Hello thanks for the video it was awesome I subscribed! I did have a question though. How is the Orange Pi One running RetrOrangePi in terms of heating up? I plan on putting it in an enclosure with a small heatsink. Have you done any tests playing the system for a few hours/days? I have read that H3 chips tend to run "hot".
I have not tested it long enough for that. Armbian community has done some work to optimize the scheduler to handle overheating, so a heatsink could be enough. In the past, there were some Linux images with a 1.5 GHz kernel (overclocked), and Allwinner H3 would be hot pretty quickly, but now images are using a 1.2 GHz kernel.
No I haven't. For RetrOrangePi it will be basically the same as on Orange Pi One, except the games may load a bit faster. The eMMC flash in PI+ 2E should help a lot with overall system performance due to faster I/Os.
Multiple connections should be supported over Bluetooth, but I'm not sure how the system handles the multiple gamepads, and whether they may be some lag.
I would replace the column driver of the TV with one from the either sides...when its in the middle its annoying :D should be an easy reflow job if you got heatgun
That's just my test TV. It does not look that good, but it still does the job. I don't have a heat gun, but even if I had one I'd be afraid to damage the thing further.
My 4K LG TV stopped working properly after about 18 months with those vertical lines appearing. More details @ www.cnx-software.com/2016/08/06/inside-lg-4k-tv-and-my-unsuccessful-attempt-at-repairing-it/
Yes, you could, but I don't recommend it. It could seriously slow down load times. You'd better check the IOPS value (if available) rather than just Class 4 or class 10. The guys at armbian did a comparison, and if I remember correctly Samsung EVO 32GB is one of the best.
Tronsmart Mars G01 - www.cnx-software.com/2014/07/21/tronsmart-mars-g01-wireless-gamepad-review-on-android/ But if you already have a gamepad from your game console(s) or your PC, it would likely work too.
I have not tried any external ROMS so far. But the firmware is supposed to support ROMS from USB flash drives, and USB hard drives should be seen the same way as flash drives.

have you considered doing a video showing the Orange Pi + 2e using retrorangepi or armbian or another linux distro?... I've got one on order already.
No I haven't. For RetrOrangePi it will be basically the same as on Orange Pi One, except the games may load a bit faster. The eMMC flash in PI+ 2E should help a lot with overall system performance due to faster I/Os.
Can we connect multiple gamepads with only 1 Bluetooth dongle connected to the orange pie ?? 😁

cnxlinux can you try it and tell me the result please ?

Can you set it up so that it boots first into Kodi? And that you later go into emulation?
I have not tried it, but I have seen the option to launch Kodi at boot time instead.
why is there a grey vertical bar on your screen?

ahh... gotcha, thanks for sharing!
can i use a class 4 sd card instead of class 10?

cnxlinux hi a question do You have a model or link of the gamepad and usb dongle wireless?? Thanks

are you able to play roms from an external hard drive?
I have not tried any external ROMS so far. But the firmware is supposed to support ROMS from USB flash drives, and USB hard drives should be seen the same way as flash drives.
cnxlinux I am having problems getting roms onto my orange pi pc, how do you do it?
I have not done it. It's probably better to ask on RetroPi or RetrOrangePi websites or dedicated communities. People will be more knowledgeable there.
I figured it out, just drop and drag files in armbian FYI
