hey, when I look at 4100K CMH that spectrum of light appears to represent the sunlight the closest IMO...
Any chance you can review this spectrum and let me know if I'm wrong and where I'm wrong?
I know CMH had a little hype after HPS but then LED's took over.. 4100K came out later for CMH but I don't see a lot of info on it.
Maybe I'm just mistaken, but I would like to hear your input on it if you have the time.

What are good results to you? When I was using those old tech heat factory (except for people who live in very very cold environment it can be useful...Alaska north pole Siberia)I thought 1gpw was an urban legend but I tried and I never was able to get more than 0,8gpw 0,7gpw on average (with 8 weeks veg max...no co2 no a/c bagsoil nothing special)...when I built my first cxb3590 CD @1400mA panels I didn't change anything else than the lights and I went from 0,7gpw to 1,3gpw in 1 grow...I have Samsung lm301b diodes who allow me to pull 1,7gpw on average I will soon get some lm301h EVO and I hope for 2gpw on average with this efficiency...a little tips with those new diodes you only need 20w per sq/ft which is perfect for people who have extra space...
Don't get me wrong I prefer quality over quantity but since my country never stop increasing electricity prices (even if we are or were #1 on this thanks to nuclear power plants but since we "punished" Russia 🙄 we are in deep trouble economically)I'm looking for the cheapest and most efficient way to go...solar panels are on the list especially since China made millions and they only cost 100€ when it was 350€...
Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers family

@@loganleborgne420on average I get 430 grams off of one 315 CMH 3200k. I have a room with nine CMH and a room with six LED. The LEDs that I'm using are the think grow model h. I have run the LEDs twice since I've owned them. What I see on the LEDs is a cooler running light, tighter inner nodal spacing but the plants do not stretch as much. The LEDs create a lot more humidity and the light doesn't look as natural as the CMH. I think the humidity could lead to problems with bugs and mold. CMH has been proven to be beneficial to beat mold and bugs. The humidity is a lot less with the CMH. I did get about 15% more productivity with the LEDs denser but not as frosty. I wash my stuff and turn it into fresh frozen. In that situation both rooms came out equally. The CMH creates a better flower and a higher resin content. The LEDs create a denser commercial looking bud. In my opinion, CMH gets the win and you can get them for a lot cheaper. People will try to sell you and tell you you will save power but at the end of the day running two 315s is the same as one led 630w they are the exact same amps. And as far as them running cooler they do. But it's also a double edged sword for me. I live in Colorado so I get extreme summers and extreme winters. Honestly both are great lights. I would choose what you can get cheaper. Out here I can set up three rooms of CMH versus one room of LED. Happy growing! Cheers!

@@loganleborgne420 I don't know if you got my post the first time but I'm going to say it again because I don't see it 😂. On average I get 430 g of one 315 CMH 3200k. I also purchased some LEDs. They are the think grow model h 630w. This is what I have seen with the LEDs they have tighter inner nodal spacing. The plants don't stretch as much. A lot higher humidity and the light doesn't look as natural as a CMH. The LED does run cooler. I believe the higher humidity could lead to problems such as mold and bugs. The CMH looks like the sun compared to any other light. The CMH does help with killing bugs and mold. Has less humidity and the lights runs warmer. I did get about 15% higher productivity with the LEDs. The LEDs had tighter buds but not as frosty. The CMH creates a more fluffy and frostier flower with higher resin content. I wash my flower to turn it into rosin. The CMH created the same amount as the LED with less flowers. I live in Colorado so I get both extreme winters and summers lol. So I use AC in the summer and heat in the winter. As far as power consumption they are equal. 2 315s CMH is the same amount of amps as one 630w LED. The other thing I do like about the LEDs is how even the light source is. The CMH is a lot cheaper compared to LEDs out here. I could probably build three rooms of CMH vs one room of LED. At the end of the day I don't think you can go wrong with either one. My productivity in both rooms went up and power went down compared to the double ended HPS's or single ended! When I switched to CMH or LED is when I started to actually hit that 1.5-2.0g per watt 😉. Happy growing! Cheers!

See the question you should be asking is , how inefficient is growing 7 times less for the same upfront cost? But you think its funny to get ripped off that bad just to get the next best thing "They tell you, you need" lol
Thats why they only ever talk about efficiency, not gram per dollar invested. Which is imo the only metric with any validity in this argument. • @barryhallsack8852

Cmh do much better on pest control compared to LED! The LEDs are nice but there's a lot of hype behind them. I also have LED. I've only ran them twice with good results. I have to think grow model h. The LEDs run cooler create more humidity, which could lead to pest and mold problems. The led light doesn't look as natural as CMH. I did get 15% more productivity of the LED but the quality looks a lot more commercial. CMH creates a higher resin content in the flower which creates more rosin for pressing 😂. I definitely can see why growers have switched to LED but I also see how shitty product has gotten over the years. I do have eight years experience with CMH and 6 months experience with LED. I've been growing cannabis for 25 years! The LEDs are just now starting to get good. An LED did not even compared to a CMH 8 years ago 😂. And spending $2,000 and up on lights is ridiculous, especially where the price point has became with cannabis 😂. I use the same strain, same soil recipe and I get about 4.5% on fresh frozen off the LED and 6% off the CMH. That 1.5% is huge when you are washing your plants to turn it into rosin! Not to mention CMH creates a nicer smell and higher terpenes.

So what I'm getting is as long as we reach to required PPFD levels, we can grow with any white LEDs regardless if they're 5000K or 2700K, am I correct? Does that mean there's nothing inherently special about grow lights compared to for example cheaper LED shop lights (except the efficiency difference of the LED chip used on the unit)? Considering a 100w LED grow light is $100, and 100w LED shop light can be found around $20-30, that would be an affordable way to provide supplemental light.

They try to mimic the best wavelengths for growth mostly in the blue and red, the sun changes. The trend uses a mix of two different white-temperature Samsung bulbs and Bridgelux, then adding a bit of deep red. The entire industry is trying to make bulbs and combinations of them closer to the photosynthetic spectrum. They use different mixes of whites between some brands, but they are all chasing the same path because of PPFD, which is what matters to plants. IMO The old cree cobs were really close to what the sunlight looks to my eyes, but the sunlight varies in temperature as the say goes on. Blue scatterers more, this leaves less blue as the sun tracks further from noonish.

Why did you just show an HPS 150? That's the second least common size. Also when it comes to cost to run a diode. It's not a huge factor. Diodes burning out on a panel before others is more of a selling point.

0:55 what exactly did plants "evolve" from Shane? Don't you mean ADAPT? I mean, life on this planet has to adapt. To evolve is an inaccurate description of natural adaptation. Does science evolve or adapt? Think it thru. Your soul depends on it!

Actually, plants were the life that put oxygen into the atmosphere, literally CREATING the atmosphere we have today. Plants definitely DID evolve, most likely why there is chlorophyll A and B... there have been some times when solar spectrum on the Earth's surface haws been VERY different. Between periods of volcanism and other climatic (cosmic) disasters the Earth has faced, many plants did "adapt", but many more went extinct. Some mutated and evolved and thrived over ones that we don't have any more.

The narrative on led's over the last ten years has changed so many times, and the goal posts have been moved so many times. Led manufacturers will say anything to make their tech look the better option.
•"They're More efficient" - while using reds and far reds to fudge the numbers.
•"They use less power" which then has to be used for heaters instead, to keep the environment optimal,..
"1:1 hps replacement" -not even close, and you have to completely alter your grow style and feeding..
•"You can add UV" - yeah at more cost, whereas in other tech like CMH it's already present...
Where are the CMH figures in all of this? You know, CMH, the closest spectrum to the Sun 🌞?? I guess it'd be kinda inconvenient to include CMH data if you're trying to sell led fixtures, lol.

Get a new LED and I bet you will change your mind.
They are now superior to HPS/CMH.
      No BS

@@wellmet7407LMAO no chance would I swap 😅 I've been using d/e CMH since 2018 and my yield and quality is superior to *any* of my friends who are using led's. Even new fixtures. I'm the benchmark that they're trying to replicate, but can't 😅📈
And they've been claiming to be superior to hps and CMH from the start, so no, I definitely wouldn't be swapping, just to fund more RnD for led manufacturers so that they can release yet another new fixture in six months making any fixture I just bought obsolete, lol 😅😂
The fixture that cost 1000 bucks this time last year, that was being hailed as "the future", is now considered obsolete and old tech, think about that 😑..
If the tech fully evolves to really do what it claims, then I'll consider.

You are missing alot here. The narrative isnt changing. Both HPS and CMH became outdated when decent leds came around. Like when Cree CXB3590 became available for instance. How many years ago is that, 10?
No one is using red and far red to fudge efficiency numbers. Its used because they are efficient yes, but mainly beceause 70-80cri leds lack some red light, so its beneficial to supplement with more red. Thats not fudging numbers, thats taking advantage of the technology.
But even with cheap white only leds, it will completely blow hps/cmh out of the water in efficiency.
Lol, leds produce heat too, just less. No need for lots of extra heating. Are you growing outside in a tent during winter?
Why would you completely alter your growstyle and feeding? If you supply the same amount of light and keep the leaf temperature the same, nothing changes. Except the power bill beeing cut in half.
The only advantage CMH has is the avaliable UV, which may or may not have be positive on terpenes, but that is also much better controlled with dedicated UV light.

      @redeyegooner 6 місяців тому +1

@@ThePentosin firstly, how can CMH be obsolete when it produces a better product with better yield 😆🤡
Secondly, I think I'll take the word of personal friends who have first hand experience of changing 20 light hps rooms over to led, and the changes and adjustments they've had to make both in terms of regulating the environment, AND changes to the nutrients/feeding that the plants needed. Coupled with the drop in quality and yield compared to when the same rooms and same cultivars were run on hps.
What's your first hand experience? How many fixtures/rooms have you changed? Or are you just going on what led salesmen tell you??
