  • Can a Subaru XV make it up a steep Motocross track made for scramblers? YS Khong takes up the challenge in the Subaru XV - fortunately the XV has X-Mode - which splits the torque through the front and rear axles, and also torque vectoring, which can split the torque between left and right wheels on the same axle. Not many SUV's in this price category can do this.

There is only two companies that make proper AWD - Audi and Subaru.
I live in a place where there are snowy winters. Audi and Subaru are the easiest cars to drive. I can drive these cars faster than other cars on the roads during a blizzard storms and still control the car better.
That said, always drive with care and respect mother nature. Because Mother Nature always have the upper hand.

Subaru is the best AWD manufacturer. But if need something more hardcore... Go for 4WD pickup truck. But for balance (on road smoothness and off road capability) AWD is the way to go and Subaru is the best in that drive train.

@@shahshahril341 Untuk level ladang getah/sawit, pantai, jalan kampung (tanah merah) XV ok sangat.
Untuk level off-road seperti jalan hutan balak ianya tak sesuai. Ni kena guna 4WD.

Thank you so much YS Khong for the information. I am glad that I own an XV. I have indeed driven on a road trip 1,316km down south and 1,611km north and found that it truly gives me the "Confidence in Motion".

HDC was first introduced by Land Rover in their Freelander. It is a very good innovation especially if you do a lot of off-roading.

Great video again. Do you think that the similar class such as XTrail and Outlander would be able to take on this course?

Hi Kimmy, the unique nature of this very tight track has some critical requirements - at two places, the vehicle will have two diagonally opposing wheels hanging in the air whilst negotiating a sharp bend. Whichever vehicle attempting this difficult maneuver needs to have.a system like the XMode in the Subaru that can transfer drive from one side of the axle to the other, in addition to a power-split between front and rear axles. Any vehicle not having such a system may get stuck, unless the driver manages to carry enough momentum to pass over the two critical spots.

Don't think the tyres can make it. It would be quite slippery. On Saturday evening it rained. The cars were still up there and still going, but we stopped in the interests of safety. It is all about traction when it gets muddy.
