Yeah, the song is about racism, especially in the southern border and directed at Mexican immigrants who get treated like crap by Americans in places that literally used to be Mexico.
... wich was a stolen land by us goverment with Santa Ana as a accomplice
@@awesome416253 Santa Ana wasn't an accomplice, he was just, as we said in mexico, a pendejo president
Not only that, it's about how latinos get tagged as narcos, when all the cocaine is sold and sniffed in the united states
Lol get rekt
The term "frijolero" is a derogatory and racist term towards Mexicans because it alludes to the fact that eating beans belongs to poor people. It is the racist simile of saying to an African American "chicken eater". So when you say "don't tell me a bean," you are in fact asking for respect.
Peace....
My only recommendation is that it is always good to learn from other cultures. (Language, food, music, art in general) Don’t stay in the bubble of your own country. 👍🏻
Viva México cabrones
and that is something very common in the USA is that most do not try to know anything about what happens outside their country, sometimes not even outside their states.

We use "gringo" to talk about people from the US. We don't say "americans" or "America" to talk about US. Because América is a contintent, not only your country. But gringos don't know that haha.

Many ignorant people are telling immigrants, especially reffering to us [Mexicans] to “Go back to your country,” when states like Texas, Arizona, and California were actually once our country. They're an atisystem/controversial band. In this song, they are singing with an accent, making fun of Americans speaking spanish.
Here's my translation of this song...
Yo ya estoy hasta la madre
**I'm already fed up
De que me pongan sombrero
**Of, them, putting the hat on me (stereotype, of the sleeping Mexican with a hat)
Escucha entonces cuando digo
**Listen then when I say
No me llames frijolero
**Don't call me Beaner (a derogatory term for mexicans)
Y aunque exista algún respeto
**Even though there's some respect
Y no metamos las narices
**And we don't meddle
Nunca inflamos la moneda
**We, Mexico, never inflate currency/coin
Haciendo guerra a otros países
**Making war on other countries (referring to how the US uses war as a solution to other countries' problems)
Te pagamos con petróleo
**We, Mexico, pay you with oil (petroleum)
E intereses nuestra deuda
**And our debt is interests
Mientras tanto no sabemos
**Mean while we don't know
Quien se queda con la feria
**Who keeps the cash (It's when in the video they show Bush, Fox, the then president of Mexico, and I'm not sure who the other person is, suggesting they are the ones keeping the money)
Aunque nos hagan la fama
**Even though they, the US, makes us, Mexico, famous
De que somos vendedores
**That we are dealers
De la droga que sembramos
**Of the drugs we plant/grow
Ustedes son consumidores
** You are the consumers
Don't call me gringo
You fuckin' beaner

**Fucking jackoff gringo
Now I wish I had a dime
For every single time
I've gotten stared down
For being in the wrong side of town

**Being a Mexican crossing the border
Pensando en tu familia mientras que pasas
**Thinking of your family while you cross
Dejando todo lo que conoces atrás
**Leaving everything you know behind

**If you had to dodge the bullets
De unos cuantos gringos rancheros
**Of some rancher gringos
Les seguirás diciendo good for nothing wetbacks
** Would you keep calling them good for nothing wetbacks (another derogatory term for Mexicans)
Si tuvieras tú que empezar de cero?

It's cool how the only perfect Spanish is spoken by the American member of the band. He's a really cool guy
They are talkin like that because they’re making fun of americans that try to speak spanish
Green white Red is Mexico bro. Like Ireland is Green White Orange
So basically this song talks about how many americans are racist to mexicans and then he talks about how all racist americans are wrong in what they are doing. So he is dissing racist americans not americans in general. Much luv bro
Exactamente 👍
I am a native Spanish speaker and this song talks about how the us population consumes drugs from Latin America leaving these countries in ruins causing immigration from Mexico and stereotypes that cause racial profiling
It also points towards complicity between police, US government and Mexico’s government.
America is a continent, not a country
Hey, vato
I like your reactions. Started watching because you could admit being touched by the music.
A couple notes -
The green uniform is for border patrol.
This is specifically about immigration but generally about racism.
When he sings in Spanish from the american perspective he does it with a "white boy" accent.

The word "Gringo" is the only way to call those born in the United States. You should know that for the United States, there are two supposed continents: North America and South America. For Europe and Spanish-speaking countries, there is only one: America.
So the correct word for the United States is gringos because when you say Americans, you are actually talking about any country on the continent, be it Mexican, Brazilian, Colombian, Argentine, etc.
Well the Word gringo is from the mexican soldiers calling the USA soldiers
Who we're wearing green jackets
Si they we're saying GREEN GO!
and that is how the Word born and that Word is not for all USA people
Just the americans very idiots and racist Will be called like that
But some people calle every USA people gringo to don't Say american

don't call me beaner (frijolero)
And although there is some respect and we don't stick our nose
we never inflate the currency
Making war on other countries
We pay you with oil
And interest our debt
meanwhile we don't know
Who gets the profits
Even if they make us famous
as sellers of the drug we plant,
you are consumers.
Don't call me gringo

'Mas Vale Cholo' and 'Cerdo' are pretty cool Molotov tracks. Live they play heavy metal instruments, and kind of sound like Rage Against the Machine or Primus.

Cool band, I’ve seen them live. They’re from Mexico
It's nice to see you react to some Spanish and socially charged content. Also, not to shame you, but it'd be interesting for you to know the flag of one of the two countries your own country borders with
Gringo is for withe people, this song is sinze 2003. In 2003 George W. Bush was president of the USA and in a speech he referred to Mexican immigrants as "frijoleros", a very derogatory term, and well, this was Molotov's response to that speech 😅
Gringo is for Americans not only white people.
It’s about Mexicans crossing the border.
Great song.
You should whatch the FrankValchiria reaction, it is the one that will give you the context that you need on a non latin spanish point of view that would make the understening more approchable.
America is the continent bro.. they are Mexican, but Mexico is in America.. we are all American, from Argentina to North of Canada..
His dacing very happy XD
So that´s how we look like when we are listening to K-pop
Spain's flag is a horizontal tricolor, red-yellow-red with a coat of arms in the middle.
So green, white and red are the colors from Spain?

This is a brilliantly political song with deep messages hidden in slurs. We spanish speakers fucking love it.
Its like a dialogue between an "american" and an immigrant, in which both express their disdain for one another.
Did you show this to your dad? That would be interesting. Love me some Molotov!!! Gimme the power! 🤘🏼🇲🇽

There’s a video with the eng subs, highly recommend to watch it.
My guy shocked the first time he heard the chorus but vibing the second time xD
The term Gringo, date back from Malaga Spain in 1787 they use this term
to reffers foreign people with funny or impediment accent to speak fluently spanish
But also this term is use it as an insult accord to a argentine dictionary "Vocabulario dioplatense razonado of 1890" "Gringo" means: "Vulgar term for the foreigner whose speech differs completely from Spanish, such as English, German, French, Italian.
And in México there is popular myth that Gringo comes from "Green Go Home" this was shout from mexican army to US army back then in the US intervention in México during 1846 - 1848
But at the end it could be use in many forms, one of them as an isnult, it is because historically we live in a very tense geographically relationship, for obvious reasons vulgar adjectives are born derivated from this relation like "Frijolero" or "Gringo".
in Málaga for that we use Guiri and not Gringo.
Man, i love your reactions, just need subtitles.
hey brother, where did you buy that lamp? :D
There's the song with English subtitles
Gringo is a (depending on context) derogatory term in Mexico [edit: should have said 'in Spanish'] for white Americans. Frijolero literally means 'beaner' in Spanish. So yes, about American racism toward Mexicans and vice versa, and you are picking up on the imperialist American vibe. This is from the 90s (IIRC). Molotov's other stuff is more hip-hop than this one, with kind of a death-metal vibe that was popular in Mexico then. Check out some of their other stuff, a lot of it has more English than this one does.
Mexicans use gringo for everybody who was born in the US, not only white Americans, at least in Mexico, yeah it’s mainly used for them bc those are the “Americans” we see the most in tourist places.
And no, it’s not use as a derogatory term, sorry for break It to you, but it simply means someone from the us, the origin of the word it’s unknown, some people say that it came about because when the US invaded Mexico they were using green uniforms, but apparently comes from the word “Greek” in Spanish which is Griego.
So yeah gringo it’s definitely not a derogatory terms because it holds no disrespect nor hate towards us citizens, meanwhile “frijolero” is because it’s filled with hatred towards Mexicans, us citizens ( no one calls you guys Americans in the rest of the continent) invented bc we use beans in our dishes.
Sorry for the rant but it was necessary, we don’t use gringo as a slur, it’s common to say “me voy a conseguir una novia/o gringo en Cancún” because a lot of tourist come to drink and Mexicans think that “American” girls and guys are cute and want to meet them 🤷🏻♀️
@@Fer-eq4mn I have tried to explain the nuance to people, but it is hard to get it across to white Americans because 1) gringo has a different context and meaning when said by Mexican Americans which is where most white Americans encounter it 2) Anything is insulting if said with insulting intent, which to be fair is how gringo is used in the song 3) Almost every American English slang word for non-whites is offensively racist and used that way, and since most Americans only speak one language it is easy to assume the same of other languages 4) The song is mocking Americans who would casually say 'beaner' (which even in the 90s was not OK) but then get all bent out of shape about gringo (snowflakes) and is basically saying 'Well, if you're gonna be a racist jerk, then for you, I DO mean it that way!'
It's not surprising this was Molotov's biggest single in the US, it is about our favorite subject: ourselves.
Not just for *white* americans, americans in general.
@@Fer-eq4mn I think it is kinda like that because we use a lot of words that would be considered slurs (like negro or prieto, that may or may not be insults depending on the context, in Mexico). And if I'm not incorrect the word "gringo" does come from the time the US invaded Mexico (green-go), as a way to tell the invaders they weren't welcome here
It's not only for white US citizens, everyone born there is a gringo for us, at least in Mexico. Plus I wouldn't say the song is about 'americans racism towards Mexico and vice versa' cause the subjects of the song are pretty much just asking to not be called by a slur 'beaner', which is an insult picked from the victim's traditions/culture to try and shame them for something they can't change. While gringo or green-go comes from US invaders in their green uniforms and natives pretty much telling them to leave. The word gringo it's used a lot, and never in a mean or racist way, a reason for that could be that no one outside of the US calls US citizens 'americans', since we are too, other reason is that the right term would be 'son estadounidenses' or 'son de Estados Unidos' which are too long, so 'son gringos' just rolls of the tongue way easier but yeah, just that
You should've said don't call him a beamer, greengo
They’re not dissing USA, but the border patrol and the abuse and discrimination so many Mexicans suffer each day. The drummer wrote the song and he’s American.
afro americans and us mexicans share something very specific, dealing historically with racism from basically the same group of people, if not for language and uses we would be way closer. .
I will tell who they are Form left to right, George Bush (former US president, Vicente Fox (former MX President) and Dick Cheney (former US State Secretary) The main subject abouth this song is about racism, migration issues, but also speaks about drug deals between the two countries, and war. In particular as a mexican i don't think all of US citizens are racist, cause i know a lot of cool people from US. But also there are exceptions. Anyways is very interesting see a lot of you guys reacting to this song, is good to know that there are cultural exchanges between us and i respect that, i think it will be a great way to get understanding each other and get apart our differences.

2:53 “Bro, is this dissing America?” 😂
The context is that the band is composed by 3 Mexicans and an American, randy (the American and drummer of the band) was born in USA but he was raised in Mexico, and had a wife and a baby girl, so when they tried to fly to USA an agent only checked them for drugs just because they are Mexican, so Randy (the drummer) got so pissed that he made this song that talks about racism and xenophobia and their discrimination

talks about the delicate relationship between the United States and Mexico, focused on racism and derogatory treatment from the northern country (Mexicans are called "frijoleros").
