SQUASH. Hopes crushed by the referee's decision

5th game and 14-13 match ball in the Polish Natonial Championships. The player stops, thinks he won (STROKE?) and starts celebrating.
But the ref says "YES LET".
What's your decision?

I remember a similar situation in one of the PSA tournaments. Referee dictated a stroke. The player explained that, after all, he was running away and did everything to make room, but it was not possible and he expected a let. The referee argued that in such a situation he should think and play the ball so as not to put himself in such a situation, when he knows he will not be able to escape and not interfere. The referee emphasized that you can't always play any ball and count on let, because there was no way to escape.

You mean playing the ball after swinging his racquet through the other guys torso? I think he was expecting a stroke because it's a stroke to prevent the striker from being able to swing their racquet
