17.35 O.M.G. - that beautiful foreground golden rock. A great Easter Egg. :)
Thanks Gaylene, yes I really like that photo too 🤓
Well done Brett. Great images as per normal with very informative commentary. Thanks again.
Gday frank, thanks mate, glad you’re enjoying the videos. There’s a couple more coming in the next two weeks.
Great images, mate!!! Love to shoot vertical as much as possible. Them seascapes look amazing that way. Have a great one
Cheers mate, glad to see you on UA-cam, the best platform. Yeah verticals are always hard to go past right.
Love this image
Thanks for watching again Tracy
Beautiful photo
Thanks for tuning in Debbie
Nature's colours and textures on show. You can't beat it!
One advantage of using an L bracket is that it can provide some protection to your camera body in the event of being dropped onto rocks etc as you experienced recently.
I normally start off with landscape images to get an overview of the scene before changing to portrait for a different view. If I can pull off a good shot, I'm happy with either!
Thanks for commenting & watching Bill, yes the L-bracket can protect your camera as I’ve learnt in the past when it blew off the tripod once, tune for more videos in the next couple of weeks
WOW Beautiful places! 😀
Thankyou
@@BrettWoodPhoto 😀
Nice work again mate!👍🙋🏻♂️
Steve Thankyou kindly mate 🤓
I like to shoot vertical most times. I have to remember to use landscape too. Loving your seascape videos and your beautiful images, Brett. Happy Waster to you and Lisa.
Thanks a lot Rose, appreciate it.
Always appreciating your videos...really nice pics. Keep up the good work and keep them coming! Thanks.
William thanks mate, I will try my best to keep the videos coming this year 🤓 I’m currently in New Zealand so more from here to come
Great Video Brett, love the light on the foreground rocks in the later images
Terry thanks for watching mate.
Glad you liked the images.
Great video Brett. Love the light and colour you captured on those foreground rocks. Great location with all those rounded rocks. I tend to mostly shoot landscape, should shoot portrait more often. Thanks for the video.
Keith thanks for commenting mate, appreciate you watching.
Really beautiful images at a gorgeous seascape location… I love those beautiful rocks in the bonus images at the end
Thanks for watching kid
Thanks again Brett
No probs thanks for watching
Loved all the info and the shots are beautiful as always 😊
Thanks a lot Ali 🤓
Mate ... I can't believe you don't use a remote release! Especially for seascapes where timing can be everything. Great spot. Shot in the exact same position only at sunset.
G'day Steve, thanks mate, yeah I rarely use a wired shutter these days, I do have one in my bag, but with the R5 it's not needed as you can use the bulb timer for long exposures or if you want fast shots can use the touch screen. appreciate the viewership mate. 🙂
Great video mate. I can’t get away from shooting in portrait orientation for landscapes I just love it. I also need to remind myself to take landscape orientation frames when I’m out shooting
Cheers mate, thanks for watching. Yes you do like your vertical frames 🤓 just finished editing the video with you last night.
I am travelling at the moment. Was looking at your workshops but as I can’t go decided to enjoy one of your videos (sort of going on tour with you without going on tour). Loving your images and I always do a mixture of landscape and portrait shots
Hi Brett, Great video mate. Love the LE shots with those colourful smooth close up rocks. I guess I shoot about 55% Landscape and 45% Portrait Orientation but it really depends on the location and composition at the time. I try to get both when it works to compare. Great bonus shots at the end there too. 👍
Gday Gary, thanks for watching mate. Yes I’m probably similar to you re shooting both.
Great video and shots Brett. I am inclined to take landscape orientation seascapes but your videos have encouraged me to think about portrait orientation and more shots of what you call the intimate details.
Gday Rod,
Thanks a lot mate. Yeah give it a try you’ll enjoy it.
Nice to see you've upgraded to my exact camera and lens gear Brett ............... lol, and it does achieve great results too .............. I am mainly using my 24-105 F4 for my landscapes at present, and the 15-35 F2.8 I use for Astro. I do shoot portrait mode when the scene lends itself to it, otherwise landscape orientation mostly. Also stepped out with a DJI Mini 3 Pro last year and have added the DJI Mavic 3 Classic to my kit as well .............. Damn I love the different angles and places I can reach easily now ............... Keep up the good work Brett ........... Cheers, Murray.
Gday Murray, thanks for your viewership mate, yeah I’ve had the mirrorless system for about a year now, it’s a good set up. Seen you’re out there with the drone too, opens up a whole new learning curve. Cheers mate.
Loving your images Brett - and both the landscape and portrait angles too. Those rocks at the end are amazing!
Thanks heaps Steph, appreciate your viewership.
I have pretty much shot all my seascapes in landscape mode, and the odd occasion I’ve used portrait have been disappointed. However last weekend I took my last few shots on portrait and was pretty happy with them. The photo was more suitable as a portrait shot anyway but I want to continue the trend now. I bought a NiSi L bracket for my R5 and was disappointed that I couldn’t use my screen on an angle with it. The Atoll was released so bought one of those .. great BUT it blocks the port for the cable release .. ok a bit old hat, but i like my cable release. 😂. Love the R5, still working it out a bit and love NiSi gear and service but the L bracket and Atoll, the way I like to use them , a little disappointing. Great video, interesting location and lots of great hints Brett.
Thanks for watching & commenting Judy, you don’t need a shutter release you can use the touch screen or bulb timer.
Great shots Brett! Nice to see your camera survived the fall from last week! As far as "landscape vs. portrait" format - I used to shoot more landscape formats - but lately I've been doing a lot of portrait shots. It really depends on what the composition calls for. I tend to like the portrait format if I want to include some interesting cloud formations and light. Keep up the great work and videos. Cheers mate!
Alan thanks for watching again mate, glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I really mix it up with vertical v landscape, overall probably 50/50.
Lovely images Brett.. I always shoot vertically... but I do try to remember to shoot in landscape mode.. it's all depends on the scene.. Always watch out for the higher waves.. every 15 or 20 mins.. (I guess) just move.. lol I need to get back and used my 6-stop again. again.. It' all depends on the area I am capturing
Thanks for watching & commenting Nikki
Another great location shoot. Your images came out so well. I usually shoot landscape but now I have my atoll I will try to more consciously switch to portrait mode. One thing I really need to do is reduce the height of my tripod.
Thanks Chris, next time you’re out just experiment with different styles, compositions, heights etc, who knows you might get a cracker.
Absolutely stunning images Brett. Especially like the long exposures where the camera is position low.
I naturally shoot in landscape but try to remind myself to try portrait as well and think about what suits the scene.
Wayne Thankyou kindly mate.
Much appreciated.
Very nice as always Brett. I'm trying to shoot both landscape and vertical (when I remember lol) - it really depends on the scene of course.
Thanks Sam,
Yeah I pretty much do the same thing, try to shoot both. You never know which one will look best at the end.
I'm usually looking at the landscape option Brett, and often crop to the 16:9 format.
Thanks Allan, 16-9 is one of my favourite crops
Watched the video until the end now and found it, also on your website. Coulsd I buy it in New Zealand, too ?
LOVE the 25-30 second pebble shots - Did you keep your Nisi polariser on?
Steve, thanks mate.
I often do leave my polariser on & then adjust it to suit. So not much polarisation on the rocks.
Love these images, and enjoying the videos, I tend to shoot more vertical, but just need to get the camera out of the bag, I've been a bit slack lately.
Thanks for watching Wendy.
That’s ok, we all get like that. You’ll get back to it when you’re ready 🤓
Come across your youtube channel and love your images. I am using the canon R5 and would like to know which model of A-Toll you are using for this set up. Keep posting and take care
Thanks Arthur,
AToll C, you can order one through my website
Really nice images. Did you focus stack any of them? Also, what tripod and ballhead are you using?
Thanks mate, no focus stacks here. All my gear is linked in the description.
Awesome images. What settings did you use?
Thanks mate.
They’re various settings, 1/4sec is always a good starting point. f11.
Hi, can you tell me if you are using the Nisi Wizard Camera positioning bracket with your camera? If you do can you tell us if you liked it? Do you recommend it? Thank you
Hi there Jacques, no we haven’t seen the NiSi Wizard here yet.
Hi Brett, which tripod head do you use ? It looks easy to handle. Thanks
In this video I’m using the explorer tripod & head.

Hey Brett, loving your videos. I’m wondering to get all the rocks in focus are you focus stacking, and also are you using manual or auto focus. Cheers mate, Ricky
Gday Ricky,
No none of these images are focus stacked, I use auto single point focus so I can control where I want the focus point.
Awesome mate thanks heaps for the reply. Only just stumbled onto your videos, and loving them, and the photos create
Thanks mate, keep watching I’ve got another 7 videos recorded from Nz & Canada just gotta get around to editing them.
I definitely will mate, I’m going through all of them, so that will keep me going until then
why shouldn’t you use a polarising filter on your wide angle lens?
Michael polarisers and wide angle lenses aren’t friends, the wide angle distortion can cause some odd effect’s particularly in the sky on full polarisation.
How do you get your tripod to stay on those rocks please?
Hi there Urlys, I’m not sure what you mean ? My tripod is sitting on the rocks
@@BrettWoodPhoto yes but you had it sitting on top of rocks...I thought it would fall off!! Anyway...it didn't so you obviously have a knack that I lack! 😩🤣
@@urlysmitchell5603 a good sturdy tripod makes a big difference.
Araggannu?
Great vid! I always get stuck in landscape format because I forget about portrait. Good tip 🙂 I get super nervous getting my camera so close to salt water though, those waves were really splashing up! I’ll need to step out of my comfort zone….
