People often compliment me on my Salesforce training soft skills, but Mr. Hays here deserves a medal. Straight to the point presentation, real life examples. Congratulations!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that.
I didn't do any certification but to be honest ur videos helped me alot to know precisely about Salesforce admin 💯😊
Thanks for the knowledge ❤️
Our pleasure! Glad you found them helpful.
Great as always. Just to add, in a master-detail relationship, deleting the parent record also deletes the child records, preventing any orphaned records. However, in a lookup relationship, deleting the parent won't cascade delete the child records.
Thank you for the comment. This is right! Really good point to add.
This is a great series! You explained this better than Trailhead.
That's very nice. Glad it was helpful!
your vids r helpful
keep up
Glad you like them!
thanks brian

Hi, Bryan. I have a question. As per the example provided by you in this video, if I go to the Oppty object and try to create a New field, I do not have the option to create a Master - Detail Relationship. I just have two options - Lookup Relationship and External Lookup Relationship. Can Master-Detail be created on Salesforce standard objects?
Hi Ramya, great question. Unfortunately, you cannot create master-detail relationship fields on Standard Objects.
In my example, you would create the master-detail relationship on the custom Invoice object and the Opportunity object would be the master. You always add that field to the Detail object.
Does that help clear it up?
Great and to the point explaination. I just bumped on this video while searching for " How to update the Master field Data on Detail record". Unfortunately, it is not possible and Delete and insert is the only left option.
BTW.. Keep it up,.
Ashish. It is possible to "reparent" a detail record. You just need to make sure that the master-detail field settings have that option enabled. It's a checkbox labeled "Allow Reparenting". This might only be available for custom master-detail fields though.
@@Rotive : Thanks for your reply Rotive. All sorted.... I did enabled it but my attempt gt failed as I was trying immediately after enabling it. It took few moments( may be couple of minutes if not seconds) for the setting to be effective.
Oh wow. That’s good to know. Thanks for sharing!
