  • While not exactly part of the Haunted Mansion Home Office build, this blast-up ghost has been on my to-do list for years and now that I'm making progress on the room, I figured I'd spend some time between larger projects on some of my collection that will make the room feel even more like being at the Haunted Mansion. So join me while I cross off one more piece for my Haunted Mansion home office collection.

    I can't believe Windex works for thinning airbrush paint. Especially considering how expensive actual airbrush paint thinner is.
    Thanks for the tip!

    First rate build per usual Derek! That hat box is gorgeous! A great addition to your office on its own. It would be awesome to include the full pneumatic effect. Maybe a rig using canned air?

    Great build project, Derek, and one that may come in handy for the launch of my yard haunt this year. Have to admit, I was expecting it to end with a working pop-up in action, but you got it close enough. : ). I'd noticed fewer and fewer of these pop-ups working in the Mansion unless there were renovations, especially since some scenes have gotten brighter and brighter. Good seeing that some appear to have returned after this recent rehab. I really liked your paint job on the head mold in the spirit of the HM originals. Thanks!

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  3 роки тому +2

      Because I knew that it would be in my office, having it move just seemed like a bad idea. With air, at least. Plus the hatbox is pretty shallow and you'd still see its head when all the way down. Maybe some day in the future I'll make it move, but for now I'm just happy that it's not still sitting in a pile on the floor.

    Here’s a tip when cutting fur: don’t use scissors, instead use a sharp blade to cut the back material to both avoid extreme shedding and to maintain as much fur as possible.

    As a static dust collector...uh, collectible, I seem to focus on the stand more than the rocket skull. Since it is not going to move, do the side dowels need to go beyond the skull? Also, would a black paint job on the dowels make them blend into a dark background better?

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  3 роки тому +1

      Correct. The rods don’t need to go beyond the skull. It was just a personal design choice. Yes, painting the rods would definitely help them to disappear a bit more.
