    One of my biggest flaws in this game is that I tilt really easily. I eat a string, I get pissed off, and I stop thinking, and I get crushed even harder. It's a terrible cycle.

      I haven't seen the video yet but I'm like just like you.
      What I do is just playing less by doing a FT5. If I win or lose my 5 sets I leave ranked and watch the replays later to take a break. FT5 are perfect for me because I can put all my focus on the game before even getting tilted.
      I feel it is efficient for me and I'm getting the most out of my sessions and focus more on those strings or anything that got me. Next session I focus on things I saw during replay time and work on it.
      I don't know if it was helpful but enjoy your day.

      @@skygoldens828 that's actually not a bad idea! I'll try it out. Mostly I just tell myself that it's a game, but that's hard to do when you're stuck in the king loop of Doom and can't seem to get the right frame to break out.

      @@RubyFire-t3q Personally I really hate to lose (I'am a bit of a sore loser Hahahaha).
      So I use Tekken to learn how to lose. Tekken 8 is my first game in the franchise but from what I've experienced the game is so vast that you will always eat bullshit things along the way because you just don't have the knowledge to counter it.
      Take funny jaguar man throw loops for exemple, you have to eat them to know they exists. It will be frustrating. When you are frustrated just take some time of the game, come back when your head is clear then lab the king throw that got you and learn how to break it.
      Eventually you'll go in game, find a king and break the throw that got you, it will feel great but you will get grab by something else. Now you'll know what to do. Little by little you will accumulate knowledge and get better but it takes a lot of time. But we have to embrace losing in order to get better.

      That's the forever salt cycle that everyone goes through in competetive games. Can't really do much outside of "cowboying" it out.

      It's just a game and losing is ok. Take your fragile ego and sense of self out ur as. That's what I tell myself so I don't get tilted.

    Part of what makes Tekken so difficult is that we have to train on combos and flowcharts to the point that we don't even have to think about it to execute... we have to be able to execute complicated sequences without thought... and thats the trap. We're not thinking anymore.
    The game actively conditions us to be this way.
    The solution (well, my solution) is to break my flowcharts down and learn how to mix them as smaller components. Keep doing that and eventually you have a "vocabulary" of personal expression that can be form-fitted to an emergent situation.
    Also should say, I am a Xiaoyu main for 25 years now. So this makes sense for her, Yoshi, Hworang, etc... characters that have extremely high expressive celings- but might not make as much sense for Jin, Bryan, etc.

    Tekken 8 is my first Tekken I wanted to put time in to learn. Idk if this was the best way to learn but I just go on ranked with no expectations in winning a lot of matches. I expose myself against characters after learning most of the moves of mine. I’ll play about an hour or two of ranked then just sit and watch replays on proper punishes for certain characters. This is literally the first game I got written notes on how to play against certain characters😂

    • @mochatm9202
      @mochatm9202 2 місяці тому +1

      "Hesitation is death". You can't improve if you don't go out and expose yourself to ranked. That's a well rounded mindset.
      Maybe labbing some specific scenarios also is really important, but that's about it.
      Cheers

    Punishing things incorrectly has been the bane of my existence lately, as a Reina player I find it real hard to launch punish lows because of her lack of a WS launcher (hers is FC df4). This turns characters with good lows into gatekeeper demons. I really REALLY gotta drill that.

    As someone whos been playing Tekken for years here is my advice... TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN 1 CHARACTER!!!. I cannot repeat this enough!. Most newbies think that this is SF or MK and that you can just pick any character and win. It doesn't work like that in Tekken. I advise playing with said character at least 1000 wins, not 1000 matches....1000 wins. You will then start to understand what works and what doesn't.

    Seems like labbing or doing drills helps you a lot. I've talked to people who said it doesn't help them much because they can execute the solution in training, but the pressure in the actual match will still get them caught by whatever they were losing to. So I refuse to believe you "win in the lab." You win in the match because regardless of what happens in practice, you still have to execute it in game.
    Basketball players practice shooting all day every day, and they'll still have an off game when they are playing against actual competition. I do think your examples are good and should at least help most people. But it's not GUARANTEED. Drills aren't for everybody. Some people just need to lose to it and feel that pressure to change before they change. No matter how many throw break drills I run through, I some how still get thrown. But what's helped me is getting in an actual match, figuring out how to break the throw on spot because none of the other options worked, then I'm good. It becomes a lot less scary in an actual match.
    Overall GREAT advice tho. Appreciate the content.

    • @raidennc
      @raidennc 2 місяці тому +4

      If you're stuck at Kishin the top tiers are not the problem. There are plenty of Hwoarang's who have made it far past Kishin. You likely have some clear deficiencies in your game. Which is ok! We all do. But deflecting responsibility to the tier list is counter-productive and based in falsehood.

    You don't get good at the game unless you have natural talent and/or can adapt to idiocy. You people worship this game as if it's perfect. As if losing is always the losers fault. I cringe every time someone says 'skill issue'. Tekken is filled with bs and most of the time the person with less brain cells wins. I am embarrassed to be tekken emperor because it means that I have less brain cells than an average person as i am somewhat 'good' at the game

  • @drdoommm1746
