To whoever doesn’t like this book, you’re 100% not the target audience because you’re probably waiting for the romance which is literally like a side plot.
EXACTLY. It was a super book. And there was romance ( more so in book 2 and 3 ) but there's more to it!
It's not just about the romance. I don't like this book mainly because the plot and politics were mediocre.
I wasn't really expecting romance but I was still disappointed. It was mid at best; the world building, the plot, the politics and the characters everything. I especially couldn't like Jude.

It was my first book about faerie world and the author did not provide enough world setup so first book was all over the place with names just thrown towards the reader without much explanation. That is one weak point that people ignore.

i think because you read mostly romance you was waiting for the romance in the 1st book but its not really a romance its more all about the fantasy which is why i loved it soooo much because i love fantasy so i think i appreciated the fantasy more so that when the romance got therre it was more of a shock. i love ur videos btw
I feel like we as fans of this book need to tell more people that romance is the sub-plot 😭 I came in, full on expecting an enemies to lovers and then I was getting mostly politics and I actually ADORED it. But at first, I was a bit on the cautious side. I was thinking "How in the world is she going to turn these two into lovers without it being a sort of unhealthy relationship? There's not a whole lot of development between these two."
I dunno. I think we just need to spread the word that there's more politics than romance at first. But still, it's an incredible trilogy and literally my favorite book series to this day.

finished the vid: we stan the taryn hate club. i love jude and cardan they're my fav and the reason i love the trilogy. i agree that some parts can get boring and too much inner dialogue than real dialogue/ action for all that is happening. but i think its bc its the first fantasy series i read that's why it has a special place in my heart. IM SO HAPPY U FINISHED IT
The queen of nothing is my favorite book on the series! I liked the previous both but I felt that the plot was so much more interesting, and the romance so cute! I couldn’t stop blushing every time cardan said “She is my wife” 🥹

Currently I hate him literally so much! He's such a monster! Even if gets better and nice, what he did to Jude was UNFORGIVABLE.

@@Mehrulikesart The thing is, Cardan and Jude are both not great people. And they both know that and they realise all the horrible things they did to each other and choose to move on from that. That's what makes their relationship so great.
i absolutely love this series but the problem is that people make it look like like a romance when it’s not. so people read it expecting romance and then get disappointed

Fr!! I was waiting for the romance the whole time and then realized the mc that everyone loves online is bullying her??? I wish they didn’t hype it up as a romance online probably would’ve made me like it MORE. But still i loved it and ate it up once i realized it isn’t mostly about the romance
@@farduusait’s not even an enemies to lovers, it’s more of a bully/victim dynamic. That changed when Jude gets control over him, after that it’s more enemies lovers. I hate that kind of thing, usually, but it didn’t bother me in this book, maybe because it wasn’t the central focus of the story, and because Jude actually stands up to him and everything

i’m reading the third book and I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! i don’t think i had any clue that this had romance but even all the political stuff had me super intrigued!! i love jude and cardan
last book was BY FAR the best
I loved this series, but what helped me was I looked up pictures of what they all looked like and what their kingdom/realm looks like as well. I love maps in books too, it helps give you a glimpse of where they are.
I have no plans of reading this series, I had no idea what you were talking abt YET I enjoyed every second of this reading vlog and ate up every single minute😂

it's so interesting to see your perspective and opinions of this series especially bc i felt the total opposite! since you didn't like the writing style and the politics of it all (which is most of the series’s plot), it makes perfect sense that you didn't love the series. i, myself, also personally find it hard to enjoy books when i don't like the author's writing style even with amazing plot and characters. a big part of why i loved this series is also bc of the characters and the setting. i loved jude and cardan and elfhame in general even if it's a pretty brutal place. so i totally understand why you said it wasn't for you. i'm glad you enjoyed the queen of nothing even just a little bit tho!!

this series is about family, politics, fantasy, self discovery, and romance. romance is not the primary genre AT ALL.

i haven’t finished the video yet but in case you don’t know there’s a “book” you’re supposed to read after the cruel prince and before the wicked king (book 1.5) wich is called “the lost sisters” (there’s no physical book of that, only online) and is just taryn’s pov of the cruel prince but it’s like 50 something pages and then there’s also another book (3.5) called “how the king of elfame learnt to hate stories” but neither of those are “main” books or like a “must read” because it’s still a trilogy but it’s a nice add to the stories

cause from where i bought these he said there's also a 4th book and charged me 29$
@@who_the123 hi! the stolen heir is a part of that world but not a part of the cruel prince story. it’s about Oak a few years later and i guess it connects with jude and cardan still but not a part of the cruel prince trilogy, it’s a different thing

I got into reading by reading fantasy and at first it was so hard for me to imagine all of the places mentioned, all of the scenes and characters, but the more fantasy books I read the easier it got for me to imagine everything in my head which made fantasy books a lot more enjoyable and easy for me. That way I love fantasy now and the cruel prince too because the way I imagined all the places and characters is so beautiful in my head (if that makes sense). That helped me a lot with fantasy ☺️

I'm so glad you said you had no idea what happened in the Wicked King because girl I could not tell you what happened in that book either and I thought I was the only one. Also I agree with you that there were times in the first and second books that it felt like I was reading a foreign language or that I was reading and not retaining anything. But the 3rd book made up for the other two, because it was just so much better and had a more interesting plot line.
This series will always have my heart I loved it and I dont think I'll ever be able to move on from these books.

I expected much more romance in this series as well but not gonna lie, I liked it very much and found it actually a pretty good way to get some rest from real romance (? you know what I mean lol) and the covers are soooo pretty! Especially the second and third - looking beautiful on the bookshelf even if you didn't like it that much 😌
Oh and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't necessarily understand all of the book as it's written in a... well, kind of different language 🥹

I love this series. Haven’t gotten to the end of the video, but if you didn’t look up the letters from Cardan to Jude, you should. They were so sweet.
I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK 😩 LIKE THE PLOT TWISTS AND EVERYTHING, JUDE IS SUCH A MASTERMIND.
Also, I agree. I just finished the second book and the first half was like boring and it disappointed me. I was expecting more bc people said that the books got better. But the last third of the book was so good, again with the plot twists, not as many as the first book but I LOVEDDD.
Now I'm waiting to pick up the thirb book to read

this is a fantasy book so if there’s a lot of fantasy then not romance, it is delivering what is promised not disappointing
I know literally nothing about this series and, honestly, I'm probably not ever going to read it, but going along the journey getting little snippets here and there and forming my own version of the story in my head was very fun
for those of you who wants to read this series, there are 2 things that you need to know/ understand before diving into these books.
1. the romance is a sub plot, so no there won't be romance until like almost the end of the first book. it is not the main story/ focus of this book so don't get your hopes up/ wait for the romantic scene to happen.
2. haley pham said this line that got me very hooked & intrigued to start reading the series. it is an enemies to lovers but they kept being enemies even when they've turned into lovers.
to me, the folk of the air series is an easy 5 star as a whole. the little romance is what makes these books soo addicting to read because you feel the yearning feeling of their moments but still very much focused on the whole politics bcs you'll never know what will happen to them. the plot twists are so good and unpredictable to me and i know everyone has said it but the wicked king is definitely my favorite out of the trilogy.

i loved this series and i love love cardan too and i rlly love jude too, shes a bit morally grey but thats the point kinda and i liked how when they became 'lovers' they still had their enemy banter. i adore the romance but it is very much a subplot so i think ppl need to stop recommending it as a fantasy romance because its more focused on like politics, you probably would have enjoyed this series more if you knew what to expect :(

I waited this whole week and spent it reading this series so i could watch your reading vlog! And here is my rating. The cruel prince: 3/5 stars. The wicked king: 3,5/5 stars. And the last book The queen of nothing was a five star for me. I loved the last book!

First book I loved but I’ve never read fantasy so I don’t have much to compare to. Second book I started and left unread for so long but it pained me to read considering how much I loved the first. I finished the second and was okay with it. Then I flew through the third book and was kinda obsessed again LOL. I understand why people don’t like it. Me personally, I liked the characters and overall liked the books. :)
