For future reference....leave the music off so that people can hear what you're saying! And it's annoying as hell 🤣!!! Sounds like dirt bike racing music! But overall...demonstration was great!
Thank for this video! Great detail and took time showing each step. I feel confident that this replacement won’t need my mechanic! BTW give the background music comments a rest. There was only one time while turning the cam where his voice was muffled…”deal with it and when your done dealing with it, get over it!”
I replaced mine today! Thank you for the video it was a real time saver and more importantly it saved me about $1,400!! Thats how much the mechanic shop wanted to charge me. Thanks again. I also changed the oil to get the gasoline out of the engine.
A couple of comments here, you dont have to do the crankshaft step, the pump will go back to the right posistion and if you happen to have the code related, ypu just delete the code on your scanner or it will go away with the proper drive cycle. Also, dont forget to buy the 2 parts altogether, the pump and the fuel line, try to do this with your tank almost empty. When you are about to take the fuel line, place the rug on top, like when you are trying to squeeze a lemon and dont want the juice spread all over. Also as a suggestion, while you have all that area clear, what I did was I remove the whole intake manifold and I was able to clean up the intake inside because mine had oil, also I cleaned up the throttle body, once I finished with that I replaced the pump. It took me and my wife like 4 or 5 hours, no prior experience whatoever, just youtube and the right tools. Good luck
@hecrypavo what happens if I turn the crankshaft (i was only able to turn it about 45 degrees) after replacement? should I turn it counterclockwise? is there any potential damage? after i replaced the pump I had several codes that I'm wondering are related. One was exhaust camshaft position sensor performance, another was Map low circuit sensor voltage, as well as fuel rail pressure sensor code. Are these related to the turning of the crankshaft turning? I can't find answers anywhere.
@@aikmanben I am not sure if they are related, you may move the sensors in any way? Check the connectors, unplug them, clen them with the correct cleaner and after that erase the codes with yoir scanner. Also, you may want to do your car DRIVE CYCLE, check it out and try to do it correctly, the codes may dissapear after the correct drive cycle, very impprtant.
EXCELLENT VIDEO. My mechanic wanted $600 to replace the HP pump. I did it myself, Thanks to Mr Fix It, for $150. Perfectly done video. The weird thing is that the auto part stores and Amazon said the part numbers were not for my 2013 Terrain. I took a chance and ordered the part numbers on the video and they are the correct ones. Doesn't matter if it's FLEX fuel engine or not
your video was really great. good instruction. Please, one piece of helpful criticism. Please turn down or off the music. It makes it really hard to hear what your saying, and is distracting.
this is the exact video I need to fix my vehicle can you reupload this without the music in the background I can't hear anything you're saying and the captions only get the music in your background
great job you explained it very good.. does the fuel line have to be replaced on that job if the old fuel line is still good can it be reused or is it mandatory to replace it with a new one?
Does the crankshaft need to be rotated back after replacing the pump? Immediately after replacing it I got three codes. The exhaust camshaft position sensor performance, low circuit voltage to the MAP, and fuel rail pressure sensor went off. Could this have something to do with the crankshaft being lowered? Because I didn't return it to it's original position. Also, sometime later my power steering failed and airbag sensor for passenger seat was off.
I just have one question I hope somebody answer me how is it that you guys giving information without it loud music playing in the background that make no sense
Thanks man you saved me so much money!! You can remove air filter box for easier access to turn the crankshaft but like others have said the turning crankshaft step isn’t needed but i still did it to be on the safe side 🫡

such a shame this loud and stressful music. I would have loved to watch in silence. I couldn't watch the video because I couldn't concentrate because of the music.
The manufacturer recommends it because it might push against the fuel pump when u r installing it. If its adjusted to the lowest position, u can easily install the pump flush without anything pushing back against you.
+1 on that answer. I when removing the pump there's no spring tension then you don't need to mess with camshaft because it's already at base circle or near it
Question. What is the torque specs for the bolts on the Fuel pump? I ended up torquing the bolts and broke them off into the cylinder head. Talk about a nightmare! I had to get my car towed to the shop and have the cylinder head rethreaded! And before this happened, they weren’t torqued enough and the fuel pump pressure pushed the pump forward and separated from the cylinder creating a fuel leak. Lord. Talk about problems.
Well. Come to find out. I thought they rethreaded them. They didn’t. They was able to get both bolts out. They drilled one of them out. I had to rethread them myself. And they charged me $200. But the best thing to do is buy the hellicoil kit. I used this kit and it worked pretty good. I was able to get new bolts in tight enough. It’s a lifesaver I’m telling you.

If it doesn't turn at all, then the fuel pump isn't the issue. Perhaps ignition related problems. Or maybe even fuses. If it turns but dont start, then it could be fuel pump...but also a lot of ofher issues. If u feel comfortable following the video, just loosen the high pressure fuel line at the bottom sode of the pump. Then crank the engine few seconds. If u see fuel squirting, the pump might be fine. If no fuel then pump might be questionable. But i would still check spark, and other things before getting into fuel pump
@@eden2010grace i did a compression test on it shortly after, timing chain busted and have no compressionz apparently its a common problem on these engines 😔, needs another engine then its getting traded back to the place we got it from, thanks for the reply.
How do you relieve (reduce) the fuel pressure before removing fuel lines? Is there a relay or fuse for the fuel pump in the tank? This high pressure pump is mechanical driven by engine - so no fuse.
Remove fuel pump relay if possible and start the engine until it dies a few times. If not possible to remove the relay, just crack the high pressure lines slowly and let the pressure droop. Wear safety glasses
Put a rag over the thing that looks like a giant tire valve and press in on the needle with a screwdriver. It'll break the pressure and the rag will catch the fuel spray. It won't spray very much since it's just fluid pressure.
