it is nitrocellulose, but the nitro lacquer of today isn’t the same thing as what nitro was back in the 50s and 60s. It doesn’t wear or break down as easily and definitely feels a little more substantial, like poly.
I’ve had poly guitars all my life and none of them feel like this one. Especially the smell… it’s something else! Even for modern nitro finished guitars, the coating is much thinner than other models like the AVII.
This telecaster blows every guitar I’ve owned out the water, in fact, I have an American Original 60’s Strat I’m now selling and it just sits there as the Isbell Tele gets all the love.
The best MIM 60’s Telecaster ever made is the now unfortunately discontinued Fender 60’s Baja, custom shop design, american vintage 52 & 58 pickups, four way pickup selector with S-1 switch. $ 800 - 1000 price range. Difficult to beat
Side note: The compensated saddles are a must. The originals just don't intonate correctly. Also the back of the neck (on your guitar) has had extra relic work (be it natural wear, or otherwise) done to it. Out of the box, there's only a couple of mild patches on there.
Wonderful guitar !! I like everything except the price ! nitro, double binding, the "cut bridge", the white toggle, but come on give me a hard case for that price ! € 1.555 in Europe !
Thanks for the video. I bought this guitar when it first came out and have only played in maybe 10 times in 1.5 years. Have other Mexican teles that I love so I thought this one would be a nice addition. I was ready to give up on it and sell it, but I think I’ll make a few tweaks before I make the final decision. I think you hit everything spot on with your review
I just bought the Jason Isbell Fender Telecaster and I thought it was so cool, now I here him against Jason Aldean's "Small Town" we lived through this horrific pain of watching our City's burn for nothing, people losing everything and he stands with the lot against Jason Aldean. I hope I can sell my new fender Isbell Tele before it becomes as worthless as he is now.
I agree about needing a few tweaks. I do believe it's nitro and not poly.
Yeah you’re right there actually. It’s a very poly feeling nitro 😂

Bought one of these new in 2012 and not come across many Tele's that outperform it at all!
Baja is the best MIM guitar ever made' I have both 60's and 50's I prefer the 50's maple fretboard.
After you answered my question dude the clip played and yeah....it sounds like it wants to rock out more!!!

False. A well made tele can intonate accuately, like fender AO tele
The body seems a lot shinier as well. compared to what I’ve seen the body is closer to a “matte” finish
8:00 error there mate. This is a Nitrocellulose laquer not poly.
Yep my mistake! Cheers for pointing that out
Specs say it’s a Road-Worn-Nitroc-Finish not Poly. 🤔 💁♂️

Jackson 👍🏽 ... avec un peu de travail dessus, de That Pedal Show mon pote Mick adore le sien !🙂
Did it feel sticky to you? I played one in a shop. Maybe it was just from too many hands but I didn’t like how sticky the whole guitar felt.

Hmm, that’s got me thinking!
Love the filter jam! Was that the HX Stomp?
It certainly is! And a bit of Walrus Slö
Put a 12 set of strings and crank it thru a 4X12 cabinet and 100 watt head..... heaven.
What kind of pick ups are in this tele ?
No escucho el clasico sonido telecaster por ninguna parte
Whats the weight?
This one was low to mid 7lbs
The finish on these is nitro not poly
this tele is nitro, btw...
It’s not a poly finish. Nitro.
It’s not poly. It’s nitro.
Skinny Neck? Not at all IMO
