It is now my favourite version of this song. Cormac's voice is so pure and his words so clear you can see him in the ruins after the revolution morning his friends. Amazing
I've heard many boy sopranos sing and this young man is the tops. What a pleasure to listen to, no affectation, just a clear pleasant voice reaching all the notes he needs to. Beautiful.
As someone who performs this song (an octave lower), I know that high G is a tough note to hit. This youngster hit it with no visible effort. An incredible talent, and obviously exceptionally well trained.
Cormac has a voice that rings like a little bell. He has created the atmosphere beautifully and seems to have an understanding much older than his years. A great voice that can only get better.
I almost didn't click on this, suggested after the new single which Janis Ian recommended on her Fb page today. I've heard talented children sing totally unsuitable songs expressing adult emotions in the past, and couldn't imagine a 12(?) year old doing this justice. I'm so glad I listened; this is just incredible, so moving and deeply felt.
Apart from his gorgeous, voice, face and musicality, he is wonderful to listen to because of the wonderfully clear pronouncement of his words. Just lovely.
Cormac, you always look so relaxed when you are singing, but your voice is so pure and gentle but powerful at the same time, something so very special, Thank you.
WOW ! One of Cormac's best. He has such a powerful, well trained/practiced voice. One of the finest Treble soprano choristers ever. He has such a wide dynamic range and heartfelt delivery it is just amazing. Kudos to Dominic Ferris for his outstanding piano work as always. Whether it be the French revolution (a la 'Les Miserables') , Covid-19 or war, anytime a child is "lost" it is always a sad, heart wrenching event when innocents lose their lives.
I'm sat here in tears for so many reasons... not the least of which the beautiful vocal performance. The clarity in those high notes after 01:15 is just otherworldly. "Les Miz" is one of my all-time fave musicals and I've heard this song too many times to count, but I don't know if I've ever heard it sung from the perspective of someone so young, and the complete understanding of the lyrics and the emotions was just too much to bear. I'm so moved by this.
What a heavenly voice. And a sad, poignant song. Makes me think of all those lost due to COVID and all those lost and uprooted in the Ukraine. God have mercy on all their souls.
I had goosebumps, tears and disbelief over this child's voice. He is truly heavenly and deserves immediate recognition so he can be marketed to a wider audience. Good luck 4 the future young man.
It's rather difficult to write a comment when you're crying. This is my all-time favorite musical and this song particularly. Your voice is .....well, it sounds like you were born for this song. With all the strife going on in the world now, it's so important to remember that there are people who notice and care when we're gone and leave an empty chair. You sing it like it matters. I hope you are able to live through this compassion for many years, because we all are so hungry for it. You are a gift. Thank you for sharing it. Aloha, Bobbie
Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment 🙏🏻 I’m glad that I managed to sing your favourite song in a way that you enjoyed. There’s a judges comment on my video from chorister of the year about the responsibility a singer has when they sing a song and this is what he meant 🎶🙌 thank you 😊
Your comments are so beautiful. They made me cry as well as the song. This world....This world, well...it breaks your heart. Your comments as well as others makes me know I'm not alone in my enormous sadness.
I have listened to this song many, many times now, and each time the words pierce my heart. Each time I hear that pure, innocent voice it speaks to my soul. The child people speak of here is a young man now but this will be his legacy. A song whose shattering words, delivered in such angelic tones, should forever remind us of the cruelty and inhumanity of war 😢
My grandsons often sang that song for many years until we began to feel the meaning of the lyrics in our every day life. The anticipated release of other concoctions and conditions may bring more heartbreaking scenes as these images repeat. So I stand with you in opposition to more of the same mistreatment revisited in hospitals, schools, retail and most workplaces. No forced shots or shot passports. No more Davos with it's worldwide starvation, and ugly threats to take our livelihoods and educations. Thank you for using your beautiful voice to share the cry of my heart.
When your grandson of 3 listening to your wonderful music Cormac; sits down very quiet and applauds with all heart: You're doing it right. Thank you to you
Cormac’s voice is changing now that he is a teenager. It’s much lower but still beautiful. Danny Boy was one of my favorites on his earlier recordings too.
Such a range, colour and acting. He is probably one of the best boy Soprano I have to date heard and I am 76. Hope his voice transitions into an adult Tenor. So many boys voices don’t make the grade as they pass through puberty.
This young man has done the song incredible justice!💙🎶💙 We’re going to see a local production of Les Misérables in two weeks! Will remember this version for a while too, as I love Michael Ball’s one as well!! ❤🎶💙
I usually find versions of songs with the lyrics as I have a hearing problem. But Cormac has the most wonderful diction. I don't need written words, he sings them so easily, beautifully and with such feeling. The more recent Cormac songs are equally beautiful. Thank you Cormac 🤗
Bravo young man!. I recall one other rather young child whose singing that was also, quite moving. He's the younger grandson of A. Factor, and he sang Danny Boy at a church in Wales. You could barely see his head as he stood at the podium, but it was so moving. I got choked up watching the vid. His name escapes me, his older brother is Oscar. He was a sweet kid. Oh! It just hit me, it was Woody. Wow! He must be about 18 - 20 now. Well, I wish them all well. 🙏💫💥
The combination of the young chorister, Cormac Thompson ´s pure, clear soprano tones, and the intensity, of this musical interpretation by the pianist coupled with fascinatingly interesting melody, is all , overwhelmingly beautiful ! The whole performance is haunting and irresistible; and even a little spine chilling! The melody is very strong and nostalgic in its expression. The minor mode, modulating here and there with twists and turns into other modes, and then back again, adds a freshness and interest . The lyrics are descriptive and full of pathos. We long to embrace these heroic souls, who are gone , apparently swept away from this earth, abruptly, and with them, their noble goals and salutary visions have been snatched away from us all resulting in the sharp pain of loss and grief. The performance transcends its content. It is truly very beautiful and uplifting !

Here they sang about tomorrow
And tomorrow never came

And they rose with voices ringing
And I can hear them now!
The very words that they had sung
Became their last communion
On this lonely barricade
At dawn
Oh my friends, my friends forgive me

Such sadness in Cormacs' song, for one so few of years!
I am speechless....such a clear, gorgeous voice.....and a perfect performance. Well done!
Un nouveau petit ange sur terre. 😇😇🙌🙌🌹🥀🌼🌸❤️❤️
😮 What a voice! May he have future success in music!
So small with such an angelic voice. The child is blessed and blesses all of us who hear him.
All these wonderful boy sopranos are short term gifts from God. 🙏
This young man has a beautiful voice, it goes straight to your soul! Such a beautiful gift! ❤
Apart from his gorgeous, voice, face and musicality, he is wonderful to listen to because of the wonderfully clear pronouncement of his words. Just lovely.
Beyond perfect! Amazing!
What a stunning voice with words that sum up the world of today. From many different voices from all over the world
No one has sung, or ever will sing, this song as well as you have. This was absolutely perfect!
This child is an incredible gift to the world 🌎
That’s a lovely thing to say 🌞 thank you 🙏🏻
Cormac, you always look so relaxed when you are singing, but your voice is so pure and gentle but powerful at the same time, something so very special, Thank you.
Loveliest, most touching version of “Empty Chairs” I’ve ever heard!
The wonderful young man has a voice that is normally reserved for the angels in heaven. He gave me the most beautiful chills.just magnificent🙏
Wow, thank you
I'm sat here in tears for so many reasons... not the least of which the beautiful vocal performance.
Awesome vocals ! Rey good job!
This young boy just sent me to tears 😢
NOW I have goose bumps! regarding- "Cormac Thompson loves your comment"!... I feel like I did in the 60s when the Beatles were on the TV! Even better!
That made us smile 🤗🤗🤗
What a heavenly voice. And a sad, poignant song. Makes me think of all those lost due to COVID and all those lost and uprooted in the Ukraine. God have mercy on all their souls.
I had goosebumps, tears and disbelief over this child's voice. He is truly heavenly and deserves immediate recognition so he can be marketed to a wider audience. Good luck 4 the future young man.
Your song is still very good one of the best.from.Les Miz....
Keep up houf good work..
Aloha,
Bobbie
Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment 🙏🏻 I’m glad that I managed to sing your favourite song in a way that you enjoyed. There’s a judges comment on my video from chorister of the year about the responsibility a singer has when they sing a song and this is what he meant 🎶🙌 thank you 😊
Your comments are so beautiful. They made me cry as well as the song. This world....This world, well...it breaks your heart. Your comments as well as others makes me know I'm not alone in my enormous sadness.
So true❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
I'm just hearing this, and yes, tears are flowing. Thk you for expressing my feelings so well!❤ Best wishes (a year later!)😊
How beautifully he sang and importantly made the message loud and clear. It was truly, the most magical of all the recordings of the song. Well done.
Absolutely beautiful voice, Cormac. It was a joy listening to you.
With wars burning in so many countries this haunting rendition becomes so much more painful to hear. This is truly the person to sing it.❤
A song, a voice, the quality of singing and the beautiful piano accompaniment creating something absolutely perfect. ❤
As someone who is blind your voice give me a vision on an angel.
That means a great deal to me thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks Buddy all the way from New Zealand. Keep it up my angel
How someone so young can sing so beautifully and get behind the understanding of this profound lyrics awesome!
This young man’s voice is spectacular
He was phenomenal…so was the piano player!
All I can say is wow. What a voice.
What a beautiful sound. What a precious little boy. God bless him.
When your grandson of 3 listening to your wonderful music Cormac; sits down very quiet and applauds with all heart: You're doing it right. Thank you to you
Thank you for sharing this with me I really love this and reading comments like this make all the hard work very worthwhile 🙏🏻🎶🙌
Cormac’s voice is changing now that he is a teenager. It’s much lower but still beautiful. Danny Boy was one of my favorites on his earlier recordings too.
He must be an angel here on earth. What an angelic voice!❤
Angel? Angel sings? … never God speak this.. Angels living in .. read the Bibel please.
@@ilseilse3824 don’t put limitations on God. I’ve read the entire bible thank you. King James Version.
I hope you had a great night out watching Les Mis 🤗
I usually find versions of songs with the lyrics as I have a hearing problem.
But Cormac has the most wonderful diction. I don't need written words, he sings them so easily, beautifully and with such feeling.
The more recent Cormac songs are equally beautiful. Thank you Cormac 🤗
Thank you for watching this video and taking the time to watch more videos that I have done too 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amazing young boy! What a voice absolutely beautiful. Voice of a angel. 🍀🍀🍀🇮🇪
A beautifully clear child's voice singing a really lovely song. One hopes his voice will survive into adulthood.
Incredibly haunting! Outstanding renditions by a heavenly voice and a brilliant pianist.
Absolutely haunting. Gave me chills. Beautiful job, young man.
This song makes me cry! Such delicate and pure voices ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is god voice 😮😮 wonderful !!!
