I think it is of note that in the past the giraffe faction had a lot more players experimenting with different builds, including moose-like builds and the camelid faction did venture even more into height based builds. But alas, the days of the Neogene and Pleistocene expansions are gone and many factions are stuck with only a few of the different builds they once explored.
I just randomly discovered this channel and immediately subbed, editing, relevancy and story telling is AAA tier
You forgot about one disadvantage that the giraffe has. It’s long legs and neck make it difficult for water consumption, so a giraffe has to spread it’s legs apart in order to get water from water sources.
Which is why I was surprised that they didn't list crocodiles, the only predatorbuild that has a decent shot at taking out a giraffe player. Especially if it's dry season and the muddy-water stealth-buff has been activated.
You'd think Giraffes would be more at home in rainforests rather than flat savannahs. Lots of tall trees to eat from, no lion prides to worry about, and they can more easily find waterfalls to drink from.

I never would've thought that the giraffe was such a social or even political build. The fact they work in groups is one thing, but other players have to reapect them as well. Their ability to alert others of incoming threats is vital in a server like Africa. And even then, they pose little to no threat to any allies of other species since they grab higher resources. Interesting build!

Just found your channel, very fun to watch and extremely educational! Great job!
Giraffes are basically how the sauropod mains snuck their way back into the meta. They may not be as overpowered but they are still good enough against countless predators.
Just sad the meta evolved to be so much reliant on speed, it's impossible to just tank for your party anymore. I thought the devs had the things right on track with the Indricoterians but then the poles glaciation patch hit. This really makes me realize how the human's throwing ability and endurance hunting really was the ultimate counter to so many builds, it's crazy. You could throw something that makes the target bleed, then just jog after them.
Endurance hunting is a ridiculous strategy but the best humans could do in a habitat they're not meant to be in.
Ability to grab things, ability to sweat and ability to co-operate has made the human faction too dominant.
Please nerf devs
I dont believe hunter gatherers had that much success endurance hunting and making a spear takes a bit of time and energy and long distance running consumes quite a bit of calories. Giraffes might have the ultimate advantage in most cases when it comes to fighting, but they are extremely disadvantaged when it comes to living in general. @@tunnelsnake420 TRUE!
The number one predator of wild giraffes is crocodiles while they are drinking. Fortunately, giraffes rarely need to drink.
I think people really don't think about how weird giraffes are. They're incredibly tall, have long tongues, seemingly useless short horns, and covered with conspicuous spots. What's more, for the most part, they are comfortable being around and/or tolerating a human being's presence, as if they are self-aware of the fact that they are more than capable enough to kill you.
Also the sounds they make
They are truly worthy of being my daughter's favorite animal. Though i think she was overly influenced by the fact her mom fed a giraffe whilst pregnant. Just some carrots. They love carrots!

Fun fact: giraffes have the same number of vertebrae as any other vertebrate. Their cervical vertebrae are just way larger
Fax
Holy shit, those must be some big ass bones!? I wonder if they get hunted because of bone marrow or something.
I didn't know all vertebrae had the same amount
@@jampacc All Mammals have the same basic template and we cannot grow "new" structures from this template, so for example, in order for a human to be able to fly, it would be impossible for a human to say grow wings, but perhaps overtime it would be possible for humans to develop structures similar to a bat and bone structure similar to a bat and that would allow humans to fly, but something can't come from nothing; all mammals are essentially reorganized versions of each other.
@@jampacc Well of course there are different amounts of cervical (7), thoracic (12), lumbar vertebrae (5) and a sacral leg (5 synostosed into one bone) and a coccyx (animals with tails have more coccygeal vertebrae, some humans have 5 and some have only 3; animals with long tails like dogs have more than 20)
Some animals have lumbar vertebrae as thoracic vertebra and sacral vertebrae as lumbar vertebrae, so they have a few more or less of those, but cervical vertebrae are always 7 no matter how long or short the neck is. There are also holes between the vertebrae, where nerves get out from the spinal chord. These are called intervertebral foramen and every IVF-nerve innervates a specific skin areal (somatosensitive), called dermatopes and innervates a specific muscle (somatomotoric) there is also the parasympathetic (viscerosensoric and -motoric; only in the cranial brain: brain nerves (III, VII, IX and X) and the sacral IVF-nerves. The sympathetic nerves only comes from the thoracic and lumbar IVFs.
Also many nerves have different qualities and different IVF-bases and come/project from/to different brain cores. Neuro anatomy is incredibly complex and I have still so much to learn 🙇🏻♂️

Great idea for the channel, and execution too!
The giraffe is the probably the best example of a glass cannon mammal. You're extremely strong, but pretty much screwed if somebody trips you especially if you're getting tag teamed or another giraffe knocks you unconscious, thus exposed
Eh they're pretty tanky too, just look at all the clips in this video of giraffes walking while multiple lions hang on with their teeth. As long as they can avoid getting knocked over, they can survive a lot of damage
They'd be pretty busted in the NBA
@@cycle3773 I can just imagine a giraffe just being like: "Nope, not your ball" and just leans down to reach the goal.
Only true if you can take out a leg at least semi-permanently. Break a giraffe's leg its done for. That is easier said than done though... It's also where the "Hyena Exception" came in. On this episode the only contenders that could realistically do that are Hyena, Elephant, and Rhino... maybe a large Wildebeast. I see you're trying to optimize
It’s also great seeing great production value being put in these videos now!
Would love to see a video on the theories of why there are only giraffes have the long neck now
I assume a large part of it is the difficulty with supplying oxygen to the head. Until you reach the size where it grants you massive benefits, making the neck longer is counter productive.
@@nyon7209 Similar arguments are true about a Lot of traits, and lack of good explaination for it is one of the major flaws with evolution as the origin of species (well, complex multicellular life with distinct organs, at any rate), at least as it's usually explained.

Which isn't to say we have a better explaination that actually, you know, Explains anything. 'God did it' without further explaination is pretty much identical to 'we have no idea' in practice, after all (regardless of one's beliefs regarding the truth or lack there of of such a claim), and the 'further explaination', when present, is usually at least as defective as any explaination of Evolution that I've ever encountered, often more so.
I'd guess it's because trunks serve the same purpose, but are much easier for mammals to support.
We don't have the more efficient birdlike breathing system that dinosaurs did, which allows them to have massive necks without running into that whole snorkel problem.
