UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson gives a press conference following a post-Brexit trade deal being agreed with the EU.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a new Brexit trade deal following the negotiations between the UK and EU.
"We have taken back control of every jot and tittle of our regulation in a way that is complete and unfettered." Mr Johnson said of the agreement.
The detail of the deal is still to come and it must now be discussed by EU Ambassadors and UK MPs respectively before it can be ratified.

Ironic that the British don't want to be ruled over by some foreign power
@@baybarsedturner2 first of calm down you sound like I attacked you personally. Second of all I did not say Britain was the only country to have an Empire but at this point in time they're the only ones wanting to leave now aren't they. I still didn't hear what we've compromised on and given up to the EU. Despite being asked twice by the Q&A.
Read it.
Compromised on? How about leaving the EU to ''take back control'' and ending up with EU officials in the UK, telling the UK what to do? UK traders requiring customs declarations when selling to UK customers? Perhaps Dublin having more say on trade in part of the UK than London has?
All the bluster, and shameful lies, about they ''need us more''?
@@seanoneill8446 That's just a filthy traitors way of looking at it. The was an agreement, it was an agreement were both sides would be polite about it, with triggering article 16 in Ireland the scum in the EU have sown the world just what they are, this is why hardline Brexiteers wanted a no deal, it's now looking like they were right.
They said they would 'punish' the UK if they left and that is what they are trying to do, a stupid game they will lose.
I hope you ones that voted for Brexit understand that a Tory MP said that half and safety rules for workers will be striped back. So going back to when working class we be treated like crap so you get what you voted for
Listening to this all I have heard is free ports, free trade deals, improving landscapes, regulating financial services differently but no material detail at all other than more fish in the sea for UK 🇬🇧 😂
Because it's party political spin of a bad trade deal which massively worsens bureaucracy and red tape for British businesses trying to do any trade with Europe. They rushed this through for Christmas day to camouflage it as somehow great and a big Christmas present and morale booster after the Tories have made a massive balls-up of their pandemic response causing the worst death rates in Europe here.
I'm amazed they didn't have Boris dressed in a Santa suit here for extra propaganda effect. Britain doesn't have industries to fall back on and the economy is now going to just suffer even worse. The Tories will wait a few years then just start blaming the bad economy endlessly on coronavirus and immigrants. They'll probably still keep trying to blame Labour for immigration today, despite the Tories having been in power for a decade now and increasing immigration.
@@AD-kv9kj Just as well then that less than 5% of British businesses actually export to the EU then isn't it... How can you compare death rates amongst Europe when the states mostly count differently to each other? @@adamskyj69 this is : " less than 5% of British businesses actually export to the EU" quite true - however you seem to ignore the FACT that there are thousands of jobs that rely on these export in subsidiary companies. In addition the service sector (and we are a service sector industry country) has not been included in the exit agreement - so how do we agree on this potion of our industry?
@@htleinI don't ignore, however, it is also a fact that many more millions of jobs don't rely on those subsidiary companies, so why should everyone in the country be held to ransom over EU rules for just a few thousand jobs... I'm glad you acknowledge we are predominantly a service sector nation, which many seem to ignore or not understand. So please tell me, which service related industries have benefitted from the single market, other than the banking and finance insurance sectors via passporting?
@@adamskyj69 yours: "which service related industries have benefitted from the single market, other than the banking " ..... reply - any area of tourism : 218 billion pounds. The current deal can be either seen as a no deal in waiting or an opportunity for both sides to improve basic minimum standards. It is balanced and fair. Unfortunately for the pro-EU lobby in the UK the deal doesn t force the UK to follow EU rules unquestionably, but seems to be more some sort of reciprocal obligations in general terms. There is no ECJ, there is no free movement and the deal is potentially tarrif free. Compared to Theresa May's days when the EU was so persistent in humiliating the British government by showing arrogance, it s a huge improvement. The EU must finally understand that referendums matter and there are not supposed to be held repeatedly until the verdict suits it.

My Brexit deal highlights
The UK get 50% of the fishing rights back instantly, growing to 75% by 5 a half years. At the end of 5 and a half years all rights revert to the UK. This gives Europe time to either come up with an offer or to make alternate arrangements.
In regard to tariffs to do with level playing field, the UK is now completely out of that system. The entire process ruled by the European court no longer applies.
However, the EU can apply tariffs to individual items that make them uncompetitive in their own domestic markets that the UK export to the EU. The UK can do the same to the EU. Notably on the specific items and not broad vengeance tariffs from either side.
Nobody can impose those tariffs for trades done with third party countries. It only applies to competition between the UK and EU directly and on specific items.
Also to impose tariffs on goods between the other country, they must first convince an independent non-EU panel that it is necessary to preserve competition in that specific market, internally.
Again, any deals either side do with third parties are outside of the scope of the arrangement and those deals cannot be put before the independent panel.

We don't have a fishing fleet capable of fishing our waters. Will take years to build up. Once it is. We can then say no to the EU.
A small country that makes so much noise all the time is annoying.

Good to see Democracy has prevailed with our independence, a battle fought hard and won. Proud to be British. Relish this historical moment.
Are you from Hong Kong ?
@@MrStoneyburke At least people of Hong Kong value democracy and freedom, unlike Europhiles who are happy to be shackled to the EU.
