GNSS gets you accuracy in the meters, not inches. And the RTK module gives you centimeter level precision, not millimeters. Also as good as RTK is, your drone has to be not too far away from the base that sends corrections to keep its precision (for example an Emlid RS2+ receiver the max distance from the base for RTK is 60km).
The base station can be 60Km away from the drone and still provide RTK to it? Does it need line of sight? I have a base station near me that's about 25Km away, but my M3E wasn't able to get connected to it.
@@SeekerDroneServices Yes it can but you'll lose so much accuracy that it would not be worth it. No line of sight needed, you should be able to connect to it using internet with you phone as a hotspot for the drone remote controller (assuming that the base is casting its data via NTRIP).
@@andrewmcdermott5415 it depends on the receiver, from the Emlid RS2+ product page: “Centimeter accuracy can be achieved on distances up to 60 km in RTK, and 100 km in PPK mode.”
Soooo much bad and wrong information! For starters he says millimeter... not true... its Centre Meter.. Also RTK to Go doesn't work anywhere in the world, it works within a suitable and acceptable range of the NTRIP casting bases. This what happens when drone people start mapping... please study RTK and GPS theory as this video has so much commercial risk if someone assumes its true.
Additionally, they should take into account that they are working with an 'unofficial' network, so it is not clear how or with what precision the coordinates of the base station they are connecting to were determined
I got it all set up and programmed into the controller, but the module doesn't seem to be able to connect to the station near me. It's pretty close - only about 25Km away - but it doesn't seem to connect to it. Does it take time? Line of sight? What is the best distance to be from the base station? Thanks. Edit: tried it again with better weather and it did connect after a while.
Thanks. At 5:20 mark, are you saying simply enter the station name as listed on the map as the "Mountpoint"? For example, the nearest one West of Chicago is YORKVIL; so that is the Mountpoint?
So how are you connecting to the NTRIP service? 4G,5G, WiFi (or a mobile hotspot?) and what if the survey is in an area with no connectivity? Perhaps you need to cover off PPK too...??
@FlybyGuys Stephen, hope you are well? Would you be so kind to inform me a bit more about this system? Does that module run off some kind of power source? What is all the costs involved? The module cost, subscription fees If i buy one can i charge end users to use my station? I see it needs cellular reception. Can i for instance place it where the signal exist and move down to an area with no signal where the job needs to be done but still be connected to the module? Is the idea behind the module to be stationed or mobile? If i use it where i go, other users on said module will lose their signal/accuracy? Do i still need to buy an alone standing unit for DJI T40 AGRAS to receive the signal? The drone is rtk ready. There are none such basis/modules in South Africa, so it makes me wonder is there any reason for this? Maybe url blocked or some kind of regulation from our communications entities or government? Registering and setting it up also seems challenging seeing i’m not very tech savvy, i can figure it out but its honestly not my field of expertise. Just want to do my homework before investing money and time into it. Thanks in advance!
While interesting, I think some of the items presented here as facts are not correct. Not trying to be hostile here, as I love your channel and other videos.
Hello great video and very techishly done. mine says RTK data not in use and my lvl of deviation is 10in plus. So I doubled checked eveything to see if correct yes it is, i am going to try a different hub and see if that brings the deviation back down to mm.. Lmk if you have any suggestions. thx

Can you explain why the max is 60km? (not saying you are wrong. Genuinely curious why that is true)

this was very helpful - thank you!
any updates on the map link? can't seem to find the station closest to me to try it out - thank you so much
The map has vanished. But check the list of beacons. I use the geo tag to locate the nearest one.
@@FlybyGuys where can I find that list??

Great video. Question: can one use this RTK MODULE WITH THE AIR 3? THANK YOU
Thank you. Unfortunately not. The Air 3 doesn’t have the module mount or the capability of receiving an RTK signal.
It’s just plain old GNSS for you.

Hello. If you have no cell coverage, it’s a problem.
Thank you for the video! Very helpful.
What equipment should I buy to set up my own station?
What of in parts of Africa, where the stations probably do not exist or are thousands of miles away?
Where do you find the map of base stations?
The map appears to disappeared, but you can find a list of the Base Stations on the webpage. Just find the country you are in and then the nearest BS.
Can I use the RTK module by itself on my drone or do I need to buy that base station poll as well.
You can just buy the RTK module and use the cloud service, rather than buy the base station.

can we use in swarm drone light show?
All drone light show fleets use RTK. It’s essential for accuracy with the animation.
unfortunately, that map link has an error for me with google maps. claims it cant load properly.
Thank you, I have liked and subscribed
Can I kindly ask, how did you get that map? I don't see it on the RTK2go website?
Thank you Ricky. The website seems to have disappeared. So I suggest manually finding each location nearest to you on the list.
How do you find this list?
Where can I find that list??
can you please tell me the difference between mavic 3E and Mavic 3M comparison 3D model photogrammetry
Hi. Sorry, we don’t have the M3M. Only the M3E
I have the m3m the only difference is the camera. M3M has multispectral camera.
Is the rtk module compatable with other drones? Is there a universal rtk module that could be used?
Only Enterprise drone. Not DJI standard drones.
What map is that you are looking at in the video to find base stations?
The map seems to have vanished. I’ll look into any update.
Another interesting topic well explained enjoy the beer
Haha, thanks Steve 😊✌🏻

It only works on Enterprise drones that have RTK. Standard camera drones don’t have RTK functionality.

No idea. I’ll have a look later today.
