“Love What You Love!”

- Since I had already covered up too much of Connie’s work (and there was nothing I could do to retrieve it) I decided to fully embrace my visual language and go with what I love…I mixed a cerise/fuscia color (I picked up in Oaxaca) and a Liquitex Cadmium Red Light to get a luscious, gorgeous, devastatingly beautiful…ravishing RED!!! I’m so happy & delighted and filled with joy 🥰
Also…even though I covered up too much of Connie’s work, it was her visual language that got me to this point, her spread was the roadmap that directed me here…so her work is an integral part of mine. What’s unseen is just as powerful (perhaps more so) than what’s seen. In life & in art.
Lush!!! ....adore this colour Soraya it evokes circus type childhood memories.....so very clever...i want to dive in.....thankyou Soraya xx
Thank you so much Suzette! Yes…I wrote out the “live what you love” quote from Connie and anytime I’m floundering…it anchors me🥰
Gorgeous color for the background!
Thanks Patricia…this red was too delicious🥰
I also love that color
Thanks Brenda…me too🥰 When in doubt…”love what you love” a Connie-ism 🥰
I love that you said "Love what you love." My artistic style is realism, and my college professor said I'd never make it as an artist because of that. So....instead of pursuing an art career, I changed my major to Special Education. I recently retired from the school system after 30 years at a young age, and now I'm able to focus full time on art. So many of the videos I see in my feed say "How to loosen up your work." I don't want to loosen up my work. I don't want to be an abstract or conceptual artist. I want to love what I love❣
Hi Michele…I’m so sorry that you had such a negative (and life altering) experience in college…but I’m so glad that you’re now free to create as you desire.
The “love what you love” phrase came from brilliant artist Connie Solera and it was a life changer!! It’s simple yet not easy…but I have it written down and pinned above my studio table. Whenever I’m in doubt…I come back to it. And I completely agree…just because I love red, it doesn’t mean everyone else has to! And if you love drawing and painting tightly and very realistic then you shouldn’t “loosen up”.
You’re on the right path…keep going 🥰
@@sorayanulliah Thank you for your kind words, Soraya!❤
