do no store with the doors down. i did that, now it is rusted at the doors, it took 15 years, but would have lasted maybe a lifetime otherwise. i just bought my second one and will keep it under the carport.

I've had mine for 2 years and it's working well BUT I wonder what others use as carbon - I've been using shredded paper but a friend adds wood chips / pellets from a pet bedding supplier? I think the comments on the video about it being soggy isn't so much to do with water getting in but not adding enough dry carbon material?? What do you all think? I don't really want to be buying pellets if I don't need to but I also don't want soggy compost that doesn't break down properly. Especially in the cold winter.

Yep, I think it just needed more "browns", we've been using more thin cardboard, torn up, and that seems to make a difference .

Great review keep them coming. I bought one in January and waiting on our first batch to finish. It doesn't smell bad, just could do with more time. It currently looks like moist balls of almost decomposed material. Just to add i have been putting in a hot water bottle at times to speed things up, it seemed to help if the ratio was a little off by us. I'd be interested to keep seeing your end results and what state it is at when adding to the garden. Thanks.

That sounds very like part of what we got out of it when it was quite moist in there. It's definitely a learning curve as to getting the balance of green & brown right & we are still learning. Happily the garden loved it & we broke up the bigger chunks, messy work 😜 And we will do another update too 👍

@@wildcottageknitting certainly is a learning curve alright. Great to know we got similar results. Looking forward to more updates.

We just got a 270 for my own home, but have grown up with traditional hot composter (does not rotate). But in my family we always add some sawdust when adding the food scraps. This keeps it dryer and I belive helps with the balance between green and brown more correct. I belive that food scraps usually are more on the green side so adding wood chips/sawdust work for us in the traditional composter.
But very interesting to see videos from others. Our Joraform has still not reached temperature, but I think it will work when it gets a bit fuller.

@@Zachry86 Good tip on the sawdust! We definitely need more ‘brown’ materials. Thanks!

Seal one or two of the seams with silicone not the door seams and then store the unit with doors down vertical or lower and the sealed seams up. Maybe that will stop the access rain water from flowing inside. Just a thought thanks for sharing your video.

What about the foam not being protected from sticks, wood chips etc?

Hello there thanks for the review. Coud you please tell me if you have had any issues with rust and I've heard after 2 years they start to fall apart.

Hi Matthew, ours is still going strong at 3 years old. It is under a bit of a roof now, but still certainly gets rained on & wet in our damp windy climate. So far so good 👍

Looking to get a composter, this brand seems to be one of the best from watching other reviews. Is there any others anyone can recommend similar or better quality

Hi! Sorry so late to reply! This is the only brand we've used other than the really cheap 'regular' ones that are bottomless plastic. But I have heard that the Hotbin is another good one. Good luck!
