Well this has made my week! I love how such a wide range of genres still manages to capture your reading tastes. I’m so happy that this has provided an opportunity to showcase Unhinged again! Thanks so much for the shout out Aaron.
Yes, it's a good one to do. That said, I've never made a video this long before and I have a newfound respect for people who do long videos because it took blooming ages even with my minimal editing.
@@ariannefowler455 It feels natural to me, I get bored if I read too much in one genre and I also miss genres if I haven't read them in a while. I do think it's some sort of greed 😂
What a fun idea for a video! Love your recommendations, so many books I've been meaning to read as well... I've not read any Ursula K. Le Guin, even though I'm pretty sure I'll love her writing when I get to it. Haven't read the Lord of the Rings books either. Ha, as soon as you said thriller I was thinking Ripley. It's such a good book. Have you read any Kazuo Ishiguro? I feel like you'd probably like his books. Never Let Me Go would be my pick for speculative fiction. I read Crooked House last year and loved it - only the third Christie book I've read but certainly not my last. I don't read many short stories but I really liked E.M. Forster's - they're VERY different from his novels but nearly as good.
I didn't really like Never Let Me Go, I did absolutely love Remains of the Day though. E.M. Forster I've never got round to for some reason but I do own at least one of his books. Le Guin was a trailblazer and wrote some really important feminist works too, I think you would like her.
@@AaronReadABook yeah I will film it to go up in the gap between Christmas and New Year...I think....(i'm always changing my mind and reshuffling them haha)
What a great video! I made a list off of your recommendations. I still have yet to try Ursula K. Le Guin, but it's high up there because I think I would really like her. Yeah, I agree, I Who Have Never Known Men was just such an amazing story!
I haven’t finished watching the video, but already so many great recommendations! I added The Light Years to my want to read list ❤ I’d never heard about it! (Literary fiction is also my least favorite genre. You’re so right, self involved is the best descriptor for it haha. I do have some favorites but mostly it makes me roll my eyes 🫠)
If you want to try more poetry I recommend Holly McNish. I really enjoyed this video, thank you! Came to your channel through Spinster’s Library Jane Austen for Men video.
Great effort Aaron. Best wishes.

I'm so glad I read Unhinged, otherwise I would have had nothing for that! Thanks for the great idea!
This is such a great video. Added an ample amount to my TBR and will more than likely nick this idea for a future video.

What a great list! I love that you read so widely.

This is such a brilliant idea - I'm definitely tempted to nick it too - although I wouldn't be able to do all of them....great choices!
@@bookssongsandothermagic yep it's a fun one. Subgenres would be fun too

Oh goodness!! This makes me want to read more out of my comfort zone than I already do!!
I do think anyone can find something they like in any genre, it might be a bit of a stretch with paranormal romance for some people though.
@ I can see why it would be. Lol

@@bookstalgic Thanks! I do recommend Le Guin to everyone, she is a beautiful writer no matter the genre.
I love this idea! I may need to give it a try

It's so good, it was my favourite book of last year and I ended up reading all 5 in the series, now I'm reading all her other books.
@ I’d never heard of her! I’ll check out her other work too
Loved this Aaron, brilliant idea too. Great recommendations, particularly I Who Have Never Known Men 😂
I think you could do this one too Deb, you must have read all of these genres 😁
@ I may well give it a go 😁

@@naomisackett9210 McNish sounds interesting, I like that one of her books is called Slug, I'll check her out thanks!
Such a brilliant video! I love the idea of being driven by bookish greed, 100% 😂
It is like food, I love starters and tapas, not one big main thing.
