Howard is right! You are so positive and your videos are informative and relaxing. I have gotten back into fountain pens and journals because of you… thank you!
you are literally the most adorable human being i have ever seen!!you’re so positive and passionate about your journals it’s so inspiring i hope you’re having a lovely day
I used to have stickers and tip ins and a million pens and markers... A few years back I honed it back to paper and pen and really enjoy the process of notetaking and journaling a lot more now. The size of the notebook has changed (I’m in an A5 now, versus a passport), but I feel more free to write pulling out a notebook and pen than I ever did having a whole production of setting up and using and putting away a bunch of extra things. I know a lot of people enjoy those things as creative time (while others play instruments or paint or knit), but for me the journaling accessories were a hassle or a burden. Ive found that for me, a simple setup opened more more possibilities than the “stuff” ever did. I’m happy for you that you’ve found a setup that really speaks to you.
I would love to see an update when you return home of the things you used and loved having with you as well as things you didn’t use as much as you thought you would or not at all!
this is my favorite video that you've ever done! my husband came into the room and asked me what i was watching and I replied " tree talking", he said "why is she squating in the bushes?" and i told him the tree was your tripod, he said " that's bloody genius", so there you go, you're not silly, you're a genius!!! have a fantastic adventure!
You’re a genius! Putting a strap onto your journal! Cool. You look really happy in nature. Enjoy your trip. And I love to hear you talking about journaling. It’s so inspirational.
Thank you for another beautiful video! It’s really inspiring to see someone so in their element in these difficult times. I hope the wilderness is treating you with kindness 😜 Plus, that is probably the most innovative traveler’s notebook setup I have ever seen! Your sense of versatility knows no bounds and I bet that Kaweco & Chic Sparrow had no idea what they were in for when you got them. 🖋 Please keep us updated if it’s not too much extra stress or resource usage!
Love camping, it sounds like you’re having a nice time :)) Your purse strap on the TN is perfect! Enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks for taking the time to film a video :))
I envy you so much. 🥰 I am sitting here in an overheated city, tomorrow will be 36°C/97°F and I have a new neighbour that started complaining about me being too loud in my kitchen because she wants to sleep in her guest room that is next to my kitchen instead of her actual bedroom and works shifts. 😑 I hate people and really want to live on my own island. I would only allow deliveries one day a week and would watch them from top of my island and only get there and pick my deliveries up, when they have left again. 😁 Day-dreaming...
I usually take a bluetooth speaker into the kitchen to listen to audiobooks while i work. and it's loud so i can hear the narrator over the running water. your neighbor would hate me.
@@treemerryweather She would. 😄I have been living here 19 years now and she is probably the fifth neighbour but the first and only one complaining. Best thing: She thinks she is absolutely silent, she is not. Of course. No one can be totally silent, that's ridiculous. 😉
Child is asleep, turn on computer...Oh hooray! Another video from my favourite youtuber! Thank you for talking to the tree to make another lovely video for us!
Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Glad you are having a great time. We are in the middle of winter and just watching you in a warm field, gives me hope that winter will pass.
I wish i was there. It’s so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I’ve be working so much that I could not write so much, and always when I see your videos I miss writing, since it’s the thing I love the most in life. So thank you, for always reminding me to write, and enjoy nature and so on. ❤️
How fun! I’m always envious of people who can be outdoors and not get carried away by gargantuan mosquitos (🙋🏻♀️). I never go camping based solely on that issue. I would also probably be extremely grouchy without any AC 🤷🏻♀️ I love the purse strap idea. Brilliant 💡
Genius solution with the purse strap. And yes - traveling and camping (as you have done) or moving across the country in an RV as my family did last month - these highlight what is essential and what is fluff. Wonderful video! You continue to inspire! :)
One of the nicest videos I’ve ever seen! So wonderful to see you in the outdoors☀️ Your video brings back memories of my camping adventures in my younger days😎🌺 Have bushels of fun, you are making memories that you will cherish!
Love the video and the mini printer is a great idea. Great to add visuals to writing. Hope you are enjoying your journey. Scenery looks amazingly peaceful🙂
citronella or lemongrass essential oil is really effective against mosquitoes...and i live in a tropical country where mosquitoes abound. i sprayed myself liberally with it when i spent hours taking pics of neowise C/2020 F3 and didn't get a single mosquito bite :)
You may feel awkward but it doesn’t at all seem so from my perspective! I love your updates and they inspired me to think more about my journaling “set up” before I went on a recent camping trip. The result? I wrote and enjoyed it even more than usual! It looks like you’re having an incredible adventure!
I really enjoyed this check in with you. Listening to what you packed and did not use is an analog for my own situation at home. So many things unused and superfluous. As I go through my life I acquire material goods for a life that is not mine, but the life i feel i should have, maybe? I have so many things in this space that are exactly like the two cartridges you packed to hike even though you are refilling your pen and are carrying the extra 'weight' of the superfluous cartridges. I really need to carry that image with me today as i walk through my space identifying things i have that i haven't used in way too many years. thank you for this mild incentive. and was that rain i heard in the beginning of the video shot through the tent cabin? mmmm rain is good.
Oh yes, I know what you mean. Collecting things for a life perhaps wanted, but not yet living. I really do feel that if something isn’t being used, and even something that can’t have multiple purposes, it needs to go. Sometimes, that’s harder than not to apply. Especially as a collector. The cartridges, like you say are a good example, or even the other 11 fountain pens I’ve brought but have hardly used. I think there are cycles though in life, times of acquiring and times of purging - all constantly refining and adapting to ones current life needs. Good luck sorting through things, if you’re in need of downsizing. :) Thank you for commenting.
@@adventuredenali If you don't mind i'm going to take that piece you wrote about use and multiple functions and place it on several walls in my space. i'm 70 and i really want to lighten my load for the adventures to come. also about the other 11 fountain pens - you were packing not for the moment but for the long haul of this extended vacation and in those situations we usually err on the side of wanting too many options - enjoy your awesome trip.
So good to see you and catch up on how your trip is going! I also tend to take too many things on trips with which to journal. Hoping Bean is doing well!
Oh, I'm also wondering, how are you doing the planning during this trip? Is there a separate hidden planner? Do you not (feel the need to) plan, do you keep all of the details in your head, use your phone, delegate it to your partner, or is it incorporated into your journaling?
I am happy to be the tree you are talking to. I always overpack my journaling stuff. Even when I go super minimal I don't use everything unless I make a point to. I love my Ivy printer. I have a teeny tiny scissors like you have but half the size. It came in a Stationery Selection box put together by MyLifeMits (her youtube channel/name). I love those too. As tiny as they are they are super easy to use.
Loved this video...and really think you're idea to add a strap to your journal is fabulous! Looks like you are having a wonderful adventure, thanks for taking some time to share your thoughts and goodies with the rest of us! :)
Loving this video and been following your channel for some time. I so enjoy you and your set up is great. I love when people use their creative side to adapt a Traveler Notebook to outdoors, camping and adventures...Thanks
You should be a screen writer! I can watch your videos several times and they always seem new. Yesterday I ordered a CS A5 Americano, now I need inserts, lol.
I really like this video. Flick the leaf. I have been eyeing a pair of scissors like that on Jet Pens. When you get home and you can show it close up, you'll have to show how you did the purse strap. Now the big question. With what you know now, how would you pack for journalling next time?
I have a little keychain/charm attached to my traveler's notebook. I found it on the ground, took it home, and cleaned it up. It was kinda buried a little bit so I assumed no one had touched it for a while, but to be safe I sprayed some disinfecting spray on it and let it sit, lol.
Loved this video! When you get home, would you consider doing a “tour” of your fountain pens and inks? (I’m a pen/ink fan, too.) Thanks! Happy camping!
"Squatting in the bushes..." LOL! Just curious, how long can you write with a cartridge in the Kaweco? I have my eye on one and wonder how many pages I could get thru before the ink runs out.
Just counted, 51 front and back pages, or double that if you count front and back separately. Pocket sized pages though. Which may equate to about a third of that maybe if in an A5 size? I don’t have an A5 size handy to compare.
Following your trip is invigorating since here we are stuck in level four still.......Doomed to the not more than five kms from home for no more than an hour a day with a mask "............no visitors etc "...........Mind you animals are loving humans stuck in there home all day lol ....keep the videos coming ....😷🌍👍🇦🇺
Are there other people camping near you? It just looks a lot like heaven there. What is the temperature? Looks cooler judging by your clothes. Those little printers are so awesome! Have fun!😊😊
There are! It’s 20 acres owned by family friends. I usually come up here in the summer, I help with building projects, and they give me Paradise to live in for a little while. :)
Do you still like this printer or any highlights of what you liked? I've been thinking about getting a pocket printer but can't decide. Also any suggestions on like pen pouches or puch for other goodies?
Have you seen the new Chic Sparrow Lewis & Clark? I assume you have; it seems like it would be a good fit for this! You’re not too far from me (well, in Montana terms, a couple of hours is quite close!): I haven’t been able to spend any time in this area yet. It looks so beautiful! Hopefully next year, once the kids are a little older we can get out camping somewhere like this. Helena is on the smaller side of cities, but I’m still feeling the need to run away for a bit.
I have! I’m intrigued by the Lewis and Clark, and if there comes a day in which I go back to A5, I’d really love to try them out. I’ve always wanted to visit Helena! I’ve actually not explored much of the state. Generally, I come here and hardly even leave the property, haha. I will make it to Glacier this year though, which I’m very excited about. My parents visited Helena one year and really enjoyed it quite a bit, considered moving there for a moment even.
Alicia, I would love a pen roll like yours. I Where can I purchase one? I would like to also get a fountain pen. I used one in school as a child many years ago. I which one would you recommend as my first pen?
Hahaha! Fortunately it was not! There’s only one area up here that I know has poison ivy, it’s a little patch along the Yellowstone River. But the forest up here is surprisingly tame and friendly. :D
