- this is Sans battle with the song that might play when you fight Sans. It's really does fit to the battle, I guess the song should called the song that might play if you know how to edit the game, I just replace the Megalovania song file with the song that might play when you fight Sans. I guess you could say that "I'm a dirty hacker".
it would be better if ths song is used in a battle, I really like this song, I think this song should be used in Sans battle in neutral route if you killed Papyrus, but the battle shouldn't be hard as the genocide route, and the genocide route still should be used in genocide, because the song is more serious, I know Sans didn't fight you in neutral route, I'm just saying it would be awesome if Sans fight you if you killed Papyrus.

The joke is that after Sans said that, the Bonetrousle motif kicked in, almost as if hinting towards you murdering Papyrus.
My favorite part of the song is the bonetrousle remix somewhere in the middle.

I honestly think this theme should be used for a neutral sans fight, where the fights a lot easier than the genocide one, but it still pretty hard. I also think it should be impossible to kill sans in the neutral run because he’ll just dodge, but he won’t get tired either because he’s not using all of his magic (so in the neutral he won’t use his blue eye, or the gaster blasters) so basically you can either spare him right away because his name will be always yellow throughout the whole fight, or you could fight him for about 20 turns and then he’ll just get tired and leave, anyone else agree?!

Droplet the Lancer Fangirl if you look at the official soundtrack, this song actually is found near some other songs heard on a neutral run, such as “long elevator”, “undertale”, “bergentrückung” and “Asgore”, suggesting that at one point, you would’ve had to have fought sans on a neutral run before asgore, and this song would’ve played.
I thought there should be a neutral sans fight, but it would only occur if you killed papyrus. But then sans wouldn't want to go easy on you. Sans doesn't care as long as papyrus is safe

I do agree that it's a good song, but it just doesn't fit. STMPWYFS has always sounded like a song for the pacifist/neutral routes. It's short, and isn't very intense like Megalovania is.

My theory of tis theme is either it was meant for Sans's Genocide battle but was replaced with Megalovania, or perhaps it was meant to be Sans's Pacifist battle, supposedly if Sans WAS meant to be faught in the Pacifist run.

Well, the word Megalovania is a play on the word Megalomania, meaning an obsession with the exercise of power. Chara/the player could be seen as a megalomaniac during the genocide run as they kill everyone. Therefore, yes, this does fit that theory quite adequately.
as well as I'm pretty sure this song is actually in the game files and also part of the Spotify soundtrack for the game, so it would make sense that Toby Fox was gonna put this song in but decided not to.

Honestly, I'm starting to believe Megalovania may just be our theme. "The Song that might play when you fight Sans" is somewhat fitting, it has a part of Papyrus's theme to evoke a sense of "You feel your sins crawling on your back" but like the overall theme fits with Sans's personality. Perhaps Megalovania plays only in this battle and not during Asgore or Undyne because in this situation, Sans is actually "self aware"(?). Not sure, I'm just finding justification for Megalovania possibly being our theme. We are the enemy now. Genocide. And Sans knows the importance of this battle more than anyone else. He's the one trying to dodge our attacks.

This song is the speed up version of the "sans" , in each route , in final battle , our song plays , like "Finale" against the battle of "Omega Flowey" ... Do not mess with me and say Asriel trying to kill us song is "Hopes and Dreams" , it is our theme song, this is done mainly to match the scenerio instead of character personality only for example ... "Megalovania" word came from "Megalomaniac" and sans is not Megalomaniac , we are , Megalomaniac means the thirst of gaining more power or so ... If you think closely , then if sans ever fight with us on Pacifist , Song that might play when you fight sans is the perfect song because he will not get serious and will use BLASTERS and HIS EYE and TELEPORTATION unless he have to do it because he is lazy bones or so ... I think Megalovania should play when you begin to battle Sans, and after you don't spare him, Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans should play afterwards.
Megalovania sounds like Sans' being a furious badass that only want to kill Frisk.
The other song sounds like many emotions in Sans' mind collide with each other due thinking of Papyrus while being physically and mentally tired of the fight against Frisk. Therefore, it should be close to the end of the fight.

I honestly prefer this theme more, because of what people have said. It entirely changes the tone of the fight.
Megalovania was your theme, made for you, basically saying you're the danger, you're their demise.
STMPWYFS Tells you that, not only does the LAST person who will fight you in the underground still have the courage to. But that they are also the same exact guy that sleeps on the job repeatedly. The same guy who cracked jokes consistently during your first encounter. The same guy who you thought wouldn't even have enough energy to punch you.
Yet he does.
He has more than enough energy to teach you your place. There is still something stronger than you. The SINGULAR least likely person in the underground, with next to no battle training, is tougher than you.
Combined with the fact he SURPASSES your expectations by :
Mocking you after each death
Dodging attacks
Using unseen blue soul techniques (as in slamming you everywhere with his hand)
Poisoning you.
Understanding the turn based battle system to the point of not even letting you have your turn.
This song is just one big laugh at you for killing everyone and being overconfident.

I honestly would've preferred this theme if it were a bit longer, Megalovania really feels recycled to me, considering that it had been used in multiple other projects Toby helped with.
I like this theme better, it feels more energetic. Considering he is the hardest boss out of all of them.
At one point during the video I just started reading the dialogue and completely forgot this isn't the actual theme for the fight. It really feels like Sans' theme.

For anyone wondering, "The song that might play when you fight Sans" doesn't actually play in the game, so it was unused. People theorize that it was meant to play in a Pacifist version of the Sans fight. (Which was also unused)

Love this theme but it’s definitely not appropriate to the moment since Sans is trying to fight a genocidal maniac who killed his brother. This would be better for a pacifist fight if there was one.

Theory: This is San’s true theme, this is what you hear while fighting him, but, he hears Megalovania, Megalovania is not his theme, but yours, you’re listening from his POV
I think this song was originally intended for a boss fight with him should you kill papyrus under any neutral conditions. It was probably scrapped because sans knows how to keep his cool and he's super nice so it took genocide to get him to fight you it's also more inpactful that way and acts as a perfect final battle.
I like this song as well, tho I think it's a little too upbeat for a Genocide run lol. Maybe it could work in a pacifist, if when you fight Pappy, Sans joins in as well in that fight?? (Since I can kinda hear a little of Bonetrousle thrown in the "Song that might play when you fight Sans.") I think this song would fit more better for a Neutral or Pacifist if you had to fight both brothers at the same time, or as you say, on a Neutral route if Papyrus is killed.
Or maybe this song could play when you 'date' Sans and he takes you to Grillbys after fighting Paps and you say Paps is uncool when Sans asks what you think of his Brother

I think there should have been a match between Sans in the no-kills route, before you meet Asgore. Instead of seeking revenge, he'd be testing your skills, as he still believes you can win. He'd fight in a similar manner as his Genocide route self, except it's slightly easier since he'd be trying not to go so hard on you. And this music plays. PERFECT.
