- Опубліковано 9 лис 2020
- In this video I go over the cost of starting a winery, at least our cost. we go over major purchases like tanks and licensing costs to help you guys with your set up. We are a small vineyard and winery that have been open for a year. I want to help you plan for the start of your winery dreams and business. subscribe for more micro winery tips and insights or just to see more animals.
check out the the equipment featured in the video at: www.morebeer.co...
Thank you for posting your videos. I am starting a small winery on my premises. Your video helped me to get approved with TTB. Now I am waiting for approval from the State and local. This has been a nervous and exciting adventure.
I am so happy for you. I still feel nervous and excited. You got this I will be first in line to buy a bottle.
Finally a guy who just gives it to me straight you’re my guy
Thanks! I do try to be as honest as possible. There is a lot of gate keeping that can happen in wine making.
Really nice.
Thank you
FANTASTIC video! We are interested in starting a winery in Nevada. Let the research and beginning leg work begin!
Another good place to get fermentation vessel’s, I cruise garage sales and flee markets for carboys and home brew equipment, I know they are limited gallonage but starting off it’s a good cheap way to get going. Plus starting out, if you screw up a batch it’s not as big of a loss. Also a good way to experiment before committing to a large run.
Yeah we still use smaller tanks all the time for that reason
I want a meadery but since the ttb still considers it wine until changes are made this is a great video and I think it helps everyone
I have enjoyed and learned from your videos. I am starting a vineyard and homestead in Virginia on a low budget.
am looking for information that summarizes the annual labor/work/task schedule for a small /homestead winery. ie: a short list or summary of what is generally done each. month of the year and a general idea/ball bark how many people may be required for those tasks/timeframes. Can you direct me where to look? or have you a video that covers this? thanks!
I have done some of this and will be working on some more still in the coming months. I have done a small cow herd breakdown, and how much to plant a vineyard and our winery start up cost. I will be doing a vineyard cost analysis in the near future along with other winery processes. Check out this play list to get you started

Man thank God me and my wife were wanting to start a Vineyard here and I'm not rich I run heavy equipment you know and my mother-in-law passed away and we're going to inherit a little bit of money so we're going to buy some of the farm back and I was thinking of your long-term you or something for a family business thank you for making it as simple as you did cuz I've been here all day long on Valentine's 2020 trying to figure this out and I keep jumping from link to link to link to link thank you for making it easy
No problem. The biggest hurtle is the permit. Its not expensive but can feel hard. Everything else you can buy in pieces as you grow. Im rooting for you! Inknow you guys can do it. Keep us posted on your progress!
Yes! This is it! Thank you for the information. Shout out from Illinois. Happy New Year. *following
Thank you for followng from completely the other side of the country! I hope I can help you in your wine journey. As a side note, I am also a teacher.
Great, informational video! How many cases and varietals of wine do you produce with the tanks you mentioned?
I did about 120 cases with three varietals, I finished them all two ways dry and semi sweet.
You have given me CONFIRMATION I had no idea THANK YOU !!
yes. it is a lot more approachable then some places would leave you to believe. There are things I have to rent out and stop gaps, but you don't need a million dollar endowment. This venture has been one of the most rewarding I have done.
Thanks!
Great video!!!! I hope you put out a book❤️🇺🇸
Great video. Came from Reddit. Will be staying. Nice one.
Thanks Brother. Hope I can help you out.
I would like to possibly start my own micro winery within the next year or two here in Texas
Now is the time to do it. get some land and you can get started on your application for a permit.
Now...to translate the costs you mentioned into NY state costs....
Until I can confirm otherwise, I'll just assume a 50% markup on all associated permit costs 😂
this was actually really helpful because i was concerned that this would cost me a tonne more than I thought. Please reach out to me so we can talk more about these process. If it's ok with you, I would like to reach out and ask more questions
I will help as much i can. I will say the first steps are finding a site and getting your federal winery permit.
I like the video but the background music is too loud imo
Thanks for the input. I will lower it in the next one.
cool but am sorry can you give me advice because i want to start small scale of wine production
If you are trying to sell, i would recommend applying for your federal permit. If you are just trying to make more wine. I would recommend getting tanks with spouts on them. I have videos to help with permits if you are in the USA
My friend great stuff. I need guidance on Fruit wine making. Are the equipment the same? I want to start on a small scale, to be able to produce about 500 bottle per months. What do I need to start? Need guidance on where to source correct equipment including chemicals. This is for a developing country withy lots of fruits available, and this will be started from a home. Thanks.
500 bottles is 100 gallons. You will need about 4 or 5 tanks of that size or bigger. Keep 1 tanks empty to rack. Keep the others full. The minimum you need for chemicals is metabisulfite to keep wine fresh.
@@tempecreekwine please can u help in where to source this equipment? A lot I am still learning, a 50 gallon equipment will do to start. Thank you.
We have a couple acres within the city limits near Portland Oregon and considering some farming as in a vineyard and small winery do you know much about tax breaks and USDA bonuses such as Barn grants or anything like that?
Typical tax break we get are ag exemptions, so tax free purchases. Also, you get to deduct your investment as losses from the business profits. Until its balances out, but you do have to show a profit at some point.
Did you have any trouble with trademarking you name and was there any cost associated with that?
i would say NOT MUCH! 10 years ago,a trademark was seven dollars and a half is all ! getting a lawyer for this is high and unnesesssesssary
would it be the same for mead?
waco tx here
Yeah same permit.
It’s hard to hear of the music
Could you refer a lawyer or person who I cold hire to do that application process?
I didnt use a lawyer I just bumbled my way through it. was worth it though. I'm about to start concentrating on videos that help guide you through the process next. I will be 50% of my content for the next 3 months.
Very informational video. Thanks! Do you think we can connect sometime? We are looking to start a boutique winery and we do not have any any experience at all.
I would to help. I can give you any insight i have
This video is very helpful. I'm struggling with the process of opening my winery. I have similar equipment but can't find a building that is within a decent budget for a small winery. Do you have any helpful advice on another option so I can continue with my journey.
I have a question. I would love to open up my wine business, but I do not have a business address. Can I use my home/residential address? I don't plan to make my own wine at home, but to contract a winery/vineyard to produce my wine and label it with my approved label. Is this allowed in Texas where I reside? Or do I have to have a business address to have an online company separate from residential to even apply for Federal, State and Local permits? Thanks for your video, it was extremely helpful.
Yeah, you are going to need a separate residential and business. Becuase of of liquor laws you cant have certian things in your bonded area. You can cut your property boundary wise, but they will have to be separate.
@@tempecreekwine Thank you for your reply. It was very helpful. Love your content by the way. Keep on going.
Is this the same process for beer?
Yeah pretty close.
What about if I just grow grapes and sell them to someone else that makes the wine? That's what I am going to try and get info on?
You wont make any money. Estimate are about 10 acres to turn a profit on just grape gowing. It would be fine to exchange graoes for finished wine and save money by not buying any alcohol. I have a video on vineyard costs check it out.
Well darn. I still want to grow them for aesthetics here at our farm. Hope to one day turn this into a B&B/venue.
@@klbailey1967 yeah that is how we started. But after growing the grapes we decided to keep going.
Why didn’t the local level sign your permit?
We were the first and they didn't know what to do.
Great video but please delete the music. This is educational content... We won't learn anything if the music is too loud.
Can one open a winery without any winemaking experience
People do it all the time. You can hire a winemaker and learn. Then take over once you are ready.
I agree that the terrible background music messed up your otherwise great video
Please no music
Cut the music!
Cut the music!!!!
You messed it with the background . terrible music .
Should start a Winery sub on reddit.
That is a great idea. I just know if I have the time to mod it. Do have experience being a moderator on reddit?
Hi. Mod from /r/winemaking and /r/viticulture here. Moderating a sub doesn’t take much time at all once you have your basic rules and a mod team in place. For low traffic subs, a single person can easily moderate. The real challenge, like any platform, is in growing the audience.
@@tempecreekwine I am happy to help with the moderating if you ever decide to do a sub, I am starting my winery gradually, with a first vintage of 400 bottles, so I am in the same boat as you guys and can relate.
I might take you on this offer. send me a way to get in contact with you.
@@tempecreekwine Just sent you an email.
