CAVATATING it means when your propeller blades boil the water around the tip of the blade which causes the bubbles to pop which can be heard like popping bubble wrap ! Ex Royal Navy engineer 😁

Cavitation is when the pressure drop across the prop blades causes the sea water to flash to steam, forming a bubble and then collapsing, causing an impingement. This destroys props and pumps...pretty much any centrifugal pump is susceptible to this. And of course, it makes a massive amount of noise.
The deeper you are in the water, the less likely cavitation will occur as its a function of the overall pressure of the system.

So about the torpedo, most are made to not detonate on contact. Torpedoes are more often made to detonate once they enter a ships magnetic field. In short torpedoes are more like proximity warheads than a missile.
Would love to see a version of this game where you can control the surface ships and you can have surface to surface fights as well as under the surface.

also, you're taking damage from your own torps due to finding at too close range.
the blue box is where the torps sonar go active, if they go active to far away from the enemy ship they'll have advanced warning

the mighty jingles surved in the Royal Navy during the cold war on anit submarine frigates and he did some videos on this and just to let you know the rigia is an anti sub frigate and it has 100mm guns an rocket propelled depth charge basically the equivalent of the Hedgehog that the allies during the Second World War and a ansortment of torps and some that can dive and chace you

@Raptor how are you finding / fighting Moskvas and Kievs? I've played campaigns on elite where I've sunk 300+ ships and over 2000000 ton and yet in that campaign I only came across one capital ship and neither a Kiev or Moskva. Are you doing a custom mission?

You might be interested to know if you install the "More Subs" mod that's on SubSim it adds like 20 missions - one is based around a US aircraft carrier being sunk by Russian ships, you show up to the scene to investigate and get a sonar contact. *Spoiler Alert* There are twelve enemy ships in the area including a Moskva. It can get quite crazy as I am sure you can imagine!

i think World Scale, can change dinamic and sensor. I try it so many time, and i se sensor and distance change. Now for range of torpedoes and use of mk16 can be some difference using a 1:1 wolrd scale or a 1:4?!?!?!?!?!?!
you should play HMS Marulken it extremely realistic with sonar,radar,decoding messages and all that so it would be cool to see you play it.

18:40 The helicopters are hooked on to the ship so when the ocean gets crazy they don't fall into the ocean I don't know if the Russians did that or do that today but I know the Americans do hook them onto the ship.

On a serious note: The wire on your Mk. 37 torp broke because you were in ultra silent mode. I guess the wire spool is noisy or something. I was a little confounded by it at first but after some testing I have concluded you cannot keep the torp on wire while in ultra silent mode. It does seem like the wire can break at random, too, but seeing as it happened immediately upon launch here, I'm certain silence is the culprit.

1 torpedo leaves the 30 degree firing arc in front of your sub
2 submarine speed is above 10 knots
3 torpedo is launched over the shoulder (behind you)
4 bad luck (ya that is a thing, sometimes you can be in perfect position and the wire still breaks)

You see raptor this is the beautie of depth charges they don't need To hit you directly they just need To be close enough (in my poor expérience in silent hunter 4 these submarine grenade are the worst since only 1 could tear you up -_- )

You are using the tracking torpedoes wrong. the aim point in front of enemy targets are for none tracking torpedoes. with missiles and tracking torpedoes you aim a few 1000 kyd from the target then they will home into the targets. watch Jive Turkey's channel. formere sub sonar man
