Vanessa Fleming, ōSHen Knits & Fibres | Fiberchats, Episode: 272

Hi! I'm Vanessa, and I am the founder of ōSHen Knits & Fibres. Knitting has been a part of my life since I was a child, and I learned the skill from the women in my family. In 2018, I began designing my own knitting projects, but it wasn't until the end of 2019 that I gained the confidence to create designs for ready-to-wear knits. I officially launched ōSHen Knits in early 2020. Later, my husband and I wanted to create a space to work together and grow the business, as he is not a knitter (yet! :)). This led to the creation of ōSHen Fibres in 2022. Our creative inspiration comes from the ocean (I myself am a Marine Biologist) and my husband's musical background with his branch, Howlin Bear Fibers. We are excited to push our business in a new direction, combining our hand-dyed yarn and my knitwear designs into perfectly curated knitting kits for the everyday knitter.
