Good one, thanks! "Megitsune" is one of their most loved songs and their most played live one: 337 times... and counting! It was released in June 2013. So, it's been a while. The style sub-genre is called electronicore, a mix between electronica and metalcore with a hardcore style breakdown. That breakdown hits hard and (apart of those pig squeals) the melody is from a well known Japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms). The word "Megitsune" = "me" + "kitsune" which means female + fox so, vixen. Hence the "kitsune" mask play during the breakdown. In Japanese folklore, the "kitsune" is an entity able to transfigure into a human form (mainly into a young lady form) with the objective to deceive men and cause them pain. So they sing that they aren't "kitsunes" but "megitsunes", "pure-hearted maiden-like female foxes", as the lyrics say. BABYMETAL fans are known collectively as "The ONE" and "kitsune" / "megitsune" individually. So, you can tell this song is important! It took 36 demos to Takehiro Mamiya best known as Yuyoyuppe (or Yuppemetal), the song's arranger, until Kobametal (their producer) was 100% happy with the final result. It may sound crazy but this is why "Megitsune" is one of their best songs (if not the best). 🤘🦊
Megitsune is one of the all time fan favourite Babymetal songs, and the one that they play the most at their live shows; it always gets the crowd to go off. This performance took place at Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama on April 1st 2023. I know all this because I was there in the mosh'sh pit jumping up and down like a maniac and yelling "Sore!" and making the Fox Sign with 12,000 other kitsune. The current lineup of Babymetal is Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) lead vocals and dance, Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) scream and dance, and Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) scream and dance. Up until 2017, Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) was the original third member instead of Momometal, but Yui retired from Babymetal in 2018 due to illness, and Momometal became the new third member of the group in April 2023, after serving as support dancer for the prior four years. Su-metal is 26, Moametal is 24, and Momometal is 21. Babymetal began in 2010 when Su-metal was 12 and Moametal and Yuimetal were 10, so Su and Moa have been Babymetal for more than half their lives. It's worth noting that Babymetal is just the three girls up the front. The musicians that play live with them are known as the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band), but they are not part of Babymetal, they are just for live performances. The lineup of the Kami Band isn't fixed, and there are actually two Kami Bands, one made up of Japanese musicians, and one made up of American musicians. At this performance, it was the American Kami Band playing. They are: Chris Kelly (guitars), CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass), and Anthony Barone (drums). Great reaction. 'Megitsune' often tops fan polls for their favourite song - it is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best starting with the sound of traditional instruments in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains why Su had the fox mask in the breakdown🦊) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. As I understand it, it is a bit of a push back against the traditional female role in Japanese society - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not deceptive kitsune (foxes), they are maiden-like megitsune (female foxes or vixens🦊) or actresses - and they are strong. The melody in the intro and used in the breakdown in the middle of the song is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su spoke a few words and did a high kick she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. You have already been told their ages (when they started in 2010 Su was 12, Moa and the original third member were both 11 ...they've been doing this for over 13 years now - more than half their lives so far). You also know about the Kami Band (East and West) and who they are. The Kami Band first appeared in October 2012 and they were phased in gradually playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. From March 2014 the Kami Band became the full time support for BABYMETAL in all their live shows. Strictly speaking they are not part of BABYMETAL (they do not record the studio versions of the songs for the albums), but they are a very important part of all the live shows and they are members of Team BABYMETAL. The fans know who they all are and give them the recognition and appreciation they very richly deserve. Only another nearly 70 songs to go ... you could pick anything and you won't be disappointed, they always give 100% effort, energy and quality - they appreciate people have paid a lot of money and often travelled a very long way to see them. You would appreciate their first show in the UK and their first major event outside of Japan. They were virtually unknown (other than their 'Gimme Chocolate' video had gone viral for the shock value), aged 16 and just turned 15 and with less than 30 minutes, just 5 songs, to win over a crowd of over 50,000 potentially hostile UK metalheads. The last song of the set was 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, For Ever) live at Sonisphere UK 2014 ... you will hear what the crowd thought when they walk off stage at the end.
Megitsune is their most performed song . They have had insane crowd control since there early teens . They tamed 60.000 British metalheads in 2014 at Sonisphere their first Metal festival outside Japan . Reaction you should do is the final song of a 5 song set . Ijime Dame Zettai this apprence has been called the Miracle of Sonisphere by many fans . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼 ua-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/v-deo.htmlsi=iG2kA0sNVuLkdHld
_Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥 "Meh - git - soo - neh" One of the quintessential BM songs. Make sure to check it out the official MV with the original trio and the girls looking super young.🦊🤘🔥
Since their earliest days-over 10 years ago-Babymetal's crowd control/interaction has always been a standout aspect of their performances. You picked a great version of this song to react too. Nice job.
Yes to more Babymetal!!🦊 Babymetal are only the three ladies. The band behind them is called 'Kami Band' and they're session musicians hired to play for Babymetal live performances only. Babymetal has a lot of different style and almost all of their songs are completely different than the other. So, I'm gonna go ahead and suggest: Babymetal - 'Catch Me If You Can' Live at Budokan 2014, to show some of those other style. Enjoy!!! 🤘🦊🤘🦊
Definitely check out: Headbanger - live, Legend 97 Yava Awadema Fever Catch me if you can Shine Starlight Arkadia Syncopation. You really can't go wrong with any of their tracks.
Nice reaction :) This is one of the BabyMetal songs that you really should check out the original MV. I think it was their third or forth release from the first album. The first two were Doki Doki Morning and Iine (iine), both are 'must watch' videos to see how it all started, especially iine you should see before watching it live or you'll never understand the second section. It really freaks a lot of people out the first time they see it. Have fun :)
Haha great reaction! This is an epic song empowering modern girls to shed themselves of the antiquated stigma emparted on them by past traditions. Fan favorite, and the song that is performed the most live by Babymetal, and one of their early classics (2013 song debute). Song title pronounciation: Meh-git-soo-neh. Here are more suggestions to mix things up: *For the WTF factor:* iine! (Official Music Video) - "ee-neh", often mistaken for "Line!" Their 2nd song ever, and "baby" Babymetal shows the world what they're all about. *If you enjoy adorableness, but require brutality at the same time:* Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014) - Heaviest song about hide and seek, and the original Kami Band East does an epic intro. *Best mix Rock/Metal, and melodies:* Monochrome (Pia Arena MM, 2023). *Proper way to celebrate lead Su-metal's 16th birthday:* BABYMETAL DEATH (Legend 1997). *Possibly the best collab ever:* Leave It All Behind (Official MV) - Thai rapper F.Hero, Thai rockband Bodyslam, and Babymetal absolutely rips in this amazing collab. *How to turn 60K confused UK metalheads into fans:* Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Sonisphere UK, 2014) - Babymetal's 1st major international performance at a legit metal festival. Confused audience ends up chanting "We want more!!" as the gals walks off stage after this epic set closer. Title pronounced "ee-jee-meh, dah-meh, zuh-tie", or IDZ for short. Look forward for more! 🤘🦊
Welcome back to the Foxhole and the wonderful world of happy metal that is BABYMETAL! 🤘🦊🤘 Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information. BABYMETAL started in 2010 as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal are: Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess. Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls. Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Left the group in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Yui-bot, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks. Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal). Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts. She is also why the rest of the world celebrates the 4th of July. Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs. Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Momo-Monster, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive. We are #notacult. Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘
Akatsuki and Rondo of Nightmare Budokan Black night 2014 to see Su being incredible and Babymetal Death and Headbanger from legend 97 if you want to see crowd control and this is them as kids.🦊
Nice reaction. Any suggestions? Hmm, I suggest any Babymetal song you can find. They're that entertaining. And since their songs all different from each other. Your ear will never get tired of listening to them.
Hi from Ireland glad your enjoying babymetal they are epic, keep up the live shows, I suggest you do one more live show atbpia, monochrome it's epic as usual. There are so many others, so maybe try a sumetal solo, Amore live at Wembley, and rhondo of nightmare with kamie intro. After that the babymetal world is your oyster, some if the less mentioned greats to put on your list, trilogy of lights ( three songs) dusk to dawn, tales if the destinies, no rain no rainbow 😊
Megitsune IIRC is pronounced like meg-it-soo-nay. Kitsene means Fox in Japanes, Megisune is a female fox or vixen. the song is basically7 about how (in some cultures) women are expected to act. smiling on the outside while crying on the inside. I believe it is one of the most popular songs at thier shows. I believe this was the last show ( I didnt notice a mic) for Momo as an "Avenger" (she just danced) and after this show she was promoted to MomoMetal of BabyMetal. Their current ages are Su is 26, Moa is 23, and Momo just turned 21. The band is not actually part of Babymetal.
Well officialy they are not a part of Babymetal but in fact they have their background Bands. If I identified the right concert this should be the Western Kami Band their American Background Band that was originally targetted to work on their European and US concert, but in the meantime they are used on most of their Concerts. Their Drummer is Anthony Barone.
@@ksbrst2010 Yes correct, Western Kami Band. As said they do have a real band at all their live performances since 2013 and the band members are a pretty stable set. Western Kami Band (since 2019) is Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin or Ryan Neff on bass and Anthony Barrone on drums. Eastern Kami Band (in earlier videos and used less and less the last few years, last seen in Jan 2023 Babymetal Returns concerts) is Hideki Oyama on drums, BOH on bass, Takayoshi Ohmura, Mikio Fujioka, Leda Cygnus or ISAO on guitars. Mikio Fujioka passed away in 2018.
As long as they play babymetal music the babymetal way...doesn't matter who's in the band. Babymetal is three incredible ladies and the band. Babymetal. Imo
Hi mate, nice one... 👍🤘 May I suggest "FAUN & ELUVEITIE - GWYDION", german Pagan Folk meets Swiss Folk Metal, truly a masterpiece... Stay safe and greetz from Germany

AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021.
They were:
Momoko Okazaki (see above).

Damn lots of info!! Thank you so much!! 🤘

Lots to choose from! Thanks! 🤘
And hello Ireland! 👋
I wasn't to sure about the band or their ages currently. And thanks for the info 🤘
Moa is 24, born July 4, 1999.
"meh-gee-tsoo-neh" (メギツネ).
I'm really not sure where you're getting a "it" sound.
Actually the musicians are not officially part of Babymetal. Only Su, Moa and Momo are officially Babymetal. Su is 26 now, Moa is 24 and Momo is 21.
Still so young putting on shows like that. Crazy.
@@PeytonsReactions to be fair, they're veteran doing this more than half of their life by now.
Babymetal. Imo
Great reaction. Try Babymetal Ijime dame Zettai live at Sonisphere 2014 official
