Love when new Tierzoo videos come out :3 Just a minor correction, pronghorns arent in the giraffe family, they're the only living members of antilocapridae. The closest relatives to this family is indeed the giraffidae so you are correct they're more closely related to giraffes than antelopes and other ruminants, but antilocaprids are not actually within the giraffe family itself Giraffa is also a genus, Okapia is the genus for okapi and both are in giraffidae.
You should know that both families Antilocapridae and Giraffidae belong to the superfamily Giraffoidea, also, ruminants are actually an informal group because bovids, deer, giraffes, okapis, and pronghorns are all more closely related to camels than they are to chevrotains, water deer, and musk deer.
@@indyreno2933Antilocapridae is currently not included in Giraffoidea. Both Giraffoids and pronghorns are included in the infraorder Pecora, with pronghorns not being assigned to any superfamilty. Ruminants are not an informal group either, the taxonomy of Tragulina is still debated but if they aren't ruminants they can simply be excluded from the taxon to keep it's validity.
@@indyreno2933 jesus fcking christ dude I can read wikipedia too, I didn't ask for a copy-paste novel about something I didn't even talk about... please keep it brief if you intend to respond any further. I’d really like to see a video on the ratites. Despite facing similar problems wherever they live, like the struggle of nesting on the ground, they all face different challenges depending on their specific environment. In particular cassowaries and emus are often praised as ranking above the rest of their family. I think an appropriate title would be something like “Are all ratites low tier?” as I think it’s unfair to lump them all into F tier.
I think the ratites get a bad wrap bc of their extreme vulnerability to neck strikes. Also their struggle with lateral movement is a huge barrier . Any medium sized predator build worth its salt could easily take down a ratite despite the risk of a kick.
Bc of this video I was the only kid in my class who knew anything about pronghorns and impressed my science teacher. (We were talking about anachronistic animals and plants)
@@lynxfresh5214 Yup. That combined with the indomitable human spirit is what makes us the most versatile yet dangerous animal in the known universe. We're literal world-killers.
@GreenPoint_one Funny enough, some people think of humans as so advanced and beyond the capabilities of the rest of the animal kingdom, that there must be a creator who is like us and designed us. Humans think we're so perfect that we couldn't be the same as our animal cousins. Talk about narcissists, right?
I’ve loved the pronghorn ever since I saw a wild kratts episode talking about the pronghorns skeletal structure in their legs, where their hooves are basically their toes. Some bones are fused, so their foot bone is like in the calf area. It’s like running on stilts. In addition, they have a one way lungs like birds do to continuously inhale oxygen.
I’d really like more videos on the bioma of the meta. That Surviving the Arctic was really cool and it’s be cool to see more of that for desserts, woods, rain forests, underground, arboreal etc…
These are truly amazing animals. I was driving on a little two-track trail out in the desert one time when a pronghorn buck started trotting alongside, about fifty yards off to my left. I pushed the gas. So did he. Pretty soon we were doing about 35, and he was staying even with me out there in the sagebrush, not even working hard. I dropped the gas again. So did he. Now we're doing 45, I'm bouncing all over on the rough barely-road, and I get the feeling he's just getting started. All of a sudden he got tired of the game and took off. He was just GONE. He must have been doing about 60. Just left me in the dust. What a cool guy. Then there are the times I see them when I'm out trail-running. They always stare at me with a facial expression that says, "Aw, how cute." 😆
@@medvemapping7263 Sometimes they'll put on a burst of speed and then cut across in front of a truck. You can almost hear them blowing raspberries at you. It's true about their vision, too. The first time I saw a Golden Eagle with my own eyes, I wasn’t even sure what I was looking at. It was on a hillside (in Wyoming) and it looked to me like a huge German shepherd at first glance, so I did what any rational human would do, and I threw a rock in its direction to see if it would move, my rock fell short, and this mighty bird took flight. Tierzoo, any thoughts on the recent buffs to the "Eco-Awareness" branch to the human skill tree? It's an interesting attempt for the devs to keep humans balanced but also fun to play.
Too little too late, imo. The effects are going to hit too hard before it levels out. Human players are gonna take a BIG hit, but it's not enough for a complete elimination, especially with how much adaptation humans are capable of.

There are a couple pieces of misinformation in this summary, one proghorn are useless with their horns, this is one of the few wild large animals that is fairly safe to manhandle, once captured they put up minimal to no fight, even large bucks can be controlled by a single person. Second while fences are an issue its not because they can't jump vertically it's because they don't, they can clear 9 feet, I once witnessed a proghorn make it over a 12 foot barrier, unfortunately it caught its limbs on the top and ended up breaking a leg on the landing, which is a death sentence to an animal that relies so much on speed and manueverability.
One note is that they don’t appear to be in the Giraffidae family as suggested in the video, but rather the Antilocapridae family. Excellent video as always otherwise.
I have a suggestion for a future video. I think you should do a video on tails and the things that various builds use them for both good and bad. That way new players who want to incorporate a tail into their build will know what to do and what to avoid.
Pronghorns will always have a special place in my heart for being the preferred food of one of my parents' cats. Hobbes, one of the sickest cat mains I've ever known, will be forever memorialized with that initial meeting.
pronghorn are literally everywhere in my area. one guy killed 11 on the way to work this winter with his mustang as they were huddled on the highway. and yes, they do absolutely run 60 mph and its impressive to watch. they are also very fun to bowhunt, it is not that hard to get close if you have some ridge lines and thermals on your side. the mountain lions still eat quite a few of them based on the carcasses ive found.

Yeah, convergent evolution is crazy sometimes. The deer-like build is good for medium-sized herbivores to the point it's kind of hard sometimes to distinguish deer, antelope, promghorn, and ibexes entirely from each other.
I tried this build a few patches ago and had no idea how to play it. I was ambushed near a lake at level 17, and when I vod reviewed it I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. @@justinhhp87 Ah, but which ones have the most effective play styles overall? I mean sure, the saltwater croc would no doubt make S-Tier (no pun intended), but still. That I would like to see him analyze and explain.
It's still a problem in this part of the country - I live in eastern Colorado and I've seen plenty of pronghorns squeezing their way through barbed fences - but enough gaps were opened up that they can at least follow their main migration patterns without having to do that.
I would love to hear you talk about one of the premiere survivalist builds that have been wildly successful on almost every server they find themselves in - foxes. Though they are smaller and more lightweight than similar builds like wolves or coyotes, their unique set of skills and meta-breaking tactics have allowed them to flourish in all servers.
my major problem with the pronghorn is that the controls are hard to use and only very skilled players are able to use it efficiently. once me and my freind were escaping a wolf, there was a fence and he was using a deer but i was using pronghorn so the wolf caught me because my freaking horn got caught. i bet very skilled players are able to get over and under fences very easily, but its just too hard for players like me who joined in late 2021
Pronghorns are so fast because they used to deal with a feline style predator similar to cheetahs, they lived longer than they're predator and there's nothing in the environment that's actually faster than them
As a moderator, I’m sorry for our team nerfing cheetahs. We genuinely thought the fastest land animal would be way too OP but we’ve nerfed it to the point of F Tier, we’re currently working on the issue.
Just a correction, "Giraffa" as a genus includes only the giraffe, Giraffidae (which is what I think you meant by Giraffa) includes both the giraffe and okapi, however the pronghorn is actually not a Giraffid, but rather a member of Antilocapridae, a closesly related grouping. Just a minor correction, pronghorns arent in the giraffe family, they're the only living members of antilocapridae. The closest relatives to this family is indeed the giraffidae so you are correct they're more closely related to giraffes than antelopes and other ruminants, but antilocaprids are not actually within the giraffe family itself
Giraffa is also a genus, Okapia is the genus for okapi and both are in giraffidae.
@matyaskassay4346, actually, ruminants are an informal group, they are informal because they are paraphyletic as tylopods are descended from ruminants, also, the pronghorn actually does belong to the superfamily Giraffoidea, making the giraffids the closest living relatives of the pronghorn, in fact, Antilocapridae is the youngest family in the Giraffoidea superfamily, Giraffoidea is actually the most basal extant superfamily of pecorans, in fact, there are officially 9 extant superfamilies of even-toed hoofed mammals: Traguloidea, Moschoidea, Giraffoidea, Cervoidea, Bovoidea, Cameloidea, Tayassuoidea, Suoidea, and Hippopotamoidea, Traguloidea contains one extant family: Tragulidae (Chevrotains), Moschoidea contains two extant families: Hydropotidae (Water Deer) and Moschidae (Musk Deer), Giraffoidea contains two extant families: Giraffidae (Giraffes and Okapi) and Antilocapridae (Pronghorn), Cervoidea contains one extant family: Cervidae (Deer), Bovoidea contains one extant family: Bovidae (Bovids), Cameloidea contains one extant family: Camelidae (Camels), Tayassuoidea contains one extant family: Tayassuidae (Peccaries), Suoidea contains one extant family: Suidae (Pigs), and Hippopotamoidea contains one extant family: Hippopotamidae (Hippos), this is the even-toed hoofed mammal taxonomy as officially recognized:

VERBAL CARNAGE!! VERBALITY!!

I love how you mix you humour with good information about the animals and their environments. Prime infotainment.

They always stare at me with a facial expression that says, "Aw, how cute."
😆
Hah, human main is trying to go fast. So cute when noobs try to git gud
They're just testing their speed skills, and flexig with that :)
@@medvemapping7263 Sometimes they'll put on a burst of speed and then cut across in front of a truck. You can almost hear them blowing raspberries at you.
It's true about their vision, too. Unless you are one sneaky son of a gun, and usually even then, they'll have you spotted from miles away. They might not run away, but they know you're there.
Man I'd love a detailed breakdown of the wolf. I know it's been featured on different vids. But a dedicated one is definitely due. It has such a fascinating playstyle, totally different from any other predator (especially the individuals who speced into huge pack trait)
You know what build is actually the most op. Domestic cats, they work in big colonies and they have a counter for everything except human intelligence (Even then roughly 1 in 3 humans have toxoplasmosis which makes human intelligence it’s own downfall here).

The Great White has got to be my favorite Animal Kart powerup. Though Angry Bee Swarm isn't that bad either.

Thanks Wild Krats for teaching me about the great pronghorn
The first time I saw a Golden Eagle with my own eyes, I wasn’t even sure what I was looking at. It was on a hillside (in Wyoming) and it looked to me like a huge German shepherd at first glance, so I did what any rational human would do, and I threw a rock in its direction to see if it would move, my rock fell short, and this mighty bird took flight. I swear this bird was large enough to carry me off.
Tierzoo can't live a day without brutally roasting Cheetahs, it's his motto at this point.
I just ended up feeling bad for American Cheetahs in the end, they got outplayed real hard 😔

Even if this doesn’t happen I’m still gonna watch these videos :)

Yes, sorry about that mistake. They are still the closest living relatives to giraffoids, but are not actually part of the giraffoid taxon

Yeah, convergent evolution is crazy sometimes.
The deer-like build is good for medium-sized herbivores to the point it's kind of hard sometimes to distinguish deer, antelope, promghorn, and ibexes entirely from each other.
The pronghorn is neither a bovid or a deer, the pronghorn is actually a giraffoid.

I’m really glad the human player base came together to ban the barbed wire meta in that server.
It's still a problem in this part of the country - I live in eastern Colorado and I've seen plenty of pronghorns squeezing their way through barbed fences - but enough gaps were opened up that they can at least follow their main migration patterns without having to do that.

No, they were doing badly before humans dominated.
I freaking love this channel, it combines my two favorite things of all time, zoology and gaming 😂
my major problem with the pronghorn is that the controls are hard to use and only very skilled players are able to use it efficiently. once me and my freind were escaping a wolf, there was a fence and he was using a deer but i was using pronghorn so the wolf caught me because my freaking horn got caught. i bet very skilled players are able to get over and under fences very easily, but its just too hard for players like me who joined in late 2021
2:59 Lmao
Pronghorns are so fast because they used to deal with a feline style predator similar to cheetahs, they lived longer than they're predator and there's nothing in the environment that's actually faster than them
As a moderator, I’m sorry for our team nerfing cheetahs. We genuinely thought the fastest land animal would be way too OP but we’ve nerfed it to the point of F Tier, we’re currently working on the issue.
Fix the game and its servers, it's so trash and heavily pay-to-win. Make better balance patches
