This video was incredibly helpful!! I will be ordering some supplies from your site this week. I'm just now getting into really styled, longer laced lacefronts and I really needed this little lesson! much love
Thank you very much for this video. Rubbing alcohol, a toothbrush and a microfibre cloth did the trick and the lace on my favourite wig looks as good as new! :)
For what I noticed, the towel method was the one that made the cleaning easier because you can see the dirty parts much better and the toothbrush clean much faster with it. That's definetely the one I will be using. Thank you so much Bobby! This was very helpful just like your other videos, you explain so well and in so much details that is very easy to understand and I hardly ever have any questions. Love it!
+Paulo Matos THANK YOU!!! I try to be as thorough as possible and I have found that most of the time, I don't get many questions about the actual demonstration. LOTS of people telling me my videos are too long though. =P I'm working on it!!!
+WigginOutBZ I don't think they are too long. They are just not the average 3-5 steps tutorials we usually see. You actually make instructional videos that really teach what you have to teach and, to me, that's awesome!
I just do not believe it! There was even a wig with a lace that dirty that I had to throw it away! You should see it now. I did the version with the micr-cloth. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you so much for making this I am a cosplayer that uses wigs for my characters and many of my friends use Lace wigs and they are unsure on how to clean them yet again thanks you
Omg I love your videos. since I do cosplay from time to time your videos are so informative and entertaining. taught me a lot about lace front wigs and made me a little more confident to buy more of them. another great video!!
Hi, Bobby! I bought Tricia in Silver from your shop and am in LOVE! But as the stylist I am, I added some layers to her to make her more "faux queen". That wig was loooooonnggggg. I'm glad you mentioned that you offer Skype classes because I'm petrified of touching her now! I want big hair, dammit! And fingerwaves and curls!
She's a synthetic wig, the technique would work for human hair! If the lace is very fragile the brush and towel would be too rough, so gauze pads should be used.
Great video I have a beatific white lace dress I bought but have never worn The lace has turned yellow Just wondering if this tip would work for the dress and how much I would need
Bobbie, sadly i pulled a lil too hard on my lace while putting it on and it tore away from the wig. How do i attach it back the correct way? Is there even away to do it? Please help!
love you and your work and i need help! lol also I would love to take classes with you I'm in NYC too. love your videos totally helpful! I just graduated aveda nyc cosmetology program and I work at a hair salon in nyc I love extensions and wigs and wig making and natural hair too. found your videos you totally inspire and I learn so much from you. But more importantly I just had my first model with baldness/alopecia who had dreadlocks so I used a human hair lace closure bleached the knots cut the hair colored the hair installed it with scalp prep and adhesive to the client's head and the salon owner did loc extensions so the hair blended with his real hair. i can send you photos if needed so you see what I'm talking about. did this fir the for the first time he loved and we think it turned out great. we're going to do two more models and then offer this as an official hair service to those experiencing hair loss. Also I love extensions and taking classes on ventilating I'll be making my first mustache soon then full lace wig. I did recently go to the manhattan wardrobe supply definitely will buy items from them and told them everything I'm telling you now waiting to hear back from them. so i wanted to ask: 1.what tape and/or glue adhesives & removers you like to use? i'm trying different ones to find which work best...especially so when it dries even if they don't wear make up it doesn't make the lace of the hairpiece look a different color and not their skin tone 2. where do you find synthetic lace closure and frontal pieces? do you make them? where do you suggest to buy synthetic and human hair bulk hair to use for making custom pieces? 3. what do you do to color synthetic hair? or to dye lace of premade synthetic lace frontal/closure? a lot of synthetic closures and frontals i've seen in stores have wefts and aren't ventilated... 4. i'm looking for vendors that sell human and synthetic hair lace closures and frontals if you have any suggestions i'd love to know! :-) 5. i want to learn about styling, coloring, maintaining wigs like ones you have done. so i'd like to take a class in addition to bing watching your videos lol ***my email is jasmine.dolcine@gmail.com thanks for reading my essay long comment :-)
i have an OT question. i have a wig i've had for about three-four years now. washed it a few times, used your straightening tutorial to get the jank ends fixed...but it just seems very limp and like its at its end and not full like it used to be. at what point do you know you need to replace your wig, and do you just throw it away or is there someplace to donate it or something? just because its no longer full and vibrant for me someone may be able to do something with it...idk never threw a wig away before.
thanks for the tip. ive never sewed a day in my life and i have no idea how to begin sewing in stuff with the wig. plus the bangs are very thin and dull even after washing it recently too so i feel its kinda beyond my expertise which is very amateur at this stage. do you have a tutorial/video on resetting wigs? do you throw away wigs? if so at what point do you make the choice to? thanks for the feedback.
I haven't found anything that works great, unfortunately. I've tried a clorox pen as well as hair lightening bleach and I couldn't get it to lighten without a solid green cast to the lace which still ended up being too dark against my skin. But I am also SUPER pale. @@Wigaholicsharingiscaring
Bobbie, great video. Question; for those of us who for whatever lame reasons use synthetic hair wigs... is it okay to use alcohol? I mean if it cuts down the life of the synthetic hair so be it, but if it kills it???? What say you, oh wise one!
Please tell me this is safe to use on Human Hair....Swiss lace wig. I need help ASAP. What percentage of alcohol would I need. I'm in the UK and need to clean makeup off ASAP. So need to order the alcohol spray quickly through Amazon prime. Plus... does the alcohol leave any odor? Thank you so much for any help Xx
Can you use Denatured Alcohol rather than Isopropyl Alcohol? It has no residue unlike Isopropyl with leaves an oily film behind which tends to attract grease and dirt to it more easily. Is this the same on lace fronts?
I've never used denatured alcohol, nor have I ever had this oily film you speak of. I use only the clear isopropyl alcohol, they do make one that is green which I'm assuming is what you are speaking of when you talk about the oily film?
+WigginOutBZ Yeah, could well be. My husband uses both substances on solid metal surfaces and in electronics. Perhaps that's the difference to using the porous lace of the wigs? I really love your videos, looking forward to getting through them all!
do you gleu down the lace on top of your make up though ? i allways remove my make up first, right where i gleu down the lace, but now i'm wondering, is that really necessary ? its allways such a struggle to build up my make up right against the lace line...
I personally do not because I usually paint darker than my natural skin tone, but I know people that do remove it and put it back on top and it looks great. In the past when I've tried to put makeup on top of the lace and the spirit gum it gets very dark and chunky on me.
ok, so it will be just as secure on top of make up ? i allways thought the adhesive would not stick on make up, because wig tape doesnt... my skin needs to be completely clean and dry for wig tape to stick...
Possibly. Did you rip them at the seam? That is easily fixed, I would recommend adding some extra lace (I save all the scraps when I trim my lace back) to reinforce so the rip won't happen again.
I promise to clean my lace! But can you PLEASE tell me how to do those big waves you have in the blonde wig you are demonstrating with...or do you have a video for that already? I am hopeless! Please help! I'd be so grateful. Thank you x
+WigginOutBZ thank you I'm watching it again! The penny will drop eventually I am sure! I'm guessing Photoshoot with Katia is the clue? thank you lol xx
You can buy it on Amazon, as well as at various nail art suppliers, beautician shops, electronics shops and sometimes from Chemists behind the counter, but that will be expensive.
... I'm guilty of not cleaning the entire lace and you are right about the make up depositing and caking. :-/ I know, I'm a bad monkey. Definitely going to try the microfiber when I clean my lace EVERY TIME. QUESTION: how do you keep the lace from fraying? I notice this happens more so after I clean over time. Help!!
Bobbie, Is there any other reason to glue the wig than to keep it in place? Mine was fully trimmed to the hair line when she sold me my first. I regret not knowing you before that purchase. $300.00 full lace, Human hair, prob not Remi...but it was nice except hard for me to get used to VS full cap cheaper wigs I was used to that feels more like a hat for security. However, because of your demonstration I did buy the Milana wig grip but I almost only use it for me human hair wig. The others feel tight enough. If my wig falls off, I just look like a pretty type Lesbian..saying with love to all those I know!. I am saving for one of yours... hugs on success!
+Joel DuBois The glue should only be utilizing to keep the lace front from lifting or flapping against the skin, if you're relying just on the glue to hold your wig on you can damage the lace. utilize pins or adhesive tapes within the wig cap for the security, and only use the glue where the lace lifts.
+SnapesHoney2800 Thanks! Its one of the l'oreal high color, I want to say "red fire"?? I used to use their "red copper" for years but I wanted to try something different recently and I can't remember the exact name.
I also use a mirror,....if the unit has the glue build up, I rub the lace across the mirror repeatedly, and clean mirror with acetone, microfiber towel or paper towel. The glue just rolls off the lace onto the mirror. And then you can clean the lace with less chems
+Daniel Fuentes no worries!! I had a huge long explanation about it that I cut out for time, basically I'm only going to be doing the basics of wigs in the UA-cam tutorials with the more advanced stuff for classes only.
It's definitely close, but I find the 99% dries a lot faster than 91%. I'm trying my best to keep my tangents down to a minimum in the videos; I did explain that I use 91% a lot of the time but had purchased a gallon of 99% for a show and this was the end of the bottle. But I cut that out for time. Oops.
Man! Bobby. I am so glad you did this video. I can't tell you how no one has taken the time to demo.this technique. I've seen some with a mirror and the orange cleaner. Blah Blah Blah...Now....One question: what glue do you use? Thanks so super much!!!!!!!! Muahhh
Bobbie, I thought you didn't like or use the term "UNIT" I feel its a freakin Wig Girls! Years, fake hair on a woman a wig, on a man a toupee? However, please I do not understand why the only ladies that use that Term "UNIT" if from African American woman. Does this stem for some term that is used to described the texture or styling or build in pattern of the design. I just wondered if there was a difference in the industry. I have just finished my 15th month of Transitioning. I love and adore wigs. I have invested in may Vivica Fox, Raquel Welch, Iman from HSN. I love Silver, Bobbi (not so much now) and my favorite Charlie. I just want to know if 150.00 can buy a comfortable, almost everyday. Which for diabled me is I dress when I go out 3 times a week almost a real full wig. Here is a look I would love to have, its the closets thing to me feeling very comfortable!
I personally do despise the term "unit" to describe a wig or a hairpiece/toupee etc. I agree, it's a wig you should call it a wig! It originally stems from the men's hair replacement world, where they are called hair systems or units so men don't have the stigma of calling it a toupee (even though that's exactly what it is). I think this newest craze has started with the added popularity of AliExpress and similar Chinese vendor sites; where pretty much everything is priced "per unit" whether you're buying clothing or wigs and extensions. I think someone must have thought that "unit" was a suitable term, and has less stigma than "wig". They also use it instead of the word "model" when describing something "This wig model is called Beyonce" versus "This unit is called Beyonce". I feel that if you hate using the word "wig" that much and feel that it has a stigma, you can at least use a more attractive word like "crown" (which sounds prettier, but is still descriptive as something that goes on your head). Calling it a "unit" is definitely not incorrect at all, since a "unit" by definition is one of literally anything. I always say that you don't go to a Unit and Beauty Supply Store and purchase a $2 unit cap before you try on a unit; and people usually understand!
+Kaleo Gradilone That's the WORST!!! a client of mine gave me a wig once that she had used weave glue to apply, and it took me forever to get it out. If the alcohol doesn't work, maybe try ben nye bond off?
+WigginOutBZ I'm actually trying to be very patient a remove it be little steps. every time I have a free time to organize my stuff I'm using a little makeup remover on it to try to take it off. I made this on my frozen goddes because the base wig i used was one of my first lace fronts and I cutted all the lace off. I'm getting better yet hahah
That was exactly what I was thinking yesterday: god damn Bitch, I have to clean that lace, thats not a good look! but I did not know how I should do that so I was shortly before cutting some lace off -what makes NO sense! My wigs and I THANK YOU for the rescue! :D
+WigginOutBZ No criticism of your amazing work. I wouldnt get my glue off with alcohol. ive tried, but the only thing that works is nail polish remover and a toothbrush ;)
Oh! Gotcha, so you COULDN'T clean the lace with the technique that I do, but you still clean it. Every Broadway show I've worked on uses the alcohol, and I've never had a problem. But some glue is harder than others. Nail polish remover is fine, but depending upon the brand it can melt your synthetic hair and wear down the lace if you're not careful! What type of spirit gum do you use?
+WigginOutBZ Its MNastix by Grimass. Its super strong, even stronger then the one from Kryolan. The lace is ok, however i have the problem that after a while some glue is stuck to the hairline. And after about half a year i cannot completely remove it fro the hairline.
Hmm... I've never had a spirit gum not be able to be removed with isopropyl alcohol. Try soaking the lace front area in some alcohol for an hour or so for the glue with the hair in it. It should loosen it up a bit so you can peel it off.
Forget clocking the lace, think about the bacteria growing in the sweat makeup glue sludge! If that's not a recipe for breakouts, I don't know what is!
***** I can just imagine making a balm of everything in that residue- glue residue, old sweat, old oxidized makeup, shed skin cells, remnants of cigarette smoke (and whatever else they were exposed to), bacteria from their own bodies, bacteria and viruses from the people they were around, etc...- and telling them to rub it in good all around heir hairline. They'd be so disgusted and angry!
It can be if you over use it. In this instance, the hair is synthetic (ie plastic) so the alcohol isn't hurting it at all. The lace cleaning process is the same for human hair wigs as well; and I often use a light mist of alcohol to reactivate product in a wig while I'm restyling it. Alcohol is usually within the first few ingredients in almost every hairspray, gels and hair product out there that is meant to dry quickly. I don't see using a mist or two of alcohol to reset a product is any different on the hair than another mist of hairspray would be, but that's me personally I know many wig people that refuse to use alcohol to reset product and only use water.
+twominutetips It's cute that she's completely oblivious to who this video is actually catering to. I don't find it offensive, but I'd probably enjoy Bobbie calling me a bitch if you catch my drift

You're amazing! I really really want to take classes from you to learn how to really style a wig! This wig is evvverryythang!

Can this be used on a synthetic?
is this a human hair wig, and would this same technique be good with human hair and softer lace?
She's a synthetic wig, the technique would work for human hair! If the lace is very fragile the brush and towel would be too rough, so gauze pads should be used.
Thank you for this. I had one and it was terrible haha. My wig shop lady told me to cut it! Thanks again. You are the best!
would u do a class on ventilating
Nicely done!
Where can I find your wigs...

I have a beatific white lace dress I bought but have never worn

Thank you , Baby,so helpful.
What kind of glue do you use on your lace? I have heard of people using spirit gum but I’m nervous of trying to remove it after.
Thank you for sharing. Good job.
What a difference!
Also how do you prevent the color from seeping through when coloring?
If you turn the wig inside out and put a few coats of hairspray on the inside of the lace it will help keep it from staining
I was just about to search your channel for this! *spooky mind reader music* fankooo! love ya x
What removes makeup like black eye pencil from a blonde wig? I tried alcohol, and I tried makeup wipes, and so far no luck. Help!😞
is it okay to use eyelash glue instead of spirit gum?
NEVER!!! It's really really hard to remove from the lace. Stick to spirit gum.

I've gone through a ton of alcohol trying to get craft bond out of my lace. Would Goo Gone do the trick or would that melt the hair?
I'm not sure what craft bond is?
craft bond is spray adhesive, sorry!
Ahh! Hmm.. I think goo gone would be your best bet, as a spray adhesive isn't intended to be removable like spirit gum is.
I don't think it would effect the hair.

but doesnt lace get trimmed off?
+Eva Madrigal This is how long I keep my laces, if not longer.
If you wear a wig with no makeup near the lace and not glue it down like in theater do you have to clean it every time you wear it?
You don't HAVE to, but it helps. You're still getting sweat and dead skin cells in the lace when you're wearing it.
Very informative. Isopropyl alcohol is difficult to find here in the UK... anyone know a good place? xx
I'm not sure if you would be able to find 99% but I would think pharmacies would have the lower volumes?
+Diamond Pearl I've heard that vodka can be used.
+Diamond Pearl they sell it "behind the counter" in Canada at every pharmacy, you just have to ask for it. Should be the same in UK :)
I've tried Lilybelle, the best they can do is surgical spirit which is not at all the same! ;)
You can buy it on Amazon, as well as at various nail art suppliers, beautician shops, electronics shops and sometimes from Chemists behind the counter, but that will be expensive.

Just be as gentle as possible, lace will always fray unfortunately.
Your hair is beautiful.
Thank you!!!
When spraying the alcohol on the lace with a human hair wig that has been dyed like blue, red, green, etc. will the alcohol extract the color of the wig?
It depends upon the brand of hair color used, but it can extract the color a bit over time.
Oh ok! Thansk for the info!

Thanks sweetie I will keep an eye out for it next time I am in tg e supply store.
I do santa, but I cant get 91% alcohol for my lace. What else could I use?
Thank you sooo much ! You just save my life 😍
I also use a mirror,....if the unit has the glue build up, I rub the lace across the mirror repeatedly, and clean mirror with acetone, microfiber towel or paper towel. The glue just rolls off the lace onto the mirror. And then you can clean the lace with less chems
+Samantha Mz. Lace Burks What's a unit?
***** lol,.....I forgot you didn't like that term when used in reference to wigs
+Samantha Mz. Lace Burks Hehe ;-)
Bobby Z can you make a tutorial on how to style a wig like the one you used on this video please?!!
What did I say in the video?
+WigginOutBZ oops sorry just was paying attention to what you were doing not what you were saying. sorry my bad
+Daniel Fuentes no worries!! I had a huge long explanation about it that I cut out for time, basically I'm only going to be doing the basics of wigs in the UA-cam tutorials with the more advanced stuff for classes only.
Yeah. I watched the video again and then remebered you said about the Skype classes. How much do you charge for those?
+Daniel Fuentes website link is in the description box and I have a specific page for education there.
I've found that 91% isopropyl alcohol works just fine! you can get it at Walmart guys!
Oops.
I love your hair and the Katya wig! My mom wants to contact you about a Dita wig. ✨💙
+Lacey Noel aww thank you!!! =D I look forward to it.
Your tutorials are amazing. So appreciated!!!
brilliant!
Man! Bobby. I am so glad you did this video. I can't tell you how no one has taken the time to demo.this technique. I've seen some with a mirror and the orange cleaner. Blah Blah Blah...Now....One question: what glue do you use? Thanks so super much!!!!!!!! Muahhh
+buddy77587 I usually use the Kryolan spirit gum, I talk about it in my putting on a lace front videos.
Kryolan spirit gum. Thank you so much!!!! Glad your back....
I love you bobbie!!!
Hi there
Sadly I have already tried that
Then I have no idea, I'm sorry!!!

+Rainbow kiwiboh Good question! I have never auditioned, and I most likely won't! I don't do drag terribly often, just a few times a year.

I'll have to check that out!! Thanks so much!!
Clock them!!!
Or wear wig tape
im alittle upset that we are just finding out about the skype live tutorials
I always say that you don't go to a Unit and Beauty Supply Store and purchase a $2 unit cap before you try on a unit; and people usually understand!
i made the awful mistake of gluing a wig with eyelashe glue... Dude, you have no idea of the mess I made. I try to work it out with your tips hahaha.
+WigginOutBZ would coconut oil help?
I don't know, I've never tried.
Can this method be applied to human wigs, Or will the alcohol risk damaging the hair?
You can totally do it on a human hair wig! Alcohol will dry out the hair eventually, so try to keep it all on the lace if possible.
Clean yo Lace...And don't forget the Face!
That was exactly what I was thinking yesterday: god damn Bitch, I have to clean that lace, thats not a good look! but I did not know how I should do that so I was shortly before cutting some lace off -what makes NO sense! My wigs and I THANK YOU for the rescue! :D
I need you to clean my wigs
I wouldnt clean that lace: To be fair: That would be such a freaking clean lace in my eyes! - But great video!
+Dita Whip Well... To each their own! If I don't clean mine after each wearing I can see the lace on my skin.
Right?!? It's gross!!!
+WigginOutBZ
👌🙏🙌💪🤗
I thought alcohol was bad....IE: drying ...for hair
WigginOutBZ good to know. I would have thought shampoo and vinegar....but now I know
Tiktok brought me here
Thank you!!
While I appreciate your videos the overly used term "bitch" is sooooooooo offensive.
+twominutetips Sorry you're personally offended by my use of that little word, but at least I didn't say the F word or the C word. YA know?
+twominutetips It's cute that she's completely oblivious to who this video is actually catering to. I don't find it offensive, but I'd probably enjoy Bobbie calling me a bitch if you catch my drift
Matt Bauler hehehe! =*
