Those carpets are pretty cool for winter time , they look great and like there made to handle everything

Thank you Paul for the video. As I was fearing, the display is more than basic, it is very simple. Nothing close to what you expect from a premium brand like Volvo. In fact, the previous system had more customization options, and a design more in line with a Volvo, reproducing typical analog gauges in different colors. As I have been able to read in some places, indeed google android auto is not ready yet and there are functions that will not be available until the end of the year such as apple car play or android auto. So it seems that they have launched the product without being prepared, and we will have to wait to see what functions they add, and if it will be up to the task. I'm already regretting changing my Mercedes for a Volvo, I hope I'm wrong but looking at the level of finishes and connectivity and functions of the new Mercedes, I think Volvo is not at the same level.
I agree that whilst it looks a little better than before, configurability is very poor.

How did you get this wide view? On all Volvo videos I'm seeing a smaller maps and bigger dashes screen. You see to have a bigger maps and smaller dashes version. Did you change some setting?

Hi Paul, I would like to ask you about the current status/ability of the new infotainment system to display car status information. Volvo does not have the ability to physically determine the oil level on an internal combustion engine (oil dipstick). Is there any possibility in the infotainment of displaying the oil level in the internal combustion engine, as was the case with the older Sensus system, or other information, for example about the windscreen washer fluid level, etc.? I would also like to know if there will also be a graphical presentation of the use of individual engines and energy distribution in the Recharge version, as was the case with the older Sensus and as is usual with very cheap hybrid car brands (the question is directed to other discussants). Thank you.
Great question. It seems not at the moment. Many of the more complex options that were built into the old sensus system are missing from the new Google one.

Just stumbled across your channel as I’ve ordered a xc60 2022, looking forward to it arriving. One of the things I have noted is that the maps doesn’t display the satellite view whereas it does via a phone, do you have CarPlay and is it possible to have it full screen eg for google maps etc? Ps great video, glad you’ve switched to landscape view.

I've just been back out to the car and plugged in my android 11 smartphone, no android auto at all on the car. It should be there but isn't as of yet.
I was looking forward to seeing satellite view in car also, but it's simply not there. Audi's do have that but not Volvo.
Even when phone is wirelessly connected to car, it really doesn't work well when driving. I refer to playing music.
As Apple CarPlay is announced for Volvos Android Automotive system (for end of the year), but Android Auto is not is not announced at all, I am guessing it is not on the list of things to add (yet).

Changes to the display are coming (along with CarPlay support). Q1 2022, fingers crossed...
I hope they bring back to subtle colored mood lighting for night driving - honestly this is a real let down

Hi! My congratulations with purchase! Are there only 2 modes of cockpit that you've shown on the video? No any classical look with round instruments?
That's right. It would be fine if it worked, but it did crash on every long journey.

It's both. The centre screen simply goes black, turns off and generally restarts after 15-20 minutes. The cockpit has a splash of blue or blueish red across the entire view and stays like that until the centre console restarts after 20 mins.
The speed stays on though the entire time. :)
@@PaulMichaels01 Thanks again.. it’s a pity to see that Volvo considers all new customers as beta-testers of this new infotainment system. Not having said that it doesn’t provide full functionality at launch.

Normally, I would have done this for you, but the car is having issues even starting now. Volvo assist came out yesterday to issues with the battery. :)
@@PaulMichaels01 ah okay thank you. It is rather strange because we have had many volvos and they didn't give any problems. This new Google system has been a bit cr*ppy at the moment but hopefully they will tweek it over the next few months
Hi Paul, I have had 3 Volvos in recent times, an S90, a V90 momentum and just changed this recently for a V90 Inscription (a demonstrator). I have all the same problems that you have highlighted with the infotainment system. Agree the google maps/navigation is good but miss the driver modes and speed/camera alerts. + missing so much on the Volvo on call app. Again the dealer told me that a bunch of updates are due shortly, but I think you have heard similar stories months ago. Have you had any updates?

The potential for what Volvo can do with this display is on the Polestar 2. It's less basic and also the ambient lights are. I actually find the Mercedes version to be overkill. I'm not a fan of the ambient lights as much as others. But Volvo goes the other way and is underwhelming. What Volvo has previewed in a new concept vehicle for their next generation of vehicles is promising. However, they're talking electric only which I think is premature.

I fully agree that the move to electric only vehicles is extremely premature. If the batteries provided vastly more range than they do and the cost implications of housing any form of additional capacity battery weren't totally ludicrous, I for one would hop onboard immediately.
I previously had an 2019 S Class Mercedes and I was extremely underwhelmed by it's performance. The new 2022 model looks improved in some areas, yet a step in some regards in other areas.
The lumbar support in my S Class was appalling in comparison to that in the Volvo, I felt.
I look forward to the next SPA in the next gen volvo's.

Well you have talked me into keeping my XC70-2011 Model. Far too much tech on the car and most does not work !
I was tempted to buy a 2019 V90 which had everything I wanted, but was too annoyed about my experience.
I'm going to wait a while before I look at cars again.

This display is rubbish and lifted from the XC40 recharge. There are only two display modes described in the manual, calm and navigation. What happened to the round classic dials? Another unappealing change.
I agree that this certainly cannot be sold as a 'Next Generation' operating system, when they are removing many of the standard features, without making those changes clear.

Thank you for the video. This is very poor, even in comparison wit the older Sensus. I hope for improvements and more options for the cluster. Even the new Dacia Sondero has better cluster system. Volvo system is very far behind Germans cars. Quite disappointing.
I wanted so much for the new Volvo Google system to simply be what it promised to be. It's simply isn't ready for public release yet, plain and simple.

Volvo switched from their sensus system to this terrible google android system and that is a nightmare as about 50% of the functions are canceled - it‘s a step backward from about 5-10 years years . I will now not buy the XC90 T8 for 100.000 , a Skoda for 30.000 can much more . I just hope someone from Volvo read all the criticism about this topic and react .
Terrible setup. Looks as though very little effort has been put into this. My XC60 order is not going to progress. Zero excuse for releasing this level incompleteness. Recently wrote to Volvo to ask them if these are early vehicle releases and what features we should have got with the MY22 vehicles as the dealer networks knew nothing. Still awaiting a reply from Volvo UK - radio silence, which I feel is an acknowledgement that this is wrong.😕
I totally agree. I usually love Volvo but I feel so let down after going through months of waiting, then finally having to give the car back.
