    Yamaha has a patented sample compression system. the 800MB of wave rom on the MOXF is equivalent to around 1.6 Gb of wave rom. This is why their pianos (and other acoustic instruments) and have such a long sustain.

    Best keyboard sounds for gigging musician period. Covers all genre at a great price and weighs practically nothing for a weighted action. Other than the organ and clav this blows away the Nord for a fraction of the price. I have a modx8 and I prefer this over that.

I owned a Motif ES back in days (as well as other gear from Korg, Emu, and a RS7000) and loved it; but I got tired of size/lugging gear, and thought I could get buy with just a Mac and Midi Controller... Well here I am in 2018, wishing I had a full size workstation again. Looked at the Kross 2 but Im very familiar already with Yamaha menus .

I played the MOXF8 at Guitar Center and was blown away. The keybed is also supposed to be less-noisy and prone to wearing out from what I heard. MY MX88 had loud clicky keys after one year of use

    • @solojim
      @solojim Рік тому

      No piano sounds good through HS8s. They are too flat and the piano patches have frequencies that cannot be duplicated through monitors. Through headphones and in the mix, they are fabulous, as we are hearing. This is done in a studio digital format I would say.

    • @TheTruthIsFiction
      @TheTruthIsFiction 5 років тому

      Some of the sounds are good. Some are not. The drums, pianos and acoustic guitar are all good. The strings sound too orchestral for me. I use other instruments for synth sounds and strings. Each instrument has its own uses. You can't do an entire performance just on one instrument. That's why so many artists use racks and racks of gear.

    • @Jason75913
      @Jason75913 4 роки тому +1

      @@TheTruthIsFiction MOXF is made to do an entire performance in it alone, same as the other workstation synths - any particular sound being a bit too x or y is nitpicking (not to mention that these can be changed anyway in the synth itself as you have access to all sound design parameters down to the oscillators), but if you have to have only one keyboard, MOXF will do
      in a studio setting, Kontakt and sample libraries are better anyway, and you can have tons of rack gear and whatever else if that floats your boat

    • @Jason75913

  • @DudeMannn
    @DudeMannn 4 роки тому +2

    The first eight and a half minutes of this video it's just talking and two piano solos. lol. My biggest wish watching these videos ABOUT pianos is always that nobody talks and nobody plays a long piano solo and instead go through as many sounds including drums and accompaniment sounds and bass guitar sounds as possible. The rest about how to operate the piano we can watch other tutorial videos about that and we can read the manuals. But, without fail, most videos on pianos is just dudes talking. What a
    waste of valuable time. It's all about the sounds. That's the most important thing. Then if you go through a lot of sound in 15 minutes, then take the last 10 minutes to explain how the piano works. It's only fair to the viewers instead of being selfish and just playing solos and talking for over 8 and a half painful minutes at the beginning.

    I purchased this keyboard to continue my work when my Ensoniq finally died, early this past Summer. After doing as much research as I could online, I purchased the MOXF6 with high hope. I gave it one star because the voices and samples are excellent. Unfortunately, if I can't figure out the interface, due to a thoroughly worthless manual, I'm dead in the water. And, to be clear - this user interface is one of the most abysmally 'non-intuitive' I've ever encountered. Absolutely horrendous. Added to the fact that Yamaha support is only available during what, for most of us, are week day working hours, they were as useless as the manual. Long-story-short, I took the unit back to the store. So... If you have all the free time in the world to figure out the interface, or... if you're a performer and NOT a songwriter/composer, you'll probably love the sounds. As for the rest? Sorry to say it's garbage.

      I'm sorry but your ignorance doesn't make this a bad product. People dont take his review seriously this is a great board.

      Pretty sure you copy and pasted this from somewhere else. I read this same exact review elsewhere before I purchased mine, and boy am I glad I ignored it 😂

    Fortunately Yamaha came up with a new model (modx ) And discontinued (I hope) one of the most crappy synth i ever played(moxf). I wonder what kind of shit are thinking the yamaha ingineers When decide save money inventing this Aberrant keyboard. I suppose that yamaha "cheap" sometimes Means "complicated"..
    Could they make it any more complicated? Every single thing or programing is a nightmare, the manual is and insult.. doesn't say Anything about certain and important operations.. daw integracions are difficult and Many times ..imposible.
    Yamaha sometimes doesn't realize we're in the 21st century AND not all musicians think Like engineers. "inspiration in a FLASH"? WHAT A JOKE.

      Totally disagree. Has most sounds you will ever need for covering many different genre. Take some time and learn how to use it. Light weight great action great price. For a giggling musician this is a great value. Other than the organ and clav this blows away the Nord stuff at a fraction of the price. Do yourself a favor and rethink your evaluation.
