    One of the best Yamaha devices ever. There is nothing more versatile and its sound and possibilities are incredible. I get a lot of use out of mine and if I find another one cheap, I'll buy it!

    After having this keyboard for 2 years now all I can say is this is one of the best ever!! I added the 80's and Guitar banks to recreate classic tunes and even 2 years later I'm hearing and learning new features on this. I currently own this board, a Yamaha PSR S950, Korg Krome, Korg Liverpool, and a Roland XP50. I was a big believer in Roland, but I am a big fan of Yamaha. If you're a musician like me, this is a great board to create with. 😊

      Wow, in 2024 and I just bought me one today, I'm stoked 😮 I had one years back and know how good they sound and how nice the keybed is. They sound even cleaner than on here, as they have a buzz throughout this whole recording.😮

    Wow, this video took me a long time to find again. Late thanks for this video. Out of all the videos and research I did on the MOXF series, this one by far was the best and was one of the key factors in helping me make a decision. Thanks for a great demonstration.

    Phil (Bad Mister on the Yamaha forums) is a great player and programmer. I've been using Yamaha now for almost 15 years. I just switched to the MOXF 8 from the MOTIF XS8 (weight was the principal reason as I gig a lot and lugging 70+ pounds around on a regular basis was starting to wear thin on me). I've had a variety of different keys over the years but nothing even comes close to the Yamaha's. Thanks Phil for an informative vid as always!!

    There's multiple uses for "synthesizers", Andrew. Yes, some people want to make new sounds. Some people need stock sounds for certain performances. Some people want a tool to help in song writing ( with backing instruments, which could be changed when the song is recorded.) While this synthesizer does not have every capability of every synth, it can do a lot. You have many stock analog waves onboard, as well as some FM type sounds, but you could also sample something to get any possible wave. Once you have waves you want, you have up to eight "oscillators", with the usual complement of envelopes for osc, filter and amp. You also have a huge number of effects. I don't see anyone exhausting that quickly, but the primary audience for this is not someone who's main goal is to make new sounds I think.

    I just read the official Yamaha specs, and it says the "remote controller functions" only work (for Windows) with Cubase 7 and Sonar. I use Presonus Studio One (and Notion). If you know, what WON'T I be able to do with the MOFX with Studio One? Since I want to get one of these primarily for composing and making mock-ups, this is something that I need to know. Thanks...

    • @NStuffMusic
      @NStuffMusic  10 років тому +2

      Well, I don't know what to tell you. There is no brightness control. I guess either adjust the contrast to darken, put something over the screen, play only during the day, or wear sunglasses. Seriously though, I don't know.

    • @koreamedia

      Thanks for possible solutions. The thing is I don't like wearing any accessory on my body. Further I already put sth over the screen, but the brightness of the LCD on moxf8 is too powerful, and as you know there is no adjustment menu at all.

    • @cosmic_gate476
      @cosmic_gate476 10 років тому +2

      They have different purposes - the Roland is meant as a standalone unit and the Yamaha (which can do the same, though) is better used in combination with cubase which is included in the purchase. Both are great performance (on-stage) keyboards and for general purposes I'd take the moxf6 over the fa-06.

    Phil I bought your DVD on the MOX which also applies to the MOXF, you are a great educator and I took notes - the learning curve on this keyboard is a little steep for me but I'll stick with it. Question for you - I see that most of the voices in voice mode have their own arpeggio patterns if you hit the arp on button. I like a lot of these arpeggio sounds in voice mode but don't know how to bring them into a recording say in pattern or song mode. Do you know how I could do this? Thanks for your knowledge.

    • @MrTurbine777
      @MrTurbine777 11 років тому +3

      Since I highly doubt Phil or the person that uploaded this video will ever answer this, I'll give you my opinion. MOXF6 blows the Kross out of the water. You can't really compare the MOXF though to the Kross and get a fair deal. The Kross is what? $700? The Moxf6 $1,200. Huge difference there both in cost and performance\features. If you're just starting out and want something to learn on, then I would say the Kross since if you can even look that low on a board and consider it, then maybe that's all you need. If you're more experienced and able to "actually use" some of the available options (most people don't even get under the hood on most keyboards and I mean use the features, know the functions, not at all about your ability to play), then I'd say the MOXF6. Personally, I was comparing the MOXF8 to the Korg Krome 88, but again, you can't compare the moxf the the kross since that's too different. Compare it to the Korg Krome 61 ($999) since that's a much more fair match. After months of consideration and after spending decades with Korg, I decided on the Moxf8. I have a video that shows my test of the Korg Krome 88, and very briefly touch the 61. Sadly there were no MOXF's in the store, but no regrets at all.
      One final thought to help explain what I meant about "actually use". I'd say my playing ability is above average, and it was also back when I bought my Korg Triton Pro 76. BUT, that new Korg leaned up against my wall for a couple years after I got it and I continued to play my Roland RD 500. Why? Because it was my first workstation in decades and didn't understand anything at all. None of the terms even made sense and the manual might as well had been in an alien language. Eventually I made projects for myself to slowly learn more about how to take advantage of what it had to offer, but that cost me $3,700 back when it first came out and was a dumb move on my part due to ignorance and compulsion shopping, haha.
      Lastly, it's all about what you want. I still have and use my Triton so I was in the market for a new 88 weighted board to replace my Roland. Acoustic piano and feel were the main deal with me so the MOXF8 won. If I were buying my board based on wanting "Synth" sounds, then the Krome would have won easily since the UI I find much better and am very used to it, not to mention that the Krome 76 key version is the same price as the MOXF 61. In that case too though, I certainly wouldn't want an 88 weighted board (well, not for piano) ;)
      Hope that makes sense and helps.

      Not all of the sounds are new. It has many more to choose from, matching the Motif XF sound bank now. And the MOXF has flash memory as an option, allowing sampling and storage of samples internally on board. And there are a number of other added and improved features.

      thank you very much. can you also edit and save sounds in internal bank without buy the expansion board? the usb port is just for midi/audio or you can connect a pen drive or hard disk to charge sample?

      Yes you can save to the internal memory. They call it User Memory. And it has an audio/midi USB interface to communicate to your computer DAW. Also it has a USB flash drive connector to save samples and more.
