Dianne, I have also been diagnosed with a very aggressive triple negative advanced metastatic breast cancer I pray for you sister of God. I'm not a big time holy roller however I do believe in God as he showed me something when I was 5 years old and since then I have followed him and been guided by him throughout my life I am 58 now I pray you have found the Lord if not I pray that you will seek him now. Hugs and prayers and much love to you Diane 🙏♥️🙏💕
What a band and a great singer. This song still brings a tear to my eye and I remember my brother who was born with spina bifida. He was given six weeks to live so mum and dad brought him home to be with his family. His family and his determination kept him alive for 12 years. He could not feed himself, walk or talk. No control over bodily functions but still managed a smile for those that cared for him. For 12 years he either laid on his bed or someone cradled him. He loved to go for a drive in the car when he was placed on a bed in the back of the family station wagon, he always new he would get an icecream at the end of the journey. He was not heavy or a burden on his family he was my brother, and I will never forget him.
Love your story, so touching sir! I have many physical ailments and problems now in my age being 52 now and i know my own father who is 72 is my big brother also who feels that i am not too heavy for him since he has taken care of me so Much after going through four different surgeries on my right ankle and knee and this song really speaks volumes to me of the great example of being Christ like he has shown me all these past 14 years. Thanks for your post here
My 2 brothers and i drove far away to a ranch in Rosarito, Mexico, up in the mountains, we were in our 20's i already had two children that i took with me. The restrooms were outside in a hole with a little roof...water needed to be carried from a well down the hill. It was to help my brother Rodolfo to clean from using morphine. My older brother Benjamin carried him to the restroom on his back at anytime Rodolfo needed to go..he was weak and was not able to walk...i asked my brother Benjamin, isn't he too heavy for you (Benjamin was also tiny) he responded to me, no, I'll do it, he is my brother. God i cry everytime i hear this song. My mom was already gone. And it was a successful trip Rodolfo is now 67 , Benjamin is 70 and me 64. Lord is great, ❤
My brother struggled all his adult life with anxiety and depression,he wanted out many times. I tried many times to help as did my brother's and sisters, this song is it for me, he has just died from heart attack 65, what a struggle mate
Lost my brother to suicide in 2014. I can remember way back in 1981, he had a beautiful Ford car and we were driving back home to Cape Breton from Edmonton, and this song came on and he was singing it to his friend in the front seat, pointing to me in the backseat. Brings tears to my eyes now to hear this song.
I am too I had so much fun and partly my ass off. Not to many worries and it was one of the best time live in I would not want to be all you 30's. I am 61 and I remember alot of my child and my teenage years May we all get of this mess. And if we don't I will go down fighting for my rights and will not take them away from me.
I was homeless and found an apartment. For four months I slept on the streets and nearly died. One day I heard this song along the way and broke down crying. A man gave me two-hundred dollars cash. He walked away and this song chronicles that whole experience. It is one of the greatest tales of caring about someone regardless of color, class or anything.
My brother is 10 years older than me and he served in Vietnam. Needless to say, when he came back home, his life was not easy. Both of our parents died when I was a baby and he was a 10 year old little boy. My aunt and uncle raised all 6 of my siblings along with there 8 children so we are truly blessed. I am so thankful that inspite of all of my brother's short comings, I chose him as my best man in my wedding. My brother suffered from a stroke and kidney failure when he was 45 years old. I was there for him every step of the way. His burdens weren't too heavy for me because he's my brother! Tears are flowing from my eyes now as I listen to this song of my childhood because I'm still missing my dear brother who got his wings in the year 2000. He was an amazing and extremely kind man and he really loved his little brother as much as I loved him ❤️. Rest peacefully Herman!! 🙏🏾
My younger brother had a lot of health issues. This was my song when I gave him a kidney. He lived 3 years and finished his 1962 Pontiac and his pall bearers were in it behind the hearse at is funeral. I still miss him and cry when I hear this song. Curtis was 42 when he went to heaven in 1999. I can still see that silly little grin of his!
I listen to it all the time and makes me think about my brother Kevin who was my heart and my soul he died of an alcohol overdose this song always makes me think of him
💞 Ur not alone , it's so hard ..one day At a time.. . I can't say I am doing any better n it's been 4 mont but U gotta keep going💪 I wish you the best 💞 from Australia xx
I'm so sorry for your loss, I have lost all three of my brothers first in '04,'07and '13 I still miss them terribly. Absolutely nothing like a brother♥️
This song brings a tear to my eyes. My oldest son carried his younger brother Into the ER, we are all praying for him to pull through. His name is Ryan and he needs every prayer he cab get, put him in and your prayers. Help him pull through. Thanks for reading this and the prayers Rick
It has been a very terrible one year for me. Lost both my parents in 13 months. Now my brother was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I love my brother. This song brings tears in my eyes. A timeless masterpiece!!
Thank you for this song and its message! One never knows how desperate a stranger's call out for help can be. I prefer to save a life over harming a life by negligence and/ or misjudgement. A simple act of kindness can change a person's life, and add value and worth to one's own.
I've been a foster carer for my little half-brother for 10 years. He's in his teens now and can be very challenging. People sometimes tell me that I've done enough for him and to live my own life. But I'll never give up on him. He's starting to do really well now. He does well at school, he has a part time job which he works hard at. It's been worth it to me. One day he will appreciate it and we will be good friends. I love him like he's my own son.
Thank you for inspiring me .. i too do the same for 3kids .. yes sometime it could be tuff . But like you said throwing in the towel is not in me . I will continue to fit them in my plans so they shine one day . 👊 🤛
I am sure he loves and respects you now but not know how to express it always remember they don’t need you as a friend they need a parent big difference sounds like you have that figured out god bless
So my dad passed away leaving me behind with 4 brothers and 5 sisters. I'm the first born and quite overwhelmed of caring, providing for them. Talking about perfect timing, I heard this song for the first time and it brought me to tears. I told myself they ain't heavy. 20 years later we're all grown ups now and the youngest is still in college. How fast time flies.
Look up the video of this with the lyrics where it shows all these children playing together that you can tell are brothers and sisters. It's a tearjerker.
This world has drifted so far away from genuine brotherly love and compassion. We need songs like these now more than ever. This song still grabs my heart and causes me to tear up.
I lost my younger brother in 2007.He had been dealing with drugs and alcohol for a long time. My family didn't have the patience to try to help him, but I was always there for him, no matter what. He finally decided it was time to quit and was in a rehab when he passed . We were on an outing together when it happened. After his death I was using music to help with my grief and found this song. I took it as my tribute to him.I play it quite often when I am thinking of him .
Buenisima cancion de epocas de oro y otras màs que nunca pasan de moda por lo tanto y la deleitan las nuevas generaciones. Felicidades a la red por su musica
Well sir serving as a junior apprentice at Worthy Down in 1979 the English knocked the shyte out of me everytime a goal was scored during the England v Scotland game at Wembley and there were 4 goals scored!!!!. None of the English nation were ever my brothers and never ever will be.THIG AR LATHA
Allan Clarke , an incredible voice. This song is an absolute classic by the Hollies. The words and everything in this song , bring back memories of a kinder, caring more community orientated world. Simply beautiful.
Back then we thought we could make the world a kinder, more gentle place. Now it seems a so-called leader is hell-bent to drive us down to the depths. Bring back these songs of brotherhood and peace. How about Peace Train, People Get Ready, Imagine, If I Can Dream, Put a Little Love In Your Heart.
I lost my brother in 2004 he was just 41, we played this at his funeral. He was the best brother. Too sensitive for this world, the kind of person we need more of, he was so kind ,so caring. It hurts as much now as it did then. I miss you stu. X
I`m so sorry for the lost of you brother I can relate I lost my brother too he was not only my brother he was my twin and we use to sing this together.
U ain't wrong ... Just unfortunate that some people struggle to see clearly until it's too late, remember where you came from and that even if someone's lifestyle is a "different scene" remember it's just different from what uv seen , hate to quote ss.
Probably should take it on board now more than ever. It is difficult, though. I have a relative who is a total anti-vazzer and aggressive with it. I have another relative whom I have so loved who has blasted out of the water as a scummy racist for having voted leave. Now we are at some sort of crossroads of humanity and I have lost both. (Forgiveness is not there without understanding you have wronged.)
Lost my brother 51 years ago . He was murdered and to this day we don’t know who or why just how. It was a horrible time for my family especially a few a few months before this happened my wife gave birth to my son . He was my sons godfather and he always thought I would not pick him to be the godfather . I told him you were my best man , my best friend and you will be my sons godfather . I miss him so much and sometimes it still haunts me because he died the day before my 1st wedding anniversary . I was so proud of my little brother and to this day I miss him so freaking much .
I'm so sorry for your loss.! We'll carry him to a better place. As a firefighter, we played this song in happy and sad times. Because when a brother falls, we'll stop for nothing to pick him up. I'll gladly put your brother on my shoulder. May he rest peacefullly.😢
I lost my older brother a year ago from Covid, 2 months after his 60th birthday. We were only a year and 5 days apart. I was his shadow growing up. Went almost everywhere with him, his friends and girlfriend. He paved the way for our love of music. I sure miss him. Rest in peace brother, I really do miss you. Love, your little shadow. ❤😪
so sorry for your loss. Your post made me cry. We had this song at my brother's funeral. It's an amazing song, so emotional..My brother was 16months younger than me. It's so hard to lose a close sibling.x
WELL I CAN RELATE LOST MY BROTHER IN 2005 I MISS HIM AND THE REST OF MY FAMILY IS DECEASED MY OTHER TWO SIBLINGS AND PARENTS I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME ANYMORE ....!!!
When I did Basic Training in 1977, during PT we were taking turns carrying our partners with the fireman’s carry. One of our instructors said “he ain’t heavy, he’s your brother” which we thought was humourous at the time. Little did I realize that decades later I would be the one to help a guy I did Basic with battle PTSD. This song means way more to me today than it did back then. He’s a great guy and we went through a lot together…he’s my brother, not biologically but by choice.
When I was 20yrs old just gave birth to my second son abandoned by my husband, there stood children service trying to sign away my baby for adoption, he was a beautiful baby, child service had a social worker who wanted him bad, my sister played this song knowing how much I listened to music, I gave her the paper back said I can raise my kids, now grown up, he is a wonderful Christian, good father, husband&son this song woke me up, i am so glad that my sister played this, I grew up that day and never regretted my decision
Dee, I'm so sorry that you lost your brother, when David disappeared ( in Nevada) we thought he was dead. We found him at last, and I thank God that we were lucky. Love doesn't disappear, I feel sure that your brother still knows that he is loved. What more can any one of us ask, to be Loved.
I know how you feel I lost my brother about 5yr ago . He drank his self to death. He was only 47 yrs old. So when people say let's go have a drink. that's how it starts 1 drink at a time. Miss my brother. RIP
I wish so much that I’d played this for my brother.. I’d just lost my son and they both were buried a week apart.. I really wasn’t in my right mind, I sometimes listen to this and I hope he knows how much I loved him xxx
This is a very healing song for me. I was wounded in Vietnam and when I play I think of my brother Leroy Crabtree helping me in return. It is also a theme of my regiment the Wolfhounds, no soldier left behind.
My dad fought in the Korean War got a bronze star and would never talk about his two tours lost one brother but he and his twin made it home I have strong feelings about men who have served to keep me safe thank you from all of my heart like my dad and uncles you are my hero
I GAVE ONE OF MY BROTHERS MY LEFT KIDNEY IN 1992” HE PASSED AWAY in 1996 . 4YEARS TO THE SAME DAY I GAVE IT TO HIM 4YEARS EARLIER. THIS SONG KEEPS ME CONNECTED TO HIS LOVING SOUL. R*I*P JOSE JESUS PIÑEIRA 🙏🏼☮️❤️✌🏼👊🏼💪🏼❤️🔥🐇☝🏼🦶🏼🧠3️⃣💦💙👉🏼😎
I lost my older brother 2 years ago in November to lung cancer I miss him so much. He actually died on my.birthday ‘. I was fortunate enough to visit him the Sunday prior and we had a lovely chat and I got his photo album and took him down memory lane which he certainly appreciated. His wish was to live his last days at home with his wonderful wife and other family on his wife’s side. The hospital that he had been attending lent the family a hospital bed for as long as he needed it which was made his last few days very comfortable. This song was played at the funeral first and was so applicable and set a celebration mood for the whole service so Thank you to to the HOLLIES as the day was shared in a happy way
2022 and this song still stands as of the greatest that sends a message to everyone...if we care for one another and share each other burden light or heavy this world would be a better place...never listen to this song without getting teary eyes...great message to meditate on
sigo escuchando esta hermosa canción, hoy , 02 de enero 2022 !!!!!👏👏👏, que tiempos aquellos no volverán jamás sino en nuestras mentes de haberlo vivido...🇨🇱
This was played at my brother's funeral, February 27, 2023. I will always be with him whenever I hear this song. You aint heavy Victor Johnson you're my brother
Played this at my brothers funeral also, I was 71 his sister this song meant everything to me, I couldn't carry him to his grave but this song helped me through it. Love and miss you lad (Joe)
My father was a drunk who beat my mother and took off when i was 15 and he died alone, pneumonia was the official reason but really the booze did him in. He sort me out and came into the sports bar i was working at and tried to say sorry, i was 21-22 and so angry at him and basically threatened to knock his head off. That was the last time i saw my dad. I'm 37 and iv'e been married for 11 years now and have 2 kid's of my own, i can understand some of the pressures he faced by having to provide for a family. I'm sorry dad i can't forgive you for what you did, but i'm also sorry i didn't give you chance to talk to me and even though you were not the best i should have been the better man and let you have your say. Thank you stranger for reading my written thought.
regardless, he was your dad, not be choice, i feel for you and i hear you, but this has nothing to do with brotherly love. May you find peace and solace, life does go on on
my mother was a drunk who ran off with another man, my dad kept us together, we had aunts and grandma... hard knock life and my 39-year-old son just died
I hope that you will let go of any burden of guilt or regret. The fact that you have written what you wrote about your father and your family struggle, indicates that you learned from the worst part of your life. Even if you had listened to your father that night it may not have changed anything about either of your lives but the fact that it makes you more tolerant of the stresses you have as a father means that he basically named you Sue. I hope you understand and have a chuckle at my reference to the Johnny Cash song. Your words were a gift to me tonight & living a happy life is the best gift you can give to both of your parents.
I miss my brother, he was killed in a felony hit & run in '85 and the killer has never been arrested. Every Feb 5th I play this song and shed a few tears because we have been through a lot like many of you. Thank you Hollies!!!!!!!!!
+Vivian Tanis I know your pain, I lost my brother to ,,I play this song a lot,,I never want to lose that love I feel for him ,its the strongest love ever.
In 1985,I got dropped off by a Cop in a remote area, at night, and was hit by a driver who kept on going, thrown down side of a 2lane highway. I almost died. Was laid up for a year. You have my sympathy. Where did it happen to your brother ,if I may ask ?
Oh wow, Vivian..... I can only imagine the emptiness in your heart that you must feel. However wonderful that we have music that can assist in some of the healing......
This song has matured and kept going forever and ever and it means so much to so many people even now in 2023. Thank you so much for the song and all the people that needed it at the time throughout the years.
Both my brother and I were active-duty Marines, although he was a year older than me, I knew when his time drew near, that I'd be there for him, and I was. RIP brother, we'll see each other again....❤
As a kid growing up in the seventies I didn't understand why adults would tear up or leave the room when they heard this song play now that I'm old and gray I understand . Life is a long and windy road with no return .
amen, brother...reminds me of this quote: “In a moment someone will get up and turn on the light. Then the old folks will remember the children and they won’t talk anymore that day. And when light fills the room, the child is filled with darkness. He knows that every time this happens he’s moved just a little closer to that darkness outside. The darkness outside is what the old folks have been talking about. It’s what they’ve come from. It’s what they endure. The child knows that they won’t talk any more because if he knows too much about what’s happened to them, he’ll know too much too soon, about what’s going to happen to him.” ― James Baldwin, Sonny's Blues
WRONG!!!!! "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is a popular music ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. Originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969, the song became a worldwide hit for The Hollies later that year and again for Neil Diamond in 1970.
Quite a few for me: Reflections of My Life, Every Time You Walk in the Room, Pamela, Pamela, Love Potion Number Nine, Always Something There to Remind Me, Working in a Coalmine, Ready for Love, Ma Cherie Amour, You Don't Have to say you Love me, Respect, Silence is Golden, Something, Bad Moon Rising, Heroes and Villains, Midnight Hour. I could go on listening, probably all night but I have work in the morning.
The Hollies! Man, they never had a bad song, ever! How I wish I could jump back to that time. I know if there is a Rock & Roll Heaven, all these guys will be there and I hope to see them as well! Thanks for the memories! ❤
The Hollies are one of the most under-rated bands ever. Allan Clarke has such a great voice. And Tony Hicks is such a gifted guitarist. They all have great voices. Just wonderful and they get better with time…❤❤❤❤
This song came out soon after I returned from Vietnam and reminded me of the "brothers" I left behind as we were all brothers. A very sad and deep song.
@@cherieheide4587 the same for me. Lost my brother 3 years ago after a lifetime of battling his demons. I miss him everyday of my life. But my heart knows he's free.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
Yep, year long lockdown; old music keeping me sane, and tearful for my youth, of which this is a part. Musical memories are the last to leave you, I do believe.

FOR SURE BEST SONG EVER .THIS SONG SAYS IT ALL ABOUT ALL OF OUR BELOVED BROTHERS ♥. I am so Lucky to Have a Great Great Brother. He is my best friend ❤.
I agree and have not heard this song in a long time but stumbled upon it …so fitting for the world we are moving into where we are coming together and assisting in the healing of humanity! The shift is real ….

The best song ever by the Hollies IMO. From early 1970, I was a senior and would hear this on the radio of my 64 Bug. The heat worked ,too. Life was so very good then!
My bro in law died in the line of duty. At his funeral were law inforcement from all over the country. This was the song that was played. Not a dry eye in the house. Rest in Peace Danny
This year 2024 on April, right on my birthday I lost my younger brother to cancer. We were very close and whenever I am down and in the deep, he is always there for me. Then he would always spin this song for me. Oh God how I really really missed him.
I think of my dad with this song. He passed away 18 months ago. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and he knew that soldiers have a brotherhood in war time.
Heard this on the radio today while driving and felt the tears straightaway. Lost my lovely sister earlier this year - really thought I was coping, but such is the emotive power of music on grief ... To anyone who has lost a loved one, particularly a sibling and that unique bond, I feel your pain 💔
My mom was so comforted by you all she was so quiet about her illness but shared this thread with me just before she died thank you all you gave her comfort and peace especially Gary Seper Fi
My brother Andrew died tragically 13 years ago and although we had a lot of bickering and fights over his 45 years, we were family and that endures over the passing of time and he is always with me as I travel onwards in life. 1964-2009
Thinking of my beautiful little sister..who I lost in a tragic accident..i miss her terrible...the pain is always there..nearly two years ...forever in my heart... :(
LYRICS: The road is long With a many a winding turn That leads us to who knows where Who knows where But I'm strong Strong enough to carry him He ain't heavy, he's my brother So on we go His welfare is of my concern No burden is he to bear We'll get there For I know He would not encumber me He ain't heavy, he's my brother If I'm laden at all I'm laden with sadness That everyone's heart Isn't filled with the gladness Of love for one another It's a long, long road From which there is no return While we're on the way to there Why not share And the load Doesn't weigh me down at all He ain't heavy, he's my brother He's my brother He ain't heavy, he's my brother He ain't heavy, he's my brother
I remember when I was in middle school I was in the car with my girlfriends, and this song came on the radio for the first time and we all hurry to turn it up and just listen at the end of this song we were going out knew we were buying this recordAlan Clark is absolutely incredible. I love the beginning when he plays a harmonica and especially when they all jump in together, this song is timeless. It will live long in the mind of men.
Hey Terry, sorry for your loss. We played this song as I carried my youngest brother at his funeral 2 years ago and It makes me feel close to him when I listen to it! At the time I felt life was worthless but as time goes on you find things to keep you going! Be strong rest in peace RON !
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my brother (my only sibling and also my best friend) to COVID almost 2 years ago. I miss him every day. He taught me to appreciate a wide variety of music. This song and many like it bring up memories of him.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
I lost my brother to suicide in 2008, seems like yesterday. I always wanted to dance at my wedding with him to this song. never got married but I did tell him I love him and was worried about him the day before his schizophrenia life altering event.love you Lenny
So sorry for your loss Cherie My cousin lives with Skitzophrenia it's not nice .And a gentleman at my old workplace his mum has it He stood up spoke bravely about this illness. A room full of women we burst out crying. Cherish the memories that's all you can do really Extremely difficult
That is so sad. I have had many losses in my life. I don't know if I will ever be over some of them. It is hard. He is in your heart. He will always be with you. It is nice that your brother was your hero. So many people spend their lives apart. Not thinking that someday their family and friends wont be with them. You two had the love. Hopefully others will read your comment and think and want to make the effort to spend time with their family. There's too much fighting that goes on. There needs to be love.
DENNIS BLOMMQUIST it sure would be worth a try. Especially after this election with lies flying and so much hatred....I'm so fatigued from the venom and hate of this man who has nothing to offer but negativity and division,
Add the fact that religion and politics cause more problems between people when they refuse to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe someone thinks and believes in things differently than you.
Mr. Ford, if you really paid attention to the lyrics, there is no mention of religion or politics. Mr. Blommquist is pointing out that if people acted with compassion towards others, and gave them a helping hand when they needed it, the world would be better off. You don't have to be religious to be caring and compassionate. if you're only interested in helping people who think and believe the things that you believe in, you're not really compassionate at all, just prejudiced!
+Luke Carrol Hi! Your brother needs your love more than ever, you know...Please don't let yourself forgetting him (meaning forgetting to write letters etc...)and I hope that he's not locked up for the rest of his life. If so, well, he still need you, your love and probably few buck now 'n then...God bless...
Ellen, David lives in Ireland now, our home Country. Sounds to me you understand what it is to have a loved one in prison. God bless you love. I know how it is to have a broken heart.
I am dying of terminal cancer but my brothers are everything to me this song makes me wish they know how much they mean to me. Love you bros.

I have many physical ailments and problems now in my age being 52 now and i know my own father who is 72 is my big brother also who feels that i am not too heavy for him since he has taken care of me so
Much after going through four different surgeries on my right ankle and knee and this song really speaks volumes to me of the great example of being Christ like he has shown me all these past 14 years. Thanks for your post here
I don't think I will forget your brother either after reading your amazing words above Peter. He's with the Creator now.
Cheers. Thank you for your thoughts.
God bless you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear that, i hope you're doing well. I'm sure he's at peace now.

❤
God was with you that day my friend 😊
Man - what a story - brilliant and well done
I hope you are doing well now and have your own roof above you. homelessness is a curse. prayers for you.

RIP Herman .. your brother loves you Herman 😭
Don't ever look down on someone unless you are trying to help them up
Are you old enot
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ Love you ❤️
My younger brother had a lot of health issues.
I'm still listening to this masterpiece in 2020 who's with me??
I listen to it all the time and makes me think about my brother Kevin who was my heart and my soul he died of an alcohol overdose this song always makes me think of him

This world has drifted so far away from genuine brotherly love and compassion. We need songs like these now more than ever. This song still grabs my heart and causes me to tear up.

This is one of the great songs. Nothing great these days. But at least we have hope and these old great songs of course.

My friend of 45 yrs. died and I dedicated this song to him.

So true
Probably should take it on board now more than ever. It is difficult, though. I have a relative who is a total anti-vazzer and aggressive with it. I have another relative whom I have so loved who has blasted out of the water as a scummy racist for having voted leave. Now we are at some sort of crossroads of humanity and I have lost both. (Forgiveness is not there without understanding you have wronged.)
Absolutely!

As a kid growing up in the seventies I didn't understand why adults would tear up or leave the room when they heard this song play now that I'm old and gray I understand . Life is a long and windy road with no return .
great said!
amen, brother...reminds me of this quote: “In a moment someone will get up and turn on the light. The child knows that they won’t talk any more because if he knows too much about what’s happened to them, he’ll know too much too soon, about what’s going to happen to him.”
― James Baldwin, Sonny's Blues

Not that many songs that bring us oldies back to the sixties, but this is probably one the best ones.
There are probably not that many songs because this song came out in the 70s, not the 60s.
WRONG!!!!! "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is a popular music ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. Originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969, the song became a worldwide hit for The Hollies later that year and again for Neil Diamond in 1970.
***** WRONG!!!!!!!
Does it really matter 60's/70's ,still iconic.

Hi Mary
The best song ever by the Hollies IMO. From early 1970, I was a senior and would hear this on the radio of my 64 Bug. The heat worked ,too. Life was so very good then!
I am 73 and still listening to this masterpiece, they done make make such songs anymore
Listening in 2021 and this still sounds as sweet and clear as it did back in the day, maybe more so, I have learned the real value of the words
Amen to that. Hit me hard when i finally listen to it again
Yes! Thank you!
when I saw your comment I felt exactly the same way, thanks to you.
Me too. 2021
Yep me too!
There's always someone listening to this song like me.
👍

One of the greatest songs ever written and performed to perfection by this great group - it will never get old
Hello Linda, how are things going with you?
I think of my dad with this song. He passed away 18 months ago. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and he knew that soldiers have a brotherhood in war time.
Heard this on the radio today while driving and felt the tears straightaway. Lost my lovely sister earlier this year - really thought I was coping, but such is the emotive power of music on grief ... To anyone who has lost a loved one, particularly a sibling and that unique bond, I feel your pain 💔
I would give anything to have my Late brother back. This song kills me every time. Love you bro.
IT NEVER GETS ANY EASIER, SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.
I've lost all my brothers. I'm the only one left. Can't stop crying..
Gosh, man, right in the heart. My prayers for you and your late brother, friend.
I am the same , death has made our bond stronger , god bless you my brother.
Me too
Tragic motorcycle accident
I cry every time I hear this song, and I'm crying now.....

Life is just so short, make the most of what you have, and love everyone and have no regrets.
Same here: my two brothers.
Me too.
My mom was so comforted by you all she was so quiet about her illness but shared this thread with me just before she died thank you all you gave her comfort and peace especially Gary Seper Fi
Godbless angel may you sleep at peace in eternal rest good night godbless love ❤ 🙏😔❤
Let blessings shower upon your mother and you all.
+Norma Rojas take the positives from your situation and carry on.
You're so strong and compassionate I'm sure she still appreciates that now. She still feels your love.
LYRICS:
The road is long
With a many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
Thanks. Was always familiar with the song but listening to it without the lyrics made it impossible to understand.

For my brother who died unexpectedly this past Tuesday. This song is even more special now.💙U Ron
Hey Terry, sorry for your loss.
We played this song as I carried my youngest brother at his funeral 2 years ago and It makes me feel close to him when I listen to it!
At the time I felt life was worthless but as time goes on you find things to keep you going! Be strong rest in peace RON !
Sorry for your Loss Terry . Cherish the memories together
My deepest condolences on your loss.
This was played at my brothers funeral sooooo very sad xxx
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my brother (my only sibling and also my best friend) to COVID almost 2 years ago. I miss him every day. He taught me to appreciate a wide variety of music. This song and many like it bring up memories of him.
This song must rank as one of the most inspirational songs of all time especially when sung with such intensity by Alan Clark.God bless You.
Didn't know this song until i recently learned that it was my Uncle's favorite, He recently passed away.
My brother died when he was 49 and this song hits so hard even now that many years had passed. I miss you so much, Kuya❤️❤️❤️
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
Hi how are you
I lost my brother to suicide in 2008, seems like yesterday. I always wanted to dance at my wedding with him to this song. never got married but I did tell him I love him and was worried about him the day before his schizophrenia life altering event.love you Lenny
Hello Cherie, how are things going with you?
So sorry for your loss Cherie
My cousin lives with Skitzophrenia it's not nice .And a gentleman at my old workplace his mum has it
He stood up spoke bravely about this illness. A room full of women we burst out crying. Cherish the memories that's all you can do really
Extremely difficult
Hello.. Cherie
I lost my older brother.
He was 33...it was 1984...
I still mourn the loss...
He was my hero ❤❤❤
That is so sad. I have had many losses in my life. I don't know if I will ever be over some of them. It is hard. He is in your heart. He will always be with you. It is nice that your brother was your hero. So many people spend their lives apart. Not thinking that someday their family and friends wont be with them. You two had the love. Hopefully others will read your comment and think and want to make the effort to spend time with their family. There's too much fighting that goes on. There needs to be love.

To my brother , Desmond. I lost him last December and this song speaks to the relationship we had. I miss you big brother.
I remember my brother Vincent passed away , I dedicate this song for you brother,,,
If the world sat down and listened to the words of this song, maybe, just maybe there'd be no ,more problems in this world.
that would be really nice but remember you're talking about human beings
DENNIS BLOMMQUIST maybe if 90% of the planet wasn't completely PTSD and involved in some cult.
We lost my Brother, found him at last in an English prison. I wrote to him always playing this song. Reminds me, love one another. Never stop loving

Thank you for your reply, thankfully he's served his time, and no legal problems since.
Totally agree with your post. Best wishes
Ellen, David lives in Ireland now, our home Country. Sounds to me you understand what it is to have a loved one in prison. God bless you love. I know how it is to have a broken heart.
It's 18.5 years but my bro and I used to sing this (he only sang when he was drunk lol). I carried his coffin and he wasn't heavy - miss my big bro!!!
