the 5th. And I didn't see a wire nut on it. Do the dip switchs allow for shutting off the current?
Yeah. The company that makes the bulbs I used no longer makes them. But I believe you can use gas mantle mesh over a similarly shaped bulb with the same effect. Not 100% certain, but I think the mesh would be alright being close to the bulb. Something like this: amzn.to/3Kv6ql8
Is there a reason you chose to do only four lights? I was just looking at the Grand Brass website and they do offer the rings with five holes and the Simflame module has five channels. Doing five lights would've been more authentic to the ride and would've made full use of the channels on the module.
Great question. The room this is going into is on the small side and a 5 light chandelier would have really overpowered the space. So I decided that I’d go with 4 and if I ever move to a larger room I can replace the body with the 5 hole version and add the additional arm.
@@VanOaksProps Fair enough. Would love to see your chandelier once you have it installed where you're putting it and possibly covered in cobwebs as suggested by Hollywood Haunter.
@@VanOaksProps Detail I never noticed before. The chandeliers in the California mansion do have five lights but the ones in the Florida mansion have six.
Oh, crazy! There is a 4 bulb version in the DLR mansion that another viewer pointed out to me. It's in the corridor of doors. The only difference is that the lamp shades are red instead of white.
I sure would like to work with you one day. I'm a world class magician and my specialty is creepy magic in the magic Community this is called bizarre Magic making ghost talking to the Dead reading Minds hypnotizing people and of course creepy baby dolls
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been wanting to do something similar. I didn't know you could buy individual chandelier parts and build your own like this. Where did you get those gas mantle bulbs?
The gas mantle bulbs I was able to hunt down via a fellow haunted mansion collector. They’re pretty hard to come by, so the fact that he had some really made this project a no brainer.
Awesome. Well done. Just curious, I've seen the same things on the lamps in the Haunted Mansion, but what purpose do the "socks" (for lack of a better term) serve on the lamps? Is it simply to diffuse the lights?
I think I remember seeing a few cobwebs covering that light fixture in the ride you better get to spinning Haha! Looks amazing buddy 👍
I’ve been thinking about it!
Thank you for explaining your mistake and how to avoid it. That kind of information is invaluable!! Love your channel and your creations!
Thanks so much! I think cutting out the mistakes can make things feel more difficult than they are. So when you see someone else making a mistake it's easier to relate.
Super cool that you can configure a light fixture out of parts like that. It's like fancy tinker toys!
Yeah, you just pick and choose to make it however you want.

Thanks!! Gotta share the good and the bad. Lol
This is so cool! I love it!
Thanks!!
Thanks so much for the mention! Great tutorial, and I'm excited for even more Mansion chandeliers to pop up all over :-)
You bet!
Derek, great job on a cool build project. Thanks for including the parts list on the fixture, too. Looking forward to more on your HM makeover project!
You bet! Thanks for checking it out.
So cool!!! That lamp base is so neat!
Thanks!
That chandelier turned out fantastic! That Simflame controller looks pretty nifty too. Still have office envy! Hope y’all are doing great! 🎃🎃❤️
Thanks man! I’ve been enjoying your new series!
Super cool Derek! It’s such a great effect and I love those Simflame units! Thanks for another awesome video! 😍👍
Thanks, Steve! Yeah, the Simflame is really perfect for this effect.
A full parts list?!? Yeeeeeeesssssss 🌚🌝👁👄👁
You bet!

You bet! It definitely took a lot of planning
About 350$ in materials. Gotta love it.
Indeed!
!!!LOVE!!!
Thanks, Jeffrey!
Good job Derek! Love the hickey.lol
I think "hickey" is my new favorite word!
Thanks! Yeah, the hickey is crucial! lol

You’re very welcome! Glad I was able to solve the mystery.
This is fantastic. I love the way you explain everything. It makes perfect sense. Great tutorial!
Thanks, Cheryl!
Thank you so much for your tips ! Im using everything to make my nativity scene on december
You are so welcome!
Learned a new term today in hickey. Always good to know stuff. EDIT: corrected spelling of hickey.
Yeah, that was a new one for me too.
A VERY cool build... but ouch! $119.95 for the SimFlame module. Sure looks good though!
Not cheap, but the effect is awesome.
Wiring is always a pain, always getting knotted up and such. The lighting really came out looking great! cheers
Thanks!

Pretty cool! I wonder if the new led candelabra flame bulbs would look as nice as the sim flame.

There's a parts store to buy everything you need to make your own antique looking chandelier?!?!?
That’s right!

Great question. I don’t believe it does. I need to make a few adjustments to the wiring, so I’ll be able to add in that missing wire nut.
Did they provide the bulbs with the cover?
No. I had purchased the bulbs from a fellow collector.
@@VanOaksProps its hard the find the ones with the covers

They’re meant to replicate the look of old gas mantle lamps. So technically they serve no function, aside from hiding the bulb.
@@VanOaksProps where can you get these look alike mantle socks?
Where is the part that makes the bulb look like a gas mantle?
Unfortunately, they aren’t made anymore. But if you can find some fiberglass cloth mantles for propane lanterns and some wire you could make your own.
I hate wiring and hanging any form of lamps. Anything I need now the electrician comes over for to swear at.
Yeah, I stick to the REALLY simple stuff. Everything else gets a professional.
