It's clear Allan's voice has matured in fact I saw an interview with him recently and he said just that when asked why he stopped, he clearly told the interviewer he didn't have the vocals anymore so he decided that was that and retired and wasn't sad about it ,big ups to Allan and the hollies, one of the best of the best In my opinion
One of the greatest bands to ever come out of the UK and should be put in the pages of musical history!! This band is amazing and their work history proves it all!!! We love you Hollies and thanks for the great music!!
The Original Iteration of The Hollies with Graham Nash were unbelievable and the Alan Clark version had 2 of my favorite songs ever This and He Ain't Heavy
My own view is/was graham leaving was a problem but if allan had left first then it would always have been a greater problem ie graham was replaceable.
This has got to be the best video by Allan Clarke he's so sweet and handsome and sexy love his ponytail and mustache singing is wonderful and refreshing
The original Hollies will always be The Hollies. Of course we cannot expect that their voices will stay the same. I am not a singer but I can see a great difference when I used to sing in the past and when I try to sing now.
Graham Nash voice at 82 is almost as intact as it was when he was a young man. But he is an exception. Can’t think of anyone else from that era that you could say that about. Possibly Cliff Richard would be a close second.
In good old Blighty, when a song is sung, it really doesn't matter if the key is dropped; this band always finds a way to open the door to our hearts ....
For all you people who say that the guy singing isn't Allan Clarke, well that is crap because it is him. There is a video of The Hollies singing The Woman I Love from 1993 and you will see that the singer in that video is the same person as the singer in this video. This was probably in the late 90's when Allan started having trouble with his voice. And the reason he doesn't look the same is because he has aged which is something that happens to all of us.
Love this video it's my favorite of my hero Allan Clarke he's so wonderful and talented so amazing and handsomest man I ever seen in my life he really knows how to captivate an audience
we all age...our bodies change...you can't expect someone to sing exactly the same after decades of performing. But Alan and the other bandmates have made their mark in music history.
@@steverogers2635 www.openmicuk.co.uk/advice/does-singing-voice-get-better-with-age/ Yes, voices do improve, but supportive techniques can help bridge problems that arise from injuries, etc. I suspect that the British Health Services may cheap out on this like they do other things. Traveling to get help may be prohibitive for Alan as a result.
@@b_uppyWhat a load of nonsense - well-trained voices can last longer with age but eventually the throat muscles weaken, and the vocal chords become less pliable and sustain wear and tear. Voices tend to deepen - the range shifts down so singers may gain a lower note or two and lose a couple at the top end. Lowering the key is no shame.
It is so sad to hear Allan straining as his voice fails him. I love him no matter what and I'm so glad he's doing Resurgence. He is an incredible artist and man.
Rather than lamenting what you call a “failing voice”, which apparently is enjoyed by thousands of live fans in the audience, celebrate the musicians and the music and the fact that they still got it and can make us smile and groove to their great talent and musical genius and still perform for their fans.
oooh - the allan-tony-alan lineup!!! wonderful, just love the music they did during this period! the hollies are like fine wine - they age - they get better! allan and bobby are so distinguished, and tony is still just plain hot!!! thnx, carole - kc
HOLLIES,,, THE GREATEST .. My Favorite Two British Invasion Bands of the 60's are the Hollies, and Gerry and the Pacemakers.. Great Singers and Musicians should not get old and Pass....
What do you mean WAS? Tony and drummer Bobby Elliott ( his brother-in-law, Bobby is married to Tony's sister Maureen) are still playing live with the Hollies today.
To all who say that Allan can't sing anymore on this movie: He sings better than most of todays singers who need autotune for every note they try to get out of their throat.... And, daily singing for over 30 years is not that good for your voice ;)
Yes no auto tune for Allan, great singer, The Hollies are one of our great bands to ever come out of the UK! He does sound a bit nasally here, maybe he was suffering a little from a cold?
Esse som marcou uma geração. Época que as músicas eram dificil dizer não gostei. Anos 70. 80. Surgiu belas bandas e até hoje essas músicas são aceitas até por jovens
Such a strange time in music, the old guard is still around everyone no matter what genre of music, played instruments and sang live for better or worse the industry has definitely changed
Whatever happened to such beautiful melody & vocal harmony in popular music. I don't wanna sound old fashioned but I just don't hear it in today's music.
Bus Stop was the first 45 RPM record I ever bought and that song is still holds an overwhelming wealth of great memories. Glad I found this one. Thanks for posting.
@penusenvy Allan Clarke will always be beautiful!!! As a young man in this video and believe that today too. Will never lose that look and that smile ... both enchants. I really enjoyed the your comment.
For me it was the voice first but then when I looked at Allan Clarke in the face I could clearly see as far as his eyes and rest of his facial features go that it was him. But, first, all I saw was the ponytail, and I remember thinking who's this.
Thank you Carole for posting this gem!! I'm in tears!!! Can Tony be more cute, gorgeous, beautiful, lindo, divino, precioso (sorry, I ran out of words in English) ???!!!! Thank you again, love from Argentina Andrea
Some VERY slick bass playing. And Bobby Elliott still has great drum chops. If you have a chance check out Phil Everly's covers of The Air that I Breathe and So Lonely. Thank you very much for posting this. Timeless
Allan Clark the soul of the Hollies no one can replace it
It's clear Allan's voice has matured in fact I saw an interview with him recently and he said just that when asked why he stopped, he clearly told the interviewer he didn't have the vocals anymore so he decided that was that and retired and wasn't sad about it ,big ups to Allan and the hollies, one of the best of the best In my opinion
Allan. He was the perfect Frontman for The Hollies, no matter what. Simply irreplaceable

One of the greatest bands to ever come out of the UK and should be put in the pages of musical history!! This band is amazing and their work history proves it all!!! We love you Hollies and thanks for the great music!!
More of a Tribute Band nowadays innit
I absolutely Love their album; that pays tribute to Buddy Holly. The Hollies are classy enough to know Rock and Roll didn't start with the Beatles.
Alan was such an amazing singer. Irreplaceable.
We just had the Best music back then. I never get tired of hearing these songs.
The handsomest man that ever graced a stage also love his voice and everything else he's got
This has got to be the best video by Allan Clarke he's so sweet and handsome and sexy love his ponytail and mustache singing is wonderful and refreshing

He can sing me to sleep anytime
I think Allan's voice sounds nice. Yes, it sounds different from his younger years, but, he sounds wonderful. Love this band!!
we all age...our bodies change...you can't expect someone to sing exactly the same after decades of performing. But Alan and the other bandmates have made their mark in music history.
Douglas Manson
He needs to see someone about that. Usually voices keep improving with age.
@@b_uppy Who told you that? Nothing improves with age. Check back with me in 30 years.

With out a doubt.
I'm captured my his voice looks and charm
Wow! Even when Allan Clarke has past his vocal prime, he still captivates me! No one could OWN "The Air That I Breathe" the way he does!
Holly Golightly
He needs to work on it. The arrangement is excellent, and the song needs him.
Amen x
Albert Hammond is a good performer of the air that I breathe too ;-)I,ve seen his original version twice!
Allan Clarke owns that song and that is his.
@@tessflores785 All I need is the EAR that I breathe

Wait...you forgot Mike Smith and the Dave Clark 5.
Allan gives me the shivers....just like he did when he was 22.
He commands the stage...what a stunner!!
By this time Allan's voice has changed, he was straining. I like the sound here, it's as beautiful as it was way back when.

Daily singing is VERY good for any voice. It's tobacco alcohol and other substance abuse that causes the vocal problems.
