  • Time to play detective! Can you figure out what's special about the bike before Monk does?
    Monk is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3JuixBg
    From Season 7, Episode 11, "Mr. Monk On Wheels": When Natalie unwittingly helps a thief steal the bicycle of a biotech CEO, she ropes Monk into solving a crime straight out of "Encyclopedia Brown" -- until Monk learns the hard way how dangerous this thief really is. Bradley Whitford guest stars.

    Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

      See I remembered him more as Eric from Billy Madison so my first instinct at the time was that he was in on it but surprisingly no. Apart from being reasonably upset initially that his bike got stolen and a stranger helped him along with it, dude was a nice enough guy

    couldn't she have just...watched him put the code in? he trusted her, and it's not like he was particularly secretive about inputting it.

    • @pikapika4355

      No, she couldn’t “watch him” put in the combination because he *was* being secretive and obviously didn’t trust her.
      He’s the only one with the combination and with good reason too (if you’d seen the end of this episode): This is his project and that he’s in charge of, with it worth a lot of money, so less people knowing the combination, the better.

    • @MrLego3160

      @@pikapika4355 5:40 she can *see* him do it from where she's standing. and that's his right hand, so he near certainly isn't facing her.

      @@MrLego3160 If she could “see” him do it, then they’d be no point to her scheme with the bike lock. And sure, maybe he doesn’t 100% of the time, block the combination from his assistant.
      But not bothering to completely cover the number pad and trusting her with the combination/ letting her blatantly stare at him putting in the correct numbers, are two different things.

    • @MrLego3160
      @MrLego3160 7 місяців тому

      @@pikapika4355 There *isn't* a point to the bike lock scheme. because she has days, if not weeks, if not months to piece together the code just by glancing up whenever he goes to the safe. and in the case shown at least, it wouldn't matter if she was blatantly staring, because *he can't see her*

    • @pikapika4355

      @@MrLego3160 (Since my comment didn’t show up… :)
      The entire episode plot revolved around the bike lock scheme, so, *yes, obviously there’s a point to it* . If the assistant could easily find out the combination, why the fck did she bother with her convoluted plan to have the guy input the same combination to the lab project on the bike lock and then steal said bike lock to figure out the correct combination?
      You don’t like the answer I gave you, fine. But is it that hard to believe/ understand/ accept the show’s logic for the assistant being unable to crack the combination code? Need I remind you that this is a show where your suspension of disbelief is heavily put to the test, with criminal arrests made on the most asinine, circumstantial evidence/ theories (e.g. a murderer getting caught because they parked on a hill) and criminals committing crimes for the stupidest of reasons (causing blackouts so a tv show isn’t played)? Being unable to see the combination isn’t _that_ much of a stretch…
