These are two of my absolute favorite parks in the nation, definitely both top 5. I didn’t get on Pantheon or Griffon at BGW but the beauty surpasses BGT and overall it’s nearly a tie. Bias has me choose Tampa but a revisit could change that.
I like your taste here. I don't put them as my top two in the country but I do have them both ranked above every Cedar Fair (yes that includes the two in Ohio) and Six Flags park. I personally put BGW above BGT and I rank Herschend's top two above BGT but they are all in my top 10. I love when a park can really be a well rounded immersive experience that feels like a true escape from the world around you and the Busch Gardens parks do that very well. Plus they all have excellent rides.
As a BGW rep (it's my local park) I have some words about Alpengeist. The whole point of Alpengeist is melt-you-to-your-seat intensity and that's why it's my favorite ride in the park (yes, even more so than Pantheon). I get that inverts are usually about snap but I really like super-intense coasters that don't let up and Alpengeist takes that cake in EVERY regard.
They're my two favorite theme parks. For a while, I preferred Busch Gardens Williamsburg more, but now I prefer Busch Gardens Tampa because of the animal exhibits, and they have two rides (Cheetah Hunt and Iron Gwazi to be exact) that are better than anything Busch Gardens Williamsburg has. It's still a very close call, though, as Busch Gardens Williamsburg is better with atmosphere and theming, and they still have lots of other great rides like Alpengeist and Griffon, among others. I should also note that I haven't been to Busch Gardens Williamsburg since 2013, so I've got a lot to catch up on after a future visit.
The city of Tampa has the City Pass where for $200 you get admission for the Tampa Zoo, BGT, Florida Aquarium, Tampa Museum, and a choice of 2 of 4 more attractions in the area.

Honestly Pantheon almost felt the same in the morning as it did later in the day. I loved it both times but I didn’t really feel much improvement throughout the day

For me BGW wins easily but I really love the atmosphere and theming at BGW so that plays a roll. I personally prefer Pantheon to Iron Gwazi though Iron Gwazi is obviously a lot more chaotic ride so if that's what you prefer then it'll be your favorite. But even putting that aside I really value a well rounded park experience over just great coasters so I think BGW would win anyway. And setting wise BGT can't compete with BGW. That said, BGT obviously wins when it comes to animal exhibits. And it is a well themed and good looking park so I'm not knocking it. And the coaster collections are fairly close so it's debatable which is better. And both parks have a lot to do. Also, Celtic Fyre blows away all of the entertainment at BGT.

I like a better sustained element than one that simply jerks you around. I find the elements on Pantheon to be more sustained and enjoyable than those of Iron Gwazi. That said, the wave turn is spectacular. And I do love Iron Gwazi. It is in my top ten but I still rank Pantheon above it.
i honestly feel so lucky to have bgw as my home park, i love it so much (my home park is technically supposed to be sfa but idc lol, bgw has been considered my second home for over a decade now, it's got a special place in my heart)
I have to respectfully disagree. I've been to both parks many times, and I always have a better time in Tampa. There's not a lot of difference in the coasters, they are all good. Just grading the parks, Tampa is better. There is also a lot to do in Tampa. Busch Gardens is not the only fun in town. There is literally a million ways to have fun in Tampa. Not to mention all the neighboring areas, like Orlando, which is only an hour away.
I prefer BGT. I believe their roller coaster lineup is better than BGW. They both have an elite roller coaster (Iron Gwazi vs Pantheon) and I prefer Iron Gwazi. Montu is easily better than Alpengeist, Griffon and Shiekra is a tie, along with Tempesto and Tigris. But where I really think BGT wins is with Kumba and Cheetah Hunt. Both of those rides are great and I believe Kumba is better than Apollo. Also , i like animals more than the European theme of BGW. Both parks are awesome though and I can’t recommend them enough.
I’m someone who lives in the piedmont region of VA (next to the area of where BGW is. BUT I went to the place where the tallest roller coaster of VA is (kings dominion) and I kinda really want to go to BGW more then BGT (probably I leave near it 💀) but griffin is my most anticipated ride ever
Revisit BGT in 2025 we should have a Giga by then also make it a 1-2 Punch and add a day at SWO too. Might as well splurge and visit the new Epic Universe a few months after it opens too. I feel like by 2030 if you can afford a pass for a family of 4 to both BGT/SWO and IOA/EU Florida will be a thrill seekers dream world. Also I live an hour west of BGT and the beaches are top notch in Pinellas County. Tampa Bay Rays getting a new Stadium in a few years. Downtown St Pete is growing at a massive rate and has a nice food scene too. Should have High Speed Rail by 2030 connecting Tampa to Orlando and even down to Miami so it will be easier for tourist to get around. There is a lot to do here trust me. BTW The Everglades, Gainesville and Jacksonville are swamp areas not Tampa.
Montu hasn’t been running the best the past year or so. It used to be so much better when they basically never turned the mid course brakes on and the trim brake before the batwing
What is it with all these people that are doing these reviews of Busch Gardens not telling you what the coaster at the beginning of the video which park it is in like instead of saying Superman at Darien Lake or Superman at Magic Mountain so you know right up front, I’ve noticed the gardens all of them do it where you don’t even know and they just expect you to know the name of the roller coaster
Go back to BGT after Phoenix rising is added. Now we have another coaster, adding to the collection. Not only that, but Serengeti flyer is the tallest and fastest swing ride in the world, making our flat rides better, and finally, you clearly don't know anything about tampa.
All I gotta say is there are so much things to do in Tampa! And it’s much more modern than Williamsburg. In Tampa you can go to armature works it’s like 15 minutes away from BGT. You can go to river walk that’s right next to armature works. There’s the STRAZ center where you can watch plays and lots of shows. There are A TON of places to do eat in Tampa. Also the escape rooms are chefs kiss. There’s the aquarium, also you can go to ice hockey (Lightnings) games or foot ball games (Buccaneers) and not rlly base ball bc that’s a lil further and not rlly in Tampa but not too far (Rays). Williamsburg on the other hand just has a lot of historical places and me personally I don’t thinks that’s too fun. There are fun trails ig but 100% in Tampa there are much more things to do. Maybe not EXACTLY where BGT is but everything fun is like 10 minutes to 30 minutes away from BGT and all in the Tampa area so yeah that should count.
U could also say the same for bgw. Norfolk, Newport news, and Virginia Beach are really close to the park, which are all large cities with many things to do.

Things to do in Tampa Bay when you don’t hermit in your hotel, thinking it’s a swamp based off of an idea you pulled out of your butt. The Beaches, Historic Ybor City, Clearwater Aquarium, annual 2 week long pirate festival called Gasparilla. Dolphin cruises, Cuban cigar makers in Ybor. Fishing is a religion here.
I think he meant they're close in terms of scoring, like which ones have the best atmosphere, rides, food, shows, operations, staff, etc. I don't think he was talking about distance.
Dude if you dont know anything about Tampa and the area, dont just guess. Do research. The Tampa area is awesome. Tampa has some really cool areas of the city and St Pete on the other side of the bay is great.
Bgt has the better ride lineup which i usually value most but bgt is run like crap I went during winter and all the ops were trash, consistent 3+ minute dispatches on gwazi with a 2 hour wait is not fun. I never really had a problem at bgw and in my opinion the atmosphere is a lot cooler there, so I’d give It to bgw.
It’s funny how opinions can differ so much lol. I love Alpengeist, though I think Montu is the better ride from what I hear, Alpengeist is still my favorite invert I’ve been on…but I’ve ridden Kumba, and that it was meh, and definitely would take Alpengeist over it. Apollos chariot is also my first hyper I’ve ever ridden, but it doesn’t compare to Nitro, Mako, and Candymonium (the other B&M hypers I’ve ridden). Cheetah Hunt was fun, but Pantheon looks like the better ride. My plan is to hit both these parks in 2024, excited to ride Montu and Pantheon finally.
I know it wouldnt have changed the outcome but BGT does have an S&S scream and swing now so theres q little more to do thank just falcons fury for flat rides.
Alpengeist Stan here... I will say without a doubt Montu doesn't even rank in my top 5 Inverts, I have 2 Batmen Clones, Raptor, Banshee, Afterburn, and Alpengeist over it. Montu is quite literally the most overrated coaster i"ve ever ridden and I found it to be NEARLY forceless.
Ok ok um busch gardens has a river rapids and a log flumes as the water rides and you dident count it? Even you gave a point to williamsburg with water rides. weird.
I love both of these parks, and have been to both parks, but I have to say. BGT is easily the better park. The coaster lineup is just elite. Each coaster is one of the best of its kind if not the best. The best B&M looper, invert, and one of the best dives. One of the best RMC’s easily, if not the best. A one of a kind, unique, but chill thrill coaster in Cheetah Hunt. And before scorpion just recently closed, it was glass smooth for its age and very fun! Also, the theming and and ride atmosphere, its integration with the park landscape was extremely impressive at BGT, more than BGW. There were trenches everywhere and you could see coasters flying passed you in tons of places at the park. Also, the animals at BGT were much cooler! They had so many awesome African animals and you could get very close to them. I still really love BGW though, A+ park, and I live much closer to it so I will be going back soon!
You should make an updated list since Tampa added the Serengeti flyers and the new Phoenix Rising. While Williamsburg got the new DarKoaster. Also, what do you mean there is nothing in Tampa it is not a swamp there is a whole city down there with St. Pete there is the Florida aquarium and the MLB, NHL, and NFL teams. Don’t forget to mention zoo Tampa, the nearby beaches, I’ve been to Williamsburg, and when I was there the only thing that was fun was the thing that was mentioned. Next time mention the animal selections as well at the parks.

My favorite one (so far) is BGT…since that’s the only BG I’ve been, but it’s my number one favorite Theme Park as of typing this. 😅

When BGW gets an S&S hyper or an RMC itll be better, but when BGT gets the intamin blitz, it’ll be pretty close again.

I think he meant they're close in terms of scoring, like which ones have the best atmosphere, rides, food, shows, operations, staff, etc. I don't think he was talking about distance.
Dude if you dont know anything about Tampa and the area, dont just guess. Do research. The Tampa area is awesome. Tampa has some really cool areas of the city and St Pete on the other side of the bay is great.
Bgt has the better ride lineup which i usually value most but bgt is run like crap I went during winter and all the ops were trash, consistent 3+ minute dispatches on gwazi with a 2 hour wait is not fun. I never really had a problem at bgw and in my opinion the atmosphere is a lot cooler there, so I’d give It to bgw.
It’s funny how opinions can differ so much lol. I love Alpengeist, though I think Montu is the better ride from what I hear, Alpengeist is still my favorite invert I’ve been on…but I’ve ridden Kumba, and that it was meh, and definitely would take Alpengeist over it. Apollos chariot is also my first hyper I’ve ever ridden, but it doesn’t compare to Nitro, Mako, and Candymonium (the other B&M hypers I’ve ridden). Cheetah Hunt was fun, but Pantheon looks like the better ride. My plan is to hit both these parks in 2024, excited to ride Montu and Pantheon finally.

Been going to Williamsburg since 1980 and love it . Would go more often if the 3.5 hour long drive from Maryland wasn't always 4bplus hours long .
I know it wouldnt have changed the outcome but BGT does have an S&S scream and swing now so theres q little more to do thank just falcons fury for flat rides.

Alpengeist Stan here... I will say without a doubt Montu doesn't even rank in my top 5 Inverts, I have 2 Batmen Clones, Raptor, Banshee, Afterburn, and Alpengeist over it. Montu is quite literally the most overrated coaster i"ve ever ridden and I found it to be NEARLY forceless.
Ok ok um busch gardens has a river rapids and a log flumes as the water rides and you dident count it?

I love both of these parks, and have been to both parks, but I have to say. BGT is easily the better park. The coaster lineup is just elite. Each coaster is one of the best of its kind if not the best. The best B&M looper, invert, and one of the best dives. One of the best RMC’s easily, if not the best. A one of a kind, unique, but chill thrill coaster in Cheetah Hunt. And before scorpion just recently closed, it was glass smooth for its age and very fun!
Also, the theming and and ride atmosphere, its integration with the park landscape was extremely impressive at BGT, more than BGW. There were trenches everywhere and you could see coasters flying passed you in tons of places at the park.
Also, the animals at BGT were much cooler! They had so many awesome African animals and you could get very close to them.
I still really love BGW though, A+ park, and I live much closer to it so I will be going back soon!
You should make an updated list since Tampa added the Serengeti flyers and the new Phoenix Rising. While Williamsburg got the new DarKoaster. Also, what do you mean there is nothing in Tampa it is not a swamp there is a whole city down there with St. Pete there is the Florida aquarium and the MLB, NHL, and NFL teams. Don’t forget to mention zoo Tampa, the nearby beaches, I’ve been to Williamsburg, and when I was there the only thing that was fun was the thing that was mentioned. Next time mention the animal selections as well at the parks.
