Best Seafood Restaurants In Bangalore. Mangalorean Food In Bangalore. Authentic Mangalorean Food In Bengaluru.
A favourite for Mangalorean fare in Bengaluru, Mangalore Pearl is always bustling with patrons who visit this spot for their taste of coastal Karnataka, more specifically the Mangalorean Catholic-style of seafood food.
Set up by Steven Pinto who left behind a lucrative career in the IT sector to pursue his dream of sharing the food he grew up with, this 15-year old restaurant rose to fame thanks to its spiced filled seafood dishes and Mangalorean classics.
In this episode of Gourmet On The Road, Food Lovers’ Editor, Kripal Amanna visits the Ulsoor outlet and meets with the brother duo that run the restaurant. He discusses the procurement of fresh seafood, the variety of curries on offer and also witnesses the making of two most popular fries, the Bangude and the Kane Fry.
He then sits down to a feast, tasting a bevy of coastal dishes, from a Pomfret Curry, Crab Masala, Khoobey Mootlien, Chicken Roce Curry and more!
GOURMET ON THE ROAD RATINGS
RAGI MANNI
the manni has a lush, creamy texture that takes over your palate! you taste the caramel notes of the jaggery. this mangalorean dessert resembles the Italian panacotta minus the cream. definitely a delicious way to end your meal here.

8/10
KHUBEY MOOTLIEN
this dish deserves attention when being savoured, especially when picking on the tiny yet sweet and mildly briny clam flesh. the rice dumpling has a sticky, slightly slimy texture that goes very well with the thick, velvety coconut based gravy. the flavour of the clams in this dish is reminiscent of the ocean.
rs 170 (2.40 usd)
8.5/10
CRAB MASALA
tossed in a semi-dry onion and tomato masala that complements the mildly sweet, flesh of this dotted sea crab don’t forget to suck on the crab meat!
rs 310 (4.30 usd)
8.5/10
POMFRET STEW CURRY
the spicing in this masala is mellow and refreshing and just right, allowing the flavours of the pristine, fresh pomfret to shine. this stew curry goes deliciously well with mangalore rice.
rs 480 (6.70 usd)
9/10
KANE TAWA FRY
this fish is as fresh as it gets! so delicates that the meat just flakes apart effortlessly. the pullimunchi masala gives off a warming note o f the byadgi chilli and also a slight tartness from vinegar. the fish has absorbed the masala, yet retains its unique flavour. be mindful of the tiny pin bones though!
rs 280. (4 usd)
9/10
BANGUDE FRY
the butterflied mackerel allows for the masala to penetrate the deep flavours of this fish. notwithstanding this, the mackerel asserts its strong flavour from the word go despite being fried in a spicy masala.
rs 120 (1.70 usd)
9/10
CHICKEN ROCE CURRY
a popular choice of chicken curry at mangalore pearl made with coconut milk, fried onions and gentle spices. best savoured with the soft, spongy sannas that disintegrate as it absorbs this flavourful curry. the chicken though, tastes better when in the company of the creamy curry.
rs 220. (3 usd)
8.5/10
PRAWN GHEE ROAST
soaking in oodles of ghee this is one of the best prawn ghee roasts i’ve tasted! the prawns are plump and fresh, being coated in all that roasted masala that does not overpower its sweet flavour. the neer dosa serves as the perfect combination to this dish. the beautiful balance of spice, toasty flavour notes of coconut oil, rich ghee and divine prawns will keep you coming back for this dish!
rs 295 (4.10 usd)
10/10
FRIED POTRADAY
this dish starts off as a rice cake steamed with spinach, coriander, cumin seeds and red chill that is then sliced, battered in a light spice mix and deep fried. it makes for an appetising start to a meal.
rs 120. (1.70 usd)
7.5/10
SOLKADI
this drink made of coconut milk, kokum juice, ginger, garlic and chilli certainly awakens the senses and the palate. a refresher with a bite.
rs 50 (0.70 usd)

@@TKAK9 Is this the new location? There is one in Benson town, near mosque road
No it is not mentioned
Let's hope you are not wasting food as lot of people are without food

There are very less you tubers who makes vlogs on Karnataka cuisines and and you are one of them, really love your work.. this vlog made me drool 🤤
Thank you, Archana, appreciate your love.
Your expression itself deserves a million subscription. Everything else compliments your sense of tasting food and giving a very honest review. As usual, superb presentation.
Yummy ..i didn’t know Bangalore had such good mangalorian cuisine restaurant 😍
Aerur
the smile and passion on ur face is enough for a foodie like me to watch...!
Finally I am happy to see one restaurant making Solkadi from coconut milk , else it’s curd based everywhere !
Though nothing much here for a vegetarian, I am gonna be there soon for solkadi alone 😃
Fish curry has to be preserved for day to get best taste ....only mangaloreans know the taste😋
I have to say, fish curry tastes better the next day! Fresh ghee dosas with fish curry..yum.
Same goes with Pork and Beef dishes.
its the same way in kerala also, most of the restaurants prepare fish curry early morning to serve for lunch or dinner, then only fish will soak up the masalas
The Kerliates also know how to make good fish curry...and preserve it
Yes
The sound of the fish 🐟 is music to my ears...Man wat a commentory...lov it dude.
🙏 Mahesh.
Great place to try Mangalorean Catholic style food. I lived close to this restaurant when it was in Frazer town. Robin Uthappa used to visit with his family
The smile in ur face after eating prawns ghee roast say everything about d dish
THANKS TO THE TRIO , STEVEN, NAVEEN & KRIPAL FOR THIS VIDEO. NICE TO SEE MANGALORE BOILED RICE AND THEEK AMBOT. KONKANIs NEVER FORGET TO HONOUR THE FOOD OF THE LAND (RAGI MANNI) WHILE RETAINING THEIR OWN COMMUNITY CUISINE.
GANESH PRABHU absolutely.. they blend so well and ensure there is linguistic harmony...
In Mangalore and not having seafood will be not justify u r visit. But u did justified u r Mangalore visit by visiting Mangalore Pearl. Seafood i love seafood. This video was a Treat for me sir. Loved all the dishes shown in this video. As specially Prawns dish, Crab dish & Clamp Dish. Loved other items too. This eatery seems nice & good in all things for Example : Good Ambiance, Good Staff, Nice service & Affordable Prices. At last also liked the desert u ate. Loved this video Kirpal Sir. Thanks for this video sir.
I love all Mangalorian dishes
Soooo yummmmmy testyyyy
Hi sir
This episode I enjoyed it to the last minute.
Kudos to the team for bringing out this episode to the best it can.
The explanation about food wow. When ever I am not hungry I just see one of your episodes it make me so hungry and I eat to the fullest.
Thank you, Deepak, happy you enjoyed it enough to stir up an appetite. Happy eating!
Another masterpiece of happy eating by Kripal.
Ragi Manni is very new to me.
I remember Manni prepared from finely ground rice, combined with Jaggery, Coconut milk, boiled until thickened to deep brown color, then poured on a dish smeared with pure Ghee (Tuppa) and garnished with bits of roasted cashew nuts, and let to cool down and set by itself without using refrigerator many years back.
Of course placing the set Manni in the fridge will also give better texture to the Manni.
Happy eating Mangalorean Catholic food everyone!!!!
The only affordable sea food restaurant in Bangalore...We used to have lunch at least once every week, before our office moved out of CBD. [at the old place in coles road] Very clean and very fast and tasty and good service. In summer they have breadfruit fry also. Neer dosa, ghee roast, tava fry... ... there are other better sea restaurants in Bangalore, but they are too expensive Or there are other shetty restaurants which have better fish dishes, but no cleanliness and misses on some neer dosa or other bread varieties .. So Mangalore pearl come as the one which can be visited frequently not the once in a while Karavali or Coast to coast...
The best of ur videos is u eat with ur hands not like other UA-camrs for showing they eat with fork n spoon.
If u eat with ur hands then only u can njoy the real taste of food.
Salute you sir 👍😊
20:28 I absolutely love your reactions to tasting food. So much better and more enjoyable to watch than all the other food channels! Cheers!

I have very good friend from Mangalore and so many times he talked about their Mangalorian food but I'm from North East and i never tasted before in my life so i have no idea how this food tastes but after watching your video im so much excited but unfortunately can't get Mangalorian food in my place 😭😭
Mangalorean food is certainly something you should experience, Ani, and more specifically in Mangalore. Hope you do get the opportunity to visit someday.
I added a comment on the 'Kripal Amanna' channel but perhaps I should add one here, since this channel has more subscribers. No one is better at conveying the tactile, olfactory, visual and immersive experience of food better than Mr. Kripal Amanna. He elevates the watching experience. I am watching this from thousands of miles away and it is making we homesick but for a part of India where I only visit a few times (and that too infrequently), and not where I am from! Thank you Mr. Kripal Amanna. Here is to wishing you a million plus subscribers and continued success! If it were upto me, you'd be eligible for an Emmy for best food documentary, but sadly, it isn't upto me. :)
Namma kudla❤️
