to be honest 250 xc is is perfect for harescrambles .300 ove ridden a few and I just feel then are more then what you need .especially when you get tired you can whiskey throttle very easy ..im also a pretty light guy at 165lbs
@@gsxrstyle great to hear! I’ve been leaning towards the 250 because of feedback from people like you saying 300 wears them out too much. Hey Ben I used to ride a lot when I was kid. I’m 33 now and been riding a decent amount. Does the NETRA / AMA membership only go calendar year to year? BTW thanks for the video I’d been thinking about trying hare scrambles out and this video is motivation to check it out more. Hopefully I can get the memberships/paperwork figured out and get out there. Seems there’s no serious bike requirements? FWIW I currently am on a 2004 KDX200. Certainly not a motocross bike but suits me well. I’m curious what (if any) classes I’d be able to ride as it’s not vintage and not a 125 or 250.
Hi don thanks for your comment .I am 35and currently race in the C-vet class i like that class because any size motor goes ..instead you get to race with ppl 30 yrs of age + i cant keep up with those young bucks out there i cant get hurt I've got bills to pay ..the kdx is a capable bike I strongly suggest stiffnimg the suspension ..I know that bike is limited on adjustments ..but its much too soft at higher speeds for netra in my opinion. Join netra talk on fb they just posted the 2021 season calender .and yes you will need to pay every yr to keep the membership .I will be making a revision of this video soon seeing I was very new to racing when I made this but the video is still accurate for new racers thanks for watching

An hour befor the race is optimistic the organisers could have up to 500 or more riders to deal with you have to be dressed ,fed bike has to be scrutineer'd matbt even a quick medical ,you have in some cases a sight lap ,GET there early ..regardless of your class not to mention the obibligatory or not pre race toilet its all time queues etc ..
Are you new to riding dirtbikes in general ? Or did you have past racing experience in earlier yrs? They have a senior or super senior class that you could start out in
Honestly the most important training is just seat time I used to think because I was fit from lifting weights I'd be good at hare scrambles I felt like my stamina would be on Par. Man was I wrong ..the fact is nothing can substitute for seat time your body just conditions for riding for long periods of time with no breaks try riding for 1.5 hrs with little to no breaks and riding through arm pump safely to build stamina. It wouldn't hurt to hit the treadmill or elliptical at the gym to help but like I said nothing can sub for seat time the reason I know this is because my 1st 2 yrs of racing I was pretty jacked and what I thought in shape even did alot of cardio but I was still getting my arss handed to me but scrawny kids and females 😅. The difference between them and me they had seat time muscle memory stamina from yr after yr of them racing and riding .last yr was my best race yr even though I'm way out of shape I gained a belly and lost muscle from not going to the gym because of my own silly depression. I had the most racing stamina I've ever had my body was just used to the 1.5 hrs of brute netra had to offer .but now I've got bummed up to B class I will have to add another 30 min to my race times .hopes this helps I plan on making a video about what foods to eat before races and things to do to help with arm pump soon
@@gsxrstyle don't feel silly about your depression! its treatable and requires guts to tackle. Hope you are feeling better now that its almost time to ride again! Thanks for the video. You gave some great takes on racing hare scrambles.

Thank you
What is the key to beating Fernando? And have you ever resorted to throwing banana peels to get a better start?
😂😂😂🤦♂️ Fernando usually always beats me I have good starts but gas out after the 1st lap or so then he makes his move after he catches the 2nd wind .its funny because when I 1st met him I was beating him ..then tables turned after I bought the yamaha yz250fx he would spank me every time.bike was much too heavy for me and He got really good fast ..but now I feel comfortable on my new machine and things are definitely going to get more even this season 🏆
@@gsxrstyle you were flying on the TE Sunday! Next stop Bluesloppy! Lets hope it is dry this year!
My first race i finished two laps before my clutch able broke and I had to pull out. Second race is coming up on sunday my goal already is just to finish
That's great man ..but crappy you didnt get the chance to see how youed finish if not for mechanical failure...atleast now you find of know what to expect going forward. I will be racing also on sunday hopefully I dont crash after the 1st turn like last race 😂 good luck and lmk how you make out
An hour befor the race is optimistic the organisers could have up to 500 or more riders to deal with you have to be dressed ,fed bike has to be scrutineer'd matbt even a quick medical ,you have in some cases a sight lap ,GET there early ..regardless of your class
not to mention the obibligatory or not pre race toilet its all time queues etc ..
😆 to the toilet ...that's so true though .. them nerves will get ya everytime
I know there is a 96db sound restriction but is a spark arrestor required?
No spark arrestor needed for the ne netra races ..
And look at you now...Rippin!
Hahah thanks man I wouldnt say ripping but definitely learned a thing or 2 with time and experience
What about a 70 year old starting a race?
Are you new to riding dirtbikes in general ? Or did you have past racing experience in earlier yrs? They have a senior or super senior class that you could start out in
What kind of training to get fit did you do?
@@seller2001 thank you .I take it 1 day at a time 🙏
