Thats a great idea but where is the vent for cooking on the stove reason i asked is i wish we could have done this, i just bought a over the range microwave its a pain to put in lol!! This is pretty cool though
For me I think we need to recheck the instruction/precaution for placing microwave oven. It might reduce its lifetime use especially if we often use the oven.
Looks very good but I should imagine that it could be dangerous, the heat, steam and fat and potential fire risk rising from the hob below will destroy the microwave in time.
This video goes against every fire code I have ever seen.. you CANNOT have combustible materials -IE wood- within 36” of the top of the heat source.. There’s also no range hood to exhaust above the stove. This is a case of trying to save -in his words- $250 on a new microwave but is willing to risk his house burning down?
No, that's not right. Instead, you should have bought and mounted an over the range microwave within that spot. With your current setup, you kitchen is at a high risk of catching fire.
Be careful when you do this kinds of diy with a microwave that's not supposed to be enclosed like that, because it might not vent properly and you don't want that.
Brilliant, exactly what I was looking for to replace an over-expensive built in microwave. The cleats make it simple. Thank you!
very smart, simple design!
i want to replace my over the stove microwave to just a small countertop microwave. Thanks for the idea. Great video.

wish i would saw this video before i attempted my own diy! Great job!
Nice job....BUT....I personally wouldn't install it over the stove without an exhaust hood between them.
Thank you Rick!
Perfect. I will be doing that!
Very smart…great idea and nice job!!!
Great
Excellent Video...I need a Shelf like this one. Is that a premade kit or was it Homemade? My Cabinets are 30 1/2" apart.
Awesome video
Gave me some ideas Thanks!
Nice idea. I thing I would have angled the sides of the overhand so the cabinet doors can open farther.

Nice work Rick! :)
beautiful job
Hi how are you guys doing? Do you think I can do something like this for in between 2 pantries?
I thought about doing this in my apartment bcus absolutely have no counter space to sit my microwave on thanks!
Genius. You have more countertop space, but now you can't use your main oven as the shelf is directly above the heat source.

Will McLendon - exactly. It's a big hazard.
