+ PBS Digital Studios I LOVED her, I think she's a very good host :) (I liked Craig too, don't get me wrong). I also hope she considers the possibility of making her own ASMR channel. I would definitely follow :)
I think her energy level as far as voice and personality was "perfect" - not notably different than any of my favorite presenters. To me, if she were to be standing sometimes, and move her body and hands more - like the others do, it would be easier (for me) to focus. Obviously, this is a subjective thing and she doesn't need to be as animated as Criag, but the difference here is definitely jarring.
I feel like I'm going to love this series. I'm a Romanian film student looking to become a screenwriter, and seeing Lily mention one of our movies (The Death of Mr. Lazarescu) next to Brokeback Mountain made me extremely happy. I also find it very inspiring that she's the one presenting an otherwise fairly male-dominated field. It helps me believe that one day I can write my own films wihout having to worry about being a female screenwriter. Thanks, Lily!
+CrashCourse Looks like it will be a great series. Would have been nice to have an introduction of the host though as is usually done with other series so we can know why they're subject matter experts. I did google the host and saw she is an actress, but just thought I'd mention it anyway.
I have no academic background in film or media, and it has nothing to do with my work, but these Crash Course series on film history and film production are fantastic! Over the last couple of years I've learned to enjoy films not just as a way to stay entertained for 90 minutes, but also as a way to think about philosophy, aesthetics, sound, music and storytelling. Let's hope more people end up joining the audience!
If you're reading this and it happens that you're working out on your first screenplay, always remember this quote: “Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” - Louis L’Amour
Okay, one glance on the comment section and I realize I'm not the only one to find this is the best easy to digest crash course. I feel like I'm gonna love this so much. Thanks Lily!!
I am a film student so this doesn't count as procrastination, this is studying... right? So happy you are making these! Thank you Lily, thank you Crashcourse!
As someone who wants to write novels and eventually screenplays and get into Hollywood despite pretty much no chance of it happening, this was very interesting. I can't wait to see more from this series.
As a person planning to take Creative Media and Film Studies for A-Levels, this series (as well as Film History) came at the perfect moment! R.I.P Craig. He will remembered for his eagle punching.
Im so excited for this series. I have been interested in Film for my whole life but in this past year Ive actually had some opportunities to pursue my dream of being a writer/director/actor by getting some set time. Craig's series has helped me develop some different methods and techniques and I am really excited to see what this series can bring to the table
Finally! I feel like the first time that the host isn't shouting at us. I don't really love film, but I love CC and this is a real pleasure to listen to. More like this please!
ayyy I can't believe i just watched 9 minutes of a video that has more information and it's more understandable than 20 hours class on the subject that i took x_x you guys are the best
This is amazing! I've always wanted to study film production and screen writing and this is the most informative video ive found. Cant wait for the rest of the series!
For those looking for good free stuffs to enrich your film appreciation and understanding abilities, this course seems essential! .Started this course 26th October, 2019 from Bangladesh.
This is so great since I’m going to college for the same stuff at the same time, that way after class I just watch your guys’ videos and I get a deeper understanding of everything
This was awesome! For a writer, these coming videos are sure to be a great help for me to evolve my writing style and creating more for my readers than what I can produce today.
I'd like to thank you a ton for making this! I'm currently directing a short film with my local library. I'm also one of the seven writers for the script... Its a small group of 30-ish teens but its still really chaotic. I feel like I got nominated to the role without knowing much...this helps ALOT.
What I like about series like these is that whether they say they are for screen writing, novels, etc. they all have overlapping elements that help. People, treat this as Crash Course Storytelling, for now. Though I still would love a general story telling crash course that discusses the 5 most popular mediums. Don't have the cash for books like Robert Mckee and John Truby but still need to learn.
Septem You can also look up interviews with Truby and McKee, if you want to hear from them specifically. UA-cam has great resources for storytellers of any medium.
I'm a big fan of movies, to be able to understand their production and everything behind the scenes is great! Thank you for making this series crash course !
This is going to be a fantastic series! Not just for film students. Every tween, teen and whatever comes next with a 🎥 (well 📱;) can use this course for the betterment of all if it means increasing the production quality of the YT trending section.. 😊 Thank you! All jokes aside, really interesting series. I'll be watching them all. Cheers.
Yes, I need this! I'm trying to be more versatile in writing and I would love to make a decent screenplay. I get a bit of the basics but it's a bit confusing for me. I mainly write poetry and stories.
This is my first comment of Crash Course Channel. Basically, nice, also nice topic and Perfect inducting topic. Good Luck, and keep going Crash Course :) Amer
Thank You Lili for this wonderful teaching I had learnt a lot and last but not the least this is one of the best teaching I have ever had on film making
PLEASE! I would love to have a Crash Course on Video Game Development and the process from idea to the game and everything in between! You guys are awesome!!!
At first, I wasn't interested in this series and almost unsubscribed, but if the next episodes teach me even half as much interesting info as I learned today, it will be time well spent. Thanks for sharing!
Here's the "three act screenplay" in it's most simple form, according to Lew Hunter, chairman Emeritus and former Professor of Screenwriting at the UCLA Department of Film and Television. 1: you chase the hero up a tree. 2: you throw rocks at him. 3: you get him down from the tree.
And now she’s won a golden globe. GO LILY 🎉
I really like this host. She has a great narrative voice.
There is something wrong with the audio. The S and plosives are very harsh and tinny. Intro video was worse, but still not corrected here
Finally, somebody speaks at a normal pace that's easy to follow!
and yes I still watch on 1.5x loll
Came here after watching Killer of the flower moon's trailer. I knew I've seen her somewhere. I was right.😎
WELCOME LILY! Anyone else find her presence so calming?
ME! :D
- Nick J.
I really enjoy her presentation style! Looking forward to the rest of the series.
PBS Digital Studios she is good. Like the others... I think...
Super calm. But Craig was great too!
+ PBS Digital Studios I LOVED her, I think she's a very good host :) (I liked Craig too, don't get me wrong).
I also hope she considers the possibility of making her own ASMR channel. I would definitely follow :)
This was the most calmy presented Crash Course in a while, I like it!
"No eagles were punched during the production of this video" XD
Yeah, that's a pretty nice way of saying she was so low energy she made this series a borderline snoozefest.
azdgariarada uh...
I think her energy level as far as voice and personality was "perfect" - not notably different than any of my favorite presenters. No way. There's nothing boring about astronomy. Especially when it's bad.

Thank you so much for this comment and GOOD LUCK with your studies. I hope you find this series helpful!!!
- Nick J.
Thank you! Craig's series helped me prepare for my entry exam for film uni and I'm sure this series is gonna help me with my studies. You guys rock!
+CrashCourse Looks like it will be a great series. Would have been nice to have an introduction of the host though as is usually done with other series so we can know why they're subject matter experts.
I did google the host and saw she is an actress, but just thought I'd mention it anyway.
Show me your snatch darling!
Nu chiar, Cluj :D
Oscar nominated, Lily Gladstone
GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER LILY LET'S GOOOOOOOO
I'm thrilled that Lily Gladstone is hosting this series. I thought her acting in "Certain Women" was absolutely excellent.
*glad
Right? SO GOOD!
- Nick J.
It’s 2023 and she’s in a movie with Leo! She made it!
I have no academic background in film or media, and it has nothing to do with my work, but these Crash Course series on film history and film production are fantastic! This Lily Gladstone person has a good head on her shoulders, I think she's going places.
Yo this is the same Lily from Killers of the Flower Moon!?!?🤯 congratulations to her👏👏

im gonna study film production at uni in september so this series is perfectly timed!! excited for the other episodes!!!!
AHH! Good luck with film school! I hope this series is helpful for you! Let us know as we go.
- Nick J.
Good luck!!! Film school is a lot of fun! :D
how's it going for you now?
12 years of teaching screenwriting, and I just found this video! It boils it down so simply 😍
Your voice makes it so much easier to listen to!
How to go from this to be an Oscar nominated 😮 way to go 🎉🎉
I really loved Craig, but I do enjoy Lilly's calm approach. I think this part of the series is going to be just as great as the first!
Excited to her role in Killers of the Flower Moon!
As a storyteller, I have immediately fallen in love with this series. This episode was the best! Yay, Hero's Journey! Can't wait for the next episode!
I am a film student so this doesn't count as procrastination, this is studying... right?
So happy you are making these! Thank you Lily, thank you Crashcourse!
And Lily is now a Golden Globe winner
Crash Course is great! I remember watching the history vids in high school, love seeing this channel grow and have videos on many topics and subjects.
i hope all CrashCourse episodes get presented this calm, after all we are not computers, we are humans, we need time to process.
As someone who wants to write novels and eventually screenplays and get into Hollywood despite pretty much no chance of it happening, this was very interesting. I can't wait to see more from this series.
Oscar and Emmy nominee Lily Gladstone!! 🎉🎬🎞️📽️
Thank you so much for this series!
You are SO welcome!
- Nick J.

I really like the vibe of the host. Her delivery makes me feel like I could be sitting in an warm wood panelled room with a cup of tea.
As a person planning to take Creative Media and Film Studies for A-Levels, this series (as well as Film History) came at the perfect moment! R.I.P Craig. He will remembered for his eagle punching.
I love finding out that I have an interest in something that I didn't know I was interested in.
Really liking this already, lily is a total natural and very cool.
Im so excited for this series. Craig's series has helped me develop some different methods and techniques and I am really excited to see what this series can bring to the table
so happy about this new serie this field always been very mysterious to me ! CC keep slaying :)
What kind of maniac watched this incredibly informative, well animated, professionally presented and FREE video and then decided they disliked it?!
Great stuff! You hit on all the really important points, concisely and well-articulated! I'll be watching the whole series.
Finally! I feel like the first time that the host isn't shouting at us. I don't really love film, but I love CC and this is a real pleasure to listen to. More like this please!

THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER FOUND. CRASH COURSE FILM PRODUCTION? THE HEAVENS ARE OPEN.
A future Academy Award winning actress!
Checking back after seeing Lily in the Cannes press conference for KOTFM, she’s come a long way 🥲
I SAW THIS AND NOW SHE IN A SCORCESE FLICK
I look forward to this new series. Keep up the good work!
She is pleasant to listen to. She's not talking to quickly. I appreciate this.
This was awesome! For a writer, these coming videos are sure to be a great help for me to evolve my writing style and creating more for my readers than what I can produce today.
Ugh I am SO HAPPY with this CC!! Thanks, everyone involved!
Great continuation of this series. And thank you for not punching anything.
wow i really like that she speak in the topics to narrate of what she talk
OH MY GOD! Finally!!!! A crash course on filmmaking. I can't believe this. I am so in!
Took a screenwriting course last semester, she pretty much covered a ton of what we were through in that class.
that's a really awesome series !!!
Crash course is by far my favourite channel on youtube
I'd like to thank you a ton for making this! I'm currently directing a short film with my local library. I'm also one of the seven writers for the script... Just started my AV Production class, so glad this new crash course is happening !
I like this Not Craig.
For related information on storytelling, Lessons from the Screenplay is fantastic.
here after the cannes premiere of the new Scorsese.
what a journey from crash course to scorsese
This combines everything I love about crash course and the tranquility it lacks.

I'm a big fan of movies, to be able to understand their production and everything behind the scenes is great! Thank you for making this series crash course !
I have never seen lily before. But, I can instantly tell that I will like lily. I'm excited about this series.
This is a good change of tone.
I like the contrast with Craigs wackiness
Ladies and gentlemen, Golden Globe winner Lily Gladstone. You guys better listen well.
I can listen to her all day ❤️
Lily, you're an awesome host. I'm really excited for your section of this series. :)
This is going to be a fantastic series!
Not just for film students. Every tween, teen and whatever comes next with a 🎥 (well 📱;) can use this course for the betterment of all if it means increasing the production quality of the YT trending section.. 😊 Thank you!

As a film student, I appreciate this so much!!!! Thanks CrashCourse
This is my first comment of Crash Course Channel.
Basically, nice, also nice topic and Perfect inducting topic.
Good Luck, and keep going Crash Course :)
Amer
I'm glad this will be a series! As an aspiring filmmaker myself, I definitely need some pointers and help getting started. :)
This is very well explained and easy to understand
Thank You Lili for this wonderful teaching I had learnt a lot and last but not the least this is one of the best teaching I have ever had on film making
Really enjoying this series on Film Production - Lily is great! Thank you :)
Thanks Lily! Looking forward to the rest of this series!
PLEASE! I would love to have a Crash Course on Video Game Development and the process from idea to the game and everything in between! You guys are awesome!!!
Cool new section for this. I hope you get into Visual Effects. I'm a VFX artist and the amount of work we put into a movie is often glossed over.
This is going to be an awesome series. Great host. She's awesome!
This is just the thing I was searching for so long, Thanks guys!!
Very simple and easy to understand. Articulated very well.
At first, I wasn't interested in this series and almost unsubscribed, but if the next episodes teach me even half as much interesting info as I learned today, it will be time well spent. Thanks for sharing!
Such a helpful video! Can't wait for the rest of the series !!
Love it! Makes me even more excited for filmschool.
Perfect timing Crash Course!

I really hope they make even more episodes of this!
This is something I'm really looking forward to. Hoping you spend a little more on the details of the script writing process
Looking forward to this! Lily is an engaging host.
Action - Anakin Skywalker is angry.
Dialogue - Anakin: I feel ANGRY!
'Anakin Skywalker is angry' is not an action... it's more like
action- Anakin Skywalker stomps his feel and yells (or something along those lines)
Alan is sad
Alan : I’m sad 😢
Really like how you explain things, i'm gonna miss the eagle-punching antics of Craig but i feel you will more than make up for it ;)
Thank you so much. I've been wanting something like this for a long time.
Killers of The Flower Moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was very chill I loved it
A fresh idea, I hope at some points the series they mention camera shots with mirrors or crazy angles.
