    I really wish geniuses like this guy didn’t think we were all as smart as them lol maybe then they would help us plebs with measurements and speak to us like the uneducated vanilla’s we are.

    I thought this was an excellent insight into building my own bottle screen jig. I do have all the necessary tools but unfortunately may have to abandon the idea as we don’t have “Do It” wood here in the UK 😂
    Couple of notes:
    - I’d pop on some wing nuts for the nuts you need to regularly change would make it quite a lot easier.
    - The spring you prob know isn’t adjusted right. Either chop and make a new hook end or get a shorter one.
    - Take her apart and paint her some mad colours and screen some signage on her too. Shit look I called it a her 🙈😂
    Thinking you’ve prob done all this by now since it was made a while ago.
    Bang on job otherwise 👌 👍

      Lol yeah, I've been building since a young age and am used to lots of 2x4's and plywood. Much harder to find here in China. Although steel and stainless are plentiful, so that's cool.

    Hey Please if possible Link all items you used from Amazon or related site, would help a lot I have no experience screen printing or printing in general, would love to get into this. also if possible can you do a tutorial on how to make the negative that goes on the screen to transfer the image. I am confused on how to make that. Thanks

      Well, I'd definitely practice screen printing paper/stickers/2D stuff before trying the cylinder printing. It's quite a lot of process to making good screens and prints. It's pretty easy, but if you want to stretch some screen, coat it with UV emulsion, shoot the screen, rinse out the stencil, then design registration/print, it can be a lot to practice. The cool thing is 2D printing one color is super easy and fun. It's a good place to start and all you'd need is a screen, UV emulsion, a design (could even just draw it on a piece of glass), expose in the sun or overnight with the light on in the closet, then a squeegee and ink. You could ask at a local screen printer or art school if classes are available. If not, UA-cam has lots of tutorials! Happy printing! Let me know if you go for it!

  • @squirestrahan2791

    So rad man! If you don’t mind me asking. Where is the squeegee positions over the glass in the machine when pulling. In front, behind or directly on top? And how much pressure . I keep running into the problem of having to much ink coming out from the screen bottom and not making a clean print.

    • @andrewcrooksartstudio967
      @andrewcrooksartstudio967  6 років тому

      Yes, great question, this is a key point I thought about making a video about. It took me tons of tests for this. But when I screen print a 2D surface, I usually keep the squeegee at 60-75 degrees (just a slight angle off vertical). If it's too horizontal like 45 degrees it smears the ink through the screen. On the cylinder printer it streaks the ink. I found that putting the contact point at the very top of the cylinder at a very slight angle like 75 degrees and pulling from the back it doesn't smear the ink. Also if the squeegee isn't directly on top of the cylinder I've had beer bottles fly out and smash on the ground. lol You can see the angle better in my video of the skateboarding dog print demo. Share your progress! I'd love to see your setup!

      Andrew Crooks Art Studio thank you so much man! It has help a lot! What size mesh you using as well? And for sure I’ll take some pictures and send them your way! Thanks for help man. I needed it haha! I’m trying to print on paper tubes. So unfortunately I can’t wipe it off. One shot for me.

    • @andrewcrooksartstudio967

      I'm using 200 mesh, but I've used up to 300 with no problems. I just want a really thick ink layer on my prints. So cool to connect

    What type of ink do you need to use? Does it air cure or need to be heated to cure?

    what length drawer slides did you use?

    • @andrewcrooksartstudio967
      @andrewcrooksartstudio967  6 років тому +1

      Technically they only need to slide the circumference of the cylinder you are printing; or rather, the width of the design you'd be printing. My drawer tracks are 3-section telescoping tracks, but I only use the sliding motion of one section when printing (so it makes a smooth, one-motion print) and it is about 8 inches of track motion. A 2-section track would be fine. This one was just the cheapest I could find. If the track slides 6-8 inches it's more than enough for printing a small design.
