- In the newest episode of Andor, Luthen Rael hands over Cassian Andor a Kuati Signet. A blue Kyber Crystal to celebrate the defence against Rakatan invaders. But little does Luthen know, he's just made an awesome reference to the Star Wars game, KOTOR. As the Rakatans played a huge role in the game.

Dude I lost it. I got so hyped. KOTOR and all the timelines that game mentioned are HUGE favorites for me. Yes yes yes. Ordo, Bastilla, Malak, Revan, Exar Kun, Mandalore the Ultimate they're all coming back one day

Mentions like this also bring things into canon. If they ever do a series set during the Rakata Infinite Empire, maybe about the beginnings of the Jedi, Sith, and Republic, this might be setting the stage.

@@Hibbidyhai OMG imagine if they bring the events of Kotor 2 into canon so that the Force being the TRUE VILLAIN in Star Wars would also be canonized? I can only imagine Disney doing that in a future series only to backpedal in the last second after realizing what Kreia's teachings actually say...
There's also Starkiller's helmet in the background (though on a different set of armor); and also a fractured version of the Mortis stone that came from the Jedi Temple on Lothal, in the World Between Worlds episodes from Rebels.
The stone from Rebels had three different hand configurations representing the three Mortis Gods, but it was in one piece... this stone seen in Andor looks the same, but its fractured in two, between the hand configurations; perhaps it's a little Easter egg referencing how the Son fractured the union of the Mortis Gods by his actions, in the Mortis Clone Wars episode arc?
I actually couldn't believe that was Lord Starkiller's helmet. They are probably paying tribute since he is the original origin of the Rebellion.

@@loominizer31 doubt it, because I want the show to focus on nothing but Andor and the rise of the Rebellion. Also, it’s a Sith Stalker helmet which was an historic helmet used by the vicious Sith Assassins so I doubt it means Starkiller is canon or is going to appear. It’s just means the Sith Stalker armor is canon

Rakata has been canon for a while (TFA Visual Dictionary) but that was just the planet itself, not the species or any lore about them. Hearing the name mentioned onscreen was really cool though, I always love when anything Old Republic is mentioned.
visual dictionary canon is always iffy, it's usually canon until it isn't. It gets overwritten a lot, but having something mentioned in a live action series makes it solid.
Another name drop I was impressed by was Mimban. Cassian fought in Mimban when he was 16 years old, meaning 10 BBY. This means he served at the same time as Han Solo did, as seen in Solo.
Cassian could have very well been on the other side of some of the same battles Han was fighting in, although its not clear to me how long Han was there before he deserted.
Imagined if Cassian was the "MY LEG!" guy.
Yet another scene where I am shocked how anyone claiming to be a fan of this lore and mythology could EVER think this show is boring. Every single scene is FILLED with so much depth.

Makes me scared for KOTOR because every legacy project like Obi-Wan and Boba were misses, unlike their original projects like Mandalorian and Andor, which were hits

Honestly if Disney just started developing original stories in another Era you'd be able to get the full writing capabilities of modern writers without the limitations of working around the various different canons. Lucas left plot holes, Abrams designed plot hole, and the whole in-between-quell of a prequel is a mess.
'Misses'? While both had their flaws Obi-Wan and Boba were both well received by both critics and fans.

As a massive KOTOR fan, I went nuts when I heard this. I love the extra wars KOTOR added (Mandalorian, Infinite Empire) as much as the main plot. So heading the word Rakatan, I had to research and verify.
Are the mandalorian wars canon?
Rakata Prime has been part of the Disney canon since the beginning, but up until now (aside from a few planet name drops), the Rakata have not been directly referenced. Even more interesting is if you consider that the Zeffo also share similar backgrounds and connection with the force. It would not be all to surprising to see the two empires having some influence on each other in some way.
I was very surprised with that mention. It made me really happy when i heard it. Also that kyber crystal looks like i could fit inside a lightsaber, Luthen seems very fond of it.
I would love to get a breakdown of the scene between Dedra Meero and Anton Lesser's character when he says that she was brought to the ISB for a reason. I feel like I didn't understand what he was saying. I know it's not lore related but would love your input.
Probably has something to do with her being a woman. In legends at least, women were seen as just above aliens in the military and intelligence side of the imperials. Not a lot of female officers but there were a few. Kind of wonder if that is being brought into play here.
@@wij2012Gaming That's exactly it, I think. IIRC the actress had also said that her character will explore gender dynamics in Palpatine's Empire.
The Major talking about her having a much higher bar to clear, which is "unfair, perhaps" and his line about "officers like you" was definitely about her being a woman.
I think it's amazing that a showrunner who isn't even a major Star Wars fan and has asked his crew to let go of their Star Wars reverence has been doing the best job so far in honoring the old Canon (like with the Rakata) and in bringing in this sexist aspect of the Empire in a meaningful way, rather than just giving us a "strong female character" who never has to face any obstacle.
The ‘letting go of your Star Wars reverence’ is probably mostly for the actors. The Andor series mostly ejects all of the campy/silly aspects of Star Wars, and pretending like it is any other series helps with the immersion and the delivery of dialogue with a seriousness you don’t always get in the movies or other series. But for the set designers and script writers they are doing a great job of weaving stuff in so that everything is connected, even if its subtle. This is a big galaxy with thousands of years of recorded history, if there were no references to the past anywhere it would be really weird.

Kuat being invaded by the Rakatan is 100% fresh new Pre-Republic content. This is a great day.
In the new High Republic book series, it even mentions the Old Republic in passing.
Now that the rakata are canon again they have no reason to keep the earth bane books non-canon
I really don't think so, I think they want the galactic empire to really be "the first galactic empire", in those books its clear there was/is a quasi-imperial like sith empire, I don't think that should be canon, also the ship design is too similar to ISD. The ISD is meant to be the evil version of the Venator, making this canon would sully the symbolism
@@SuperExtremeTNT There was no sith empire in Path of Destruction. They conquered certain systems but ultimately lost the war and couldn’t establish any type of galactic control. And the book makes no mention to how/if the land the sith held was governed to any extent
The character is canon though, even though not all details from the books are.

This makes the Dawn of the Jedi comic canon for me. Idk if any of you have ever read it but the third volume was honestly a masterpiece. I adored it

Considering Disney is also having KOTOR remade, this actually seems like it will mesh really well and perhaps gives us a sign that the Rakatan aspects from KOTOR and EU will be retained into the new canon!

If it celebrates the uprising against the rakatan invaders then that must've been a more recent development, because during the Kotor era, the Republic had forgotten all about the Rakatans.
you KNOW just KNOW the producers of Andor at least some in visuals HAVE taken Ques from KOTOR franchise for the look of corporate security even to the point they have a Slim Stocky Fat and avg build Uniform for all male body types but also female to a degree.
look at any armor sets for SPY/sniper/officer in SWTOR, the armor is pretty spot on even has a bit of flair on the chest with a device like a radio.

After Revan made contact with the Rakatan survivors, other starships would probably open up trade and travel. They're a warlike species, so once they regain interstellar flight, they'd probably try to invade other systems just without their extensive Dark Side Powers, as I believe their species is cut off from the Force. It's more reasonable to have an artifact from less than 4000 y before that from more than 25k y before.

For me this is memberberries at it's worst, their was no record of the Rakata in kotor and that was nearly four thousand years earlier but people want eu content to be canon so they'll grasp on to anything.
Ehh, it's plausible because Luthen is an artifact collector. No one else except for scientists would casually know 30,000-year old history.
I had a double-take as well, so I looked up if this would have been the first Disney-Canon reference to the Rakata: It wasn't. It had been mentioned in some obscure comic books in 2015. But it is the first in a series or movie.
It was also named in 2015 in the TFA visual dictionary, which I have. So I've known it was canon since then. I still loved hearing about it like this though.

If playing by a famous actor wasn't enough. Luthen being an Antique collector made me 10 times more interesting in him than any other characters. So many EU stuff and unexplored stuff that can potentially be added.

Episode 4 had a lot of crazy things going on. Hell its probably the first time a piece of Star Wars media didn't have a token black man(Lando, Mace Windu, and Finn) as it featured 3 black characters.
