My fav band since '81. :-D I used to get so much flack for liking them, but now some of those same folks are respecting. :) I always knew they had it, and they still have it. I can't wait to see them again in concert. I'm proud of my wild boys. ~C-;
DINA Dina I had exactly the same problem. Coz I was a male duranie no one could understand me for liking them, it's there music that got me hooked, thou I sort of styled myself on Simon blonde streaks e.t.c just good fun .Now thou they've all changed there tune and realising what a great band they are . I last saw them live here in Manchester uk 2015 on the paper Gods tour and first saw them 1981
Although they are once again missing a Taylor, since the original band got back together in the early 2000's, they'd made some really terrific albums that had singles galore on them. But I think because they're seen as "older men" they don't make the charts. They still have an incredibly solid, rabid (albeit slightly smaller) fan base who buy their albums (and more importantly, pack the arenas - that's where the dollar's at) so until they all just say "let's pack it in" Duran Duran are here to stay. And I'm still here for it.
Simon says: ;) "We had ambition and we had a plan: ...world domination within five years. And what did we get? World domination within five years". :) ..Talk about setting goals and reaching them. (Y)
Yes, but they had one of the biggest downfalls. In 1986 Roger & Andy Taylor left, Andy still has a lot of hostility towards these guys. Also they were a lot like The Temptations in the sense that Three Members also had the same last name Williams (Paul, Otis, and Melvin Franklin born David Williams). Also they didn't have to fight to get their music on MTV like a lot of Black Artists did back in the day. Also they like The Original New Edition had "Outside" Projects that also did well for themselves. Hard to believe that this marks the 40th Anniversary of their starting out. So many British Groups saw their career go downhill in the US from George Michael, Spaudau Ballet, Tears For Fears, and Banarama.
@@laminage yes Roger left Duran Duran after the huge US tour in 1986 he was extremely exhausted it took alot out of him, glad Rogers back, Andy left because him and Nick wasnt getting long too well as Andy felt his views and talent was being ignored and Nick was always getting his own way across in the making of the next album so he left, came back a few years later and things where just pretty much the same and left Duran Duran again high and dry during ahuge tour in the US which is unforgivable. John also left for while he was commuting from Uk snd USA alot and speading himslf very thinly and hanging out with the wrong sorts of people and staying up late burning the candle at both ends as they call it really glad hes got himslf sorted and and rejoined the band and everyone thought Duran Duran where finnished but no! D D are doing very well over the past alot off years performing all over the world to sell out tours they should be very proud of themselves espically Simon holding the group together and what they have achieved it hasnt been easy.
I attest to that, Ever since High School all we heard was Duran Duran and Madonna. They made the 80’s. And still today Duran Duran continue to reinvent themselves. Can’t wait for the new CD. It will be Iconic for sure.
I became a fan after their “imperial phase”, so I had the advantage of not being distracted by their image or reputation as a style band (“Serious” was the first song that really got my attention). They were probably arrogant as hell in the 80s, but they come across now as so decent, thoughtful, funny and articulate. And Roger Taylor seems such a lovely bloke...
wasn't really a fan, however I never changed the station when duran duran tunes came on the radio, and I am even guilty of cranking the volume a tad as well, haha
Love this band. I hope to see them live at least once before I die. I was late in the game of fandom. 1993. "Ordinary World" was "my" theme song. Just so awesome.
+Budel42 All three made their mark and are music legends for those who know their music. DM still fills arenas while going on world tours so they're still doing well.
They are still era Duran Duran best band on planet earth 🌎🌍🌎🎉🎉🎉
They are still rocking it in 2024! ❤❤🎶🎤🇬🇧🎹🥁🎸
I've seen them 3 times in the last 2 years and they are still absolutely incredible. The soundtrack of my life!
Few years after this report and they’ve not only released a new album, but are touring and absolutely killing it!!!! Well done mates!
When Simon says at the end "I'm so proud of that!", I literally started crying. These are my boys and I love them so much.
He's such a goof sometimes! I ❤ it!
I know right you could tell he genuinely meant that he's very proud to see them on the cover of that billboard magazine ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Shame he can't sing
@@sdry1688yes he can, he's a brilliant singer
Same. ❤️
Video stupendi, paesaggi bellissimi, li amo sempre più! Simon ....❤!
My first concert march 15 1984..two days after my 15th birthday..I'm a 50 yo grandmother now..i still adore them..

Hannele Huida and the interviewer seemed to think Simon was joking about that having been planned lol

Yes Duran Duran did hugely they ahieved their goals and so much more...... love them also ahuge fan from the very my early eighties.

that same mindset also worked for Madonna.
Duran Duran and Madonna ruled the 80's
Don't forget about prince and Michael Jackson also ruled the 80's as well.

Amazing Duran Duran!!!
The stage is the ultimate platform shoe. DD : )
Duran abraços do BRASIL.
Think of all the bands, the names. The faces of the 1980’s
Duran Duran still sells out arenas.
How many other acts from the 80’s can say that?
U2, Bon Jovi , Def Leppard
Just a few bands names, that have survived since the 80's.
@@mishaalmagrabi6538 deffl leppard? must be in usa only. you can add depeche mode in too. and Duran Duran.
These are my generation, at the height of their fame I was in high school. Forever 80's !!!
It's a shame Andy Taylor can't come back to them and be the fab 5 again -Even for 1 album like he did last time with the Astronaut album back in 2005
He's the one that keeps on leaving the band so...
mikey p he doesnt deserve them

What!? 😊Are you serious?
My WILD BOYS forever and ever!!!
There videos were iconic
LOVE THEM!
Promotional films with the 16mm Arriflex SR.
I knew that was Long Island in the beginning!
And now they've made Future Past which is undoubtedly their best album ever. I honestly thought they wouldn't be able to top Paper Gods.

Ordinary World put them on another level
nothing will ever beat Late Bar , Khanada, and NMOM, but I am soooo glad the boys are still kicking ass and taking names!
ABSOLUTELY! and of course the always sexy and stimulating, The Chauffeur!
oh man...you are soooo wrong. some of the best tracks they ever did.

🎉❤❤loving you is easy because you are beautiful 😍 Simon
They should say something about Notorious and Big Thing because those albums were what got them back and ordinary world helped them too.
Pisses me off they are not in the RR HOF.
Still the best concert I've ever seen! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Il passato.. Il presente.. Il futuro
Me encanta
They still got it 😉❤️
DD una super banda!
AH! Well Simon and the boys will have to come here to Nova Scotia and go sailing on the Bluenose!
Cbs loves dd
I love it)))))))My time)
The mall version of Roxy Music.......... that's pretty good if you ask me.
Depeche Mode could very well be better, but they're not Duran Duran.

Cool.
Think,42,43 years from now ,will any of today's bunch have 4 decades behind them,in a career ,not literal age. Not!

I can't think of anyone whose opinion I'd care less about than a music "critic." Their opinions are so often meaningless and uninformed.
this album is bad as the" red carpet" was, great was "all you need is now " they had a better producer mark ronson
That's like your opinion man
Hahaha, you guy's are living on a Boat since Rio, what a Joke ! ;-)
