Oh my goodness!! What a fun fun day. I wanted to get around that jetty so bad when I was there. However, I did have several good days shelling Marco south end and tiger tail. Makes me want to come back so bad. Thank you again for 1.). Sharing your locations. A lot of ppl will not tell. 2.). Taking us along on your shelling adventures. We have learned so much from you. ☺️🐚 🌊☀️
I have so much fun doing what I'm doing and if I can help others learn about what they're finding or help them find the best spots to get out there and search, my job is done. There is so much to learn from the beach! 🌴🌊🐚
I just want to say you do the best beach & shell walks! You have a lovely voice & treat the beach & it’s inhabitants with such kindness. You make me feel like a friend who has come for a visit & I want to thank you for having me.
Awww that is so darn sweet! And I kind of talk in my videos like we're friends don't I? Well, I think we're all beach friends so please know I'm happy to have the company!
The spiny jewel box that was hinged is stunning! And so were the juvenile Florida fighting conches! After watching you and one other Shell collector near Navarre and Pensacola where I grew up but left as a teenager with my family. I broke out my box of shells I didn’t realize I didn’t hardly know any of their names now I know most of them! Thanks to you and The Beach Bumming Dad! 💕💕WV
Wow! What a great hunt. So much fun. I gotta go there one day. I love, love, love the juvenile fighting conchs. They are so beautiful! And that hinged spiny jewel box was amazing! Thx for taking us along. 🤗🐚🐚🐚🐚
I can watch hours of your beautiful walks. Seeing at the end of the video how many shells you had was amazing!! I loved that you found the Spiny Jewel Box that was still hinged and it’s spines were long. That was super cool!! Loved the Sharks Eyes and Gaudy Nautica but I loved them all so much. What a beautiful day for a beautiful walk with a beautiful lady!! Thank you. It was great!!😊🐬
I was so sad I had to leave so quickly - I could have stayed there all day! I'm looking forward to going back to that area and exploring some of those island with my kayak!
Love the sound of the waves coming in, sounds and feels so peaceful and relaxing. How fortunate you are to have the privilege of enjoying and living in this area and the fun of collecting all of those seashells. Beautiful!
Thank you again Sharmon for an incredible video. I very much enjoy coming along on the beach walks with you! Hmm I really enjoy seeing many of the shells but especially the gaudy nauticas. They seem really rare to see. Wish I can obtain one of my own. Marco Island is so pretty and with any luck I will get to see it. Sharmon thanks again and keep the videos coming!
I do hope you get to go there one day. This is a great place to shell, but I really love the North end of the island - Tigertail and the nice long walk to nowhere!
Thanks for part two of your Marco Island secret shelling spot! So fun to see you find all those gorgeous shells! Love tagging along on your beach walks!
What spectacular treasures! The juvenile fighting conchs were out of the park! Love coming on your adventures….. best relax time I get watching you shell 🐚
BEAUTIFUL!! It's amazing how just around the corner, the shells can be so different. Do you know when Marco Island will have negative low tide again? I'll be there this Wednesday and Thursday. After being in Florida for 3 months, we leave to go home next week. I would love a great Marco Island shelling day.
Low tide Wednesday is 3:58am and on Thursday it's 4:46am. The tides don't always cooperate! You can go to Tigertail Beach and give the North end of the beach a try. I tend to have better luck on the North end unless it's a negative low tide and I can get around those jettys.
This video was making me nervous because I was afraid you wouldn’t get around the jetty in time! That captures how I feel sometimes when shelling. I love those beautiful juvenile Florida fighting conchs! I’ve never seen any with the horizontal lines before. I have a bunch of those shells from Marco Island, but they don’t seem quite as pretty as yours freshly picked from the ocean. As always, thanks so much for sharing your adventures for those of us who can’t get to the beach.
I was nervous too! I have invested in a water proof backpack, so I would just get very wet if the tide came up too far - LOL! And the shells I normally find here at low tide are so great, it's worth the bit of stress :) I hope you had a nice holiday and happy new year!
Just love it! I remember those early days on vacation as a child...walking the beach and gathering anything that looked interesting and later plowing through a shell identification book and getting so excited about my finds. Such fond memories. Thanks!
Hello, Sharmon 😎 Another glorious day at the beach. The only thing that can make it even better is finding beautiful shells. You've found a few outstanding Florida Fighting Conchs, but that Paper Fig is Gorgeous! I typically go for textured shells, or shells with cool color patterns. Anyway, looks to be another great shelling day. Back to the vid...oh, and many Thanks for taking us along 😊
You are so very welcome. I'm trying to remember if this was the visit that we found the live paper fig - I think that's what you're referring to. That was the only live one I've ever seen. Super cool critter! Thank you so much for watching my beach walk!
I'm late this week, but what a GORGEOUS complete spiny jewelbox! And, oh, the banded tulips you guys have there! Pretty FL cone. Love the sea stars. The lined ones are the ones we see the most here. Yes. I've never seen a juv ffc with that pattern either. Beautiful alph cone! And another beautiful juvie! Nice dark apple murex! Wow you really had a good time there! Thanks, Sharmon! xxoo
I got everything I was looking for and some! I want to make a necklace out of the one juvenile FFC. I was in love with the patterns and it's a perfect size!
Ahh those Juvenile FFC were gorgeous! The colors were so vibrant! Marco Island is one place I have shelled before and it is on my list!! Thanks so much for sharing this! ❤️❤️
Hi Sharmon, That little piece of beach is so amazing! You can hardly believe that there is so much difference on both sides of the jetty. Is this beach not accessible by kayak? Or is that way to dangerous or complicated? The shells are amazing!!😍 Love the tulips. Being Dutch you have to love them.😁 That hinged Spiny Jewelbox is fabulous!! Your shell bag must have being weighing a ton! But it was worth it. 👌🏻 Wishing you a wonderful week. Big hug and lots of love, ❤, Ilona
My shell bag was quite heavy, but I had more room! I wish I could have stayed longer. I will be taking my kayak down there as soon as I can and I bet I could access that beach from the kayak. I'll have to see if I have the time and if the tides will allow me to visit when I'm down there with my boat! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, the Florida fighting conch that you bleached came out stunning. I hope you keep that one in your collection. It even has a bit of a blue stripe. Awesome shell haul.
Another fun beach shelling walk, loved every shell, thank you! ❤️ Btw, I did purchase the Floridas Living Beaches book you recommended, it is a fantastic resource!
So much enjoyed this video. My sister and I are planning a trip to Marco Island first week of May 2022 - will be checking on a negative low tide. Thank you so much!
The really low tides only bless us in the winter but you might get lucky with one that's low enough to get around the jetty! Good luck to you and your sister! 🐚
I just love watching your videos of you picking up shells. I have several shells I've just never seen an olive. I live in Iowa in the middle of the Corn Belt but I just love going to the beach and collecting seashells when I can. Again I love your videos just keep them up
OMG, I'm in conch and tulip heaven!!! Such beautiful shells. Did you hear me gasp when you picked up that beautiful alphabet cone?? Clearly I'm going to have to venture off Siesta Key and get to Marco Island this winter.
Thank you. I am so grateful you share your shelling adventures. I've been following your channel for a few years now. I've learned so much from you ... you take time to show the shells and discuss them before moving on to the next one. It's better than popcorn and a movie. It's been my hope ever since I discovered your and similar channels that someday I would be traveling to Florida to shell ... even for a couple day. I just don't think is gonna happen. All the more reason for my gratitude to you for sharing your adventures.
I know how lucky I am to live here and it really brings me great joy sharing my experiences and all the amazing things I find on the beach with others. I appreciate you taking the time to come along with me on my beach adventures!
Woman you hit the mother load..Awesome .. I love all things natural on Marco Island. Beautiful area! Alphabet Cone is gorgeous! Nice color and big. They only get 2 and half inches long. I think.. lol.. just what I needed to round out a long weekend. Beach Time! Much appreciation. You had a great Thanksgiving weekend, I see. 🙏🏻❤️
Marco is much more built up than some of the other places I visit, but man the shells you can find there! I just bought a roof rack for my kayak so I'm ready to go back and hit some of those islands!
Oh....that striped florida fighting conch reminds me of iced coffee when you put cream on top and it slowly falls down through the ice to the bottom....so pretty!!!!
How long did you soak the Florida fighting conch to remove the periostracum? Great shelling around the jetties and the water was so calm over there. Beautiful shells. thanks for sharing.
That was a beautiful walk! Big amount of shells! It's so nice in that area...I hope to get down there sometime...look forward to next time with your video🌴☀️
What an awesome haul!! I was drooling as you were panning the water...you had good restraint! I would've needed a chiropractor after all of the bending down and carrying everything back with me. 😂 Thanks so much for bringing us along...you make it feel like we're right there with you. ❤
The little shop around the corner so to speak was the best ! And they were free lol ! Wow all those gorgeous juveniles with the most beautiful markings on them ! I’d be there as much as possible ! How much time did you really have before the tide came back in ? It would be nice to make friends with one of those people whom live there for sure ! Thanks for a fantastic day at the beach 🏝
I was only able to be over on that side for a little over 2 hours. It went WAY too quick! I'll be back soon though. I just ordered my kayak rack so I'm ready to go exploring on all those little islands down there!
Amazing finds! Some of those juvenile FFCs really are stunning, they must be quite fresh. Loved all those top snails too. No wonder that place is so good if it's underwater most of the time. Thank you for sharing!
Some of those juvenile Florida Fighting conchs are pretty with the different colors. Amazing how around the corner you found all those neat shells but coming back to the beach it was just the ordinary shells. I think you did well at that place. All beautiful shells!
Hi Sharmon, If I am not mistaken wasn't today the day you were going to announce the winner for the horse conch from Beach Girls Studio? I dont see that video anymore on your channel. I hope all is well! Regardless, thank you for all the information you share. I have gathered a lot of knowledge from you on shelling and understanding of tides and best places to shell😘
Hello!!! Yes, I took down the "Win a shell video" so I didn't have people still entering and the "Winner" video was released tonight at 7pm EST. Thank YOU for coming along with me on my beach walks!
* I am making Angels ( Tree Ornaments ) for gifts & I see all of those white small shells & can't reach thru the screen to get them.. But I Love your Descriptions of the shells you find. I know exactly what I want when I get shells.. You have given me Knowledge which is Awesome.. Thank You..
I love your beach walks and beach finds! It was great having my morning coffee and Florida beach walk with you! So relaxing. I hope to go to Marco Island some day!! :)
Marco Island is really built up, so you won't hear me going on and on about the beauty of the surroundings (except for Tigertail on the north end of the island) but boy do they have good shells! Not giant moon snails, but good enough! 😅
We were down last week. Lots of nutmegs & tulips. Went to Kice . Scored a HUGE whelk. Also the next day scores an albino FFC. Never have seen one personally & I was excited. So white and so shiny. Still is! 😍
Beautiful as always ❤. I have never been to Marco Island. Everytime we go to Sanibel we always wanted to drive there. Only got as far Naples. Now we a retired and can stay longer so I definitely need to check it out. Always enjoy your walks...Thank you
Thank you for telling us how to remove those stuff outside the shell because i have trouble removing them but what you told really works and i always get shells with those stuff so i really needed your advice and yet its on the video. Btw thanks also for taking us with you virtually. Very relaxing.
Wow! Thankyou so much, looks like you hit the jackpot! I have learned alot from watching your videos. We just got back from a trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Alot of people say you cant find shells there. The water is super ruff at most beaches. But there are some if you keep looking. Went to a different beach every day. I did find some nice ones& even a sunrise shell!
Beachcombing in Hawaii sounds amazing! I've also heard the shelling isn't great there unless you snorkel or dive for shells but. I'm glad you found some souvenirs to remember your trip by! 🐚
Gosh I so wish I could do that and come home with a huge box of the loveliness. I kinda know the feeling as my son and I take bits of time From the farm and go to our nearest rover the Yellowstone and pick up rocks instead of shells. Agates, jasper, chert, petrified and agatized wood and an occasional stone that has fossilized shells in them. We got to go to the pacific three years ago for the first vacation in seven years but there were no shells like this there. Montana of course is very very far from these beautiful nature’s creations. And Florida is not likely to happen. I so much like the idea of gathering my various craft inspirations myself instead of buying them in a store. What a fun thing to learn wish I could do a walk and gather shells with you. Thanks for teaching me what the names of them all are.
I see shells for sale and I think the same thing - I'd rather collect them myself 🤗 It does sound like fun to hunt for agates and other precious stones. I'm having a ball beachcombing these Florida beaches and learning about the creatures and the shells they make. Nature is the best classroom!
Those are some great finds, and I can’t get over the different patterns on the juvenile FFC, they are fascinating! Gotta love those cones too! I can relate to hastily making it back in time before being stranded by the tide lol I get distracted by the shells and find myself walking off before I have to rush to get back, especially when I go to silver key! I need to check out Marco on my next visit! Thanks for the beach walk, I really enjoyed it!
I was so bummed I had to leave. I literally could have stayed there all day! It's okay because I just ordered my kayak roof rack so I'm ready to go explore some of those islands!
@@robinmp3841 It has to be the currents. I don’t know why one area will have fantastic shells and another just around the corner doesn’t have much. They probably get pushed up against that part of the island and get stuck for us shellers to discover 🐚
What a fantabulous walk…the shells are sooo pretty! The different patterns on those juvenile Florida fighting conches are beautiful. Do the patterns just go away as they become adults? It’s interesting how some shells look the same no matter the size and some shells change as they mature. Time for me to do some research 😊. Hope you have a great week! ❤️🐚
I have found those FFCs are the most diverse of all the shells. The small ones are very patterned and they have ridges. As they mature they lose some of those patterns (sometimes) and get smoother. I just can't get enough of them!
You’re so lucky to have this on your doorstep, I find it interesting ( and a little sad 😢) that so many of them die before reaching maturity, do you know if it mostly from predation or is there something else that kills them?
I wish I knew for sure! I think most would be predation since the shells are found empty and not with dead creatures in them. I actually don't find many that are deceased, so I guess the good news is nothing goes to waste. I do sometimes ponder that shells are snail skeletons of sorts. I'm enjoy finding the live critters as much as I do their shells 🤗
Love it as always! Suggestion, on your Monday video, along side the sea creatures, can you educate us on the types of seashells? Such as one Monday, all about shark eye shells and maybe the creaturethat lives in it?
I created another channel, SWF Beach Life Shorts, where I'll concentrate on just one animal or critter at a time. As I find neat critters, I highlight them over on the other channel. I never know what I'm going to find, so it's a little hard to plan ahead but I love the idea! ua-cam.com/channels/GgZHZGXWxZVj3-QBVBUlBQ.html

Fantastic shelling trip Sharmon! Thank you❤
* I am making Angels ( Tree Ornaments ) for gifts & I see all of those white small shells & can't reach thru the screen to get them.. But I Love your Descriptions of the shells you find. I know exactly what I want when I get shells.. You have given me Knowledge which is Awesome.. Thank You..
That’s a great haul! I love watching you shell, when I can’t. Come on April! Looking forward to our week in Sanibel! 🐚🐚🐚🐚
Thank you for the recommendation.
Love collecting Shells...So Beautiful 🥰😍✨🐚🐚🐚🐚🐚
Fabulous treasures you found! That FFC really cleaned up beautifully!😊
I had a very nice time walking on the beach shelling can't wait tell next week.😊🐚
We were down last week. Lots of nutmegs & tulips. Went to Kice . Scored a HUGE whelk. Also the next day scores an albino FFC. Never have seen one personally & I was excited. So white and so shiny. Still is! 😍
Oh man I'm jealous! I love albino shells and I'd love to find a really good albino FFC. Good for you! I hope you had fun during your visit!
Beautiful as always ❤. I have never been to Marco Island. Everytime we go to Sanibel we always wanted to drive there. Only got as far Naples. Now we a retired and can stay longer so I definitely need to check it out. Always enjoy your walks...Thank you
The north end (Tigertail) is pretty great too. Lots of walking but it's usually worth it. Good shelling luck to you! 🐚
Thank you for telling us how to remove those stuff outside the shell because i have trouble removing them but what you told really works and i always get shells with those stuff so i really needed your advice and yet its on the video. Btw thanks also for taking us with you virtually. Very relaxing.
Thanks so much for tagging along with me on my walk!
Hahaha if you were living on those buildings, would see more shelling videos. What a difference ! One side had all the great shells. Enjoyed as usual
If I lived in those buildings I'd be able to bring a few new videos a week 😅
Beautiful shells! I'm missing the beach and look forward to your weekly walks.
What an epic day you had! And you gave us beach time again. Thank you
Wow! AWESOME Beautiful haul!👍
Gosh I so wish I could do that and come home with a huge box of the loveliness. I kinda know the feeling as my son and I take bits of time
From the farm and go to our nearest rover the Yellowstone and pick up rocks instead of shells.
Great finds thank you💜🤩🤩😻
Those are some great finds, and I can’t get over the different patterns on the juvenile FFC, they are fascinating!
@@SWFBeachLife super cool!
One of your best videos! Thank you!
Those nutmegs!!!!! Oh how I love them! Beautiful beach walk! Thank you 🙏❤️
the "after" of the last FFC after the bleach bath was stunning!
And so easy to clean up! I wish I could remember who gave me that tip. Works fantastic.
Your lovely walks will help to brighten the dark days of winter here in the UK, plus I have shell envy lol.🐚🐚🐚
I'm happy to have you tag along with me to the beach!
Wow what a difference in just a short distance. That was so awesome to watch🤍💙👍🏻.
Just gorgeous 🌴
Gorgeous. Thanks
A what a fantastic walk! I’d get stuck!! And the SHELLS!!!!
It was so hard to leave!!!
Nice finds! I love your videos. Happy shelling 🙂
beautiful!
WoW, so many beautiful shells around the corner. Amazing how different a few feet apart. Thanks for taking us along. ❤️
It is so weird how the "good" shells seem to be around the corner! Thanks for tagging along with me! 🐚❤️
@@SWFBeachLife Do you think the different currents have something to do with that pulling from different shelf depths???
@@robinmp3841 It has to be the currents. I don’t know why one area will have fantastic shells and another just around the corner doesn’t have much. They probably get pushed up against that part of the island and get stuck for us shellers to discover 🐚
@@SWFBeachLife hahaha I think the Lord gets such joy watching you discover and oohh and ahhh over what creations he puts in your path ;)
Loved the video!
Wow love watching your shows they are amazing I also love the Florida fighting conks amazing 😍
I love those little colorful shells!
Wow! I’ve never found that many shells on Marco Island! I usually have more luck in Sanibel. Both are beautiful islands.
Marco has some pretty spectacular shells, but the sleepy feel and underdeveloped Sanibel holds a special place in my heart ❤️
What a beautiful haul! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
That was awesome to watch…..Oh my shells 🐚!!!!!!!
great haul today
Just stunning! Thanks so much
You are so welcome!
@@SWFBeachLife thank you Sharmon😄🐚
So much fun looked like heaven! I'm such a dork I literally gasped at some of the shells you were pulling out
Well you can be a dork and I'll be a nerd - I love learning about all the things I encounter when I'm at the beach!

Amazing find and beautiful place,, i love shell so much ❤😊
Another awesome shelling adventure
I am sitting here oh pick up that one oh get that one. Love your shelling!
You are such a good teacher.
Aww - thank you! 🌴🌊🐚❤️
